Managed to get it working on Linux through Wine, mostly the same process, download zdoom, extract to a folder, etc. But I did have to run it through terminal since (at least with KDE + Dolphin) you can't just drag myhouse.pk3 onto the exe.
They do seem to supply a tarball for 4.10 but I'm not really looking forward to any compatibility issues with the mod so I just used the Windows version through Wine and it seems to be working fine.
My friend told me to go into this blind so please no spoilers.
