My condolences to his family, friends and former teammates. Football is a rough sport to play year after year. I was glad my son never had interest in playing...after someone tried to force him to play in highschool. Tackles scare me.
Sorry to hear of Vontae's passing, He was a hell of a d back at Illinois and he looked as if he could have had a stellar career with two All-Star selections under his belt in the few years that he played. But football, as great a game as it is, has become too much a mental and physical hazard to the men who are playing it and they deserve better. Either better equipment, a weight limit on players, and/ or more rules against unnecessaty violence. My respects to the Davis family in their loss. He was a fine young man who left us too soon.
