3 D’s… Destination, Distance, Duration 👍 I recently heard this on a podcast and realized it’s the absolutely simplest list of considerations any trip. Hiking, Camping, Vacation, Fishing Trip, a day at the beach or Getting Home after a disaster.
Regular old 550 cord can also be used as an impromptu to escape tool to cut through restraints such as zip ties or duct tape. And I actually bought myself a rather sturdy Smith & Wesson pen in place of a pencil a while back. And what I find to be the best part of it is I can literally pick up any cheap pen from literally anywhere and it'll take the insert from said pen. With some modification of course. Plus it serves as a self defense tool as well.
That’s a lot of “just in case” EDC trinkets for a get home scenario. You don’t need much to stay low and move fast. Somethin to sleep in/under and food to go. Few extra items, depending. Buying a bunch of regurgitated gear doesn’t mean you got it covered either
Biggest problem will likely be dogs. Dog repellent or bear spray is a priority along with water and footwear/clothing. Firearm should be present, but non-lethal on dog may avoid lethal needing to be applied to dog owner!
I needed to redo my kit for summer but here it is August so I guess Ill just leave it. I think the only thing I don't have is a whistle but I know how to use a piece of grass or leaf to make one. That power pint looks pretty good but I would like to see kind of a stress test for the knife blade and grip test for the pliers. I carry a pair of mini knipex that are incredibly good. I may have missed it but I didn't see a tarp for cover or a secondary option for water such as a sawyer mini or metal container in case you need to boil. I didn't see something to sleep in, on and under which is more of a bushcraft thing but I think its important for a survival kit as well. Here in the southeast ( I don't know where you are located) its incredibly humid this time of year so a cooling rag for your neck would be great for preventing heat stroke. Also here in the south in my location I know it would be wise to stay off of the roads as much as possible so I would advise a map and compass (if you know how to use them) to make as many shortcuts as possible though wooded areas to avoid panicking armed "country boys" who would probably turn into a thief pretty quick. Overall this kit is one of the best that I have seen but I go by the 10C's and that is just what I saw that I would add to it but I wouldn't take anything away as everything you have seems necessary and serves a purpose.
Thank you for watching and for your comments! That video was the 3rd in a series of 5 videos covering EDC, Survival Kits, and the GHB. In the next couple of days you'll see the Urban Survival Tools and then the remainder of the GHB, which includes, map & compass, extra clothing, water filters, SS cup, etc. Please keep commenting on the upcoming videos. I love your input!
Yes, in this scenario those would probably be toast. In the Get Home Bag video, you'll see that I keep a flashlight, watch and radio in a faraday bag. I should be storing this little kit in a faraday bag under the truck seat.
I'm glad you noticed that! I guess that's the difference between a real situation and a role play scenario! I definitely should have taken the 3rd bottle! Thanks for watching!
@@bernardbarr2354 what are “most scientist” saying about getting stuck in a winter storm? Should we disregard that too? If you don’t want to prepare for the unexpected, that’s ok. Not a good idea though!
@@AndrewMcKennon-i6e not sure I understand your comment. If you were to study EMP events you'd get what I was saying. No one alluded to not being or getting prepared. Most are saying that an event WON'T damage simple circuits unless they are plugged in. A lot of what we believe is because of what we heard. They are saying that a lot of it is urban myth status. So what are scientists saying about winter storms? Seriously? Did I miss something? How is that different from what we've been doing to prepare for them?
Dasani Water? I closed the video immediately lol jk but seriously Dasani is gross. I live in Florida and it’s always the last water to go at a store when a hurricane is coming.

Wow! That was an eye opener! Time to stop putting things off! Thanks!
Thanks Andrew!

Very good point! I mention a couple of options for non-lethal in the next video. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I will definitely be checking out the links!
Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome video! Thanks for all the great information!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Recommend an orange bandanna that can also be used to mark a location or for signaling

@@AltaSurvival Looking forward too it!
Good choices. My main difference is that I would and DO, use Emt medical scissors.
I like it!
You should get the anti emp box to hook to your car so you don’t get stranded in the first place
That’s a possibility, except in a he snowstorm scenario. It’s good to always be prepared. Thanks for commenting.
you need to keep your flashlight and watch(unless it is a wind up) in a faraday bag.

Why would you leave water behind ?

It's not EDC if you only have it most of the time.
It goes wherever I go. Every day. Thanks for commenting.
!!!! OK, Smart Ass!
you might want to rename this video because your flashlight and your watch will be fried in a emp scenario. anything with circuits will not work.
That's true. You'll see in the Get Home Bag video that I keep a flashlight, watch and radio in a faraday bag.
You should study EMPs more. Most scientists are saying something different than what we were led to believe.
