Great to see a place i know so well being featured! I grew up in that area and worked there for several years. I've been up to the top of that fire tower several times when it was still accessible.
@MaksimOutdoors last time I was up it was around 1992. They took the bottom portion of the steps off sometime right after that. Sadly, a lot of the fire towers in the area were cut up for scrap. I'm not sure why that one survived possibly because of the CCC connections. It would be nice to see it restored
Ive been to Cherry Springs around half a dozen times and never knew half of those things were there, really enjoyed exploring the lesser known sides of the park, thanks for stopping by!
That rattle snake footage was epic. I haven’t seen one in a long time, and I keep going out of my way to look for them. Definitely misunderstood creatures. Like most things, they’re not going out of their way to injure us. Really great video! Love all the night sky footage!
Yeah I doubt I'll ever top that lol, I usually see one a year while out on the trail...even crazier this one didn't really have a rattle....thanks for stopping by buddy!
Ive visited that park probably 5-6 times now but never in the winter, like you said I imagine it would be extremely quiet and calm up in that area. Thanks for stopping by!
Amazing. I have not been there. On my list. Your editing skills, especially your introduction, are amazing too. Quite a lot of work. I enjoy your writing skills also. How do you, as such a young guy, find the time to get out as much as you do? You are too young to be retired.
Hey John, hope all is well! It's a very unique area that's for sure. Thank you for the kind comments as always. Great question also that I don't think anyone has really asked me, I will film like 10 episodes in a week and just pace them out posting one a week which allows me to put out new content every week, but on the other hand I have a great job and I get every Friday off which 99% of the time ends up with me out hiking.
The cabin at the tower would've been the watchman's cabin for the season. Most of the towers still standing have a cabin. Tionesta has a really cool tower cabin that I've been in. And 18 new towers that are still in use across the commonwealth. Another adventure item I like to plot and find
Good information, one of the rangers up there told me it was an old rangers station. I was just up at the one at Hearts Content not too long ago and checked out that one, maybe ill have to track down the 18 new ones!
I'm one of those with a big telescope and go to Cherry Springs as often as I can, weather permitting. The title of your video caught my attention, so I watched it. A very well done video too. I subscribed to your channel now. Just a small recommendation though, it would sound better if you had a separate mic for the go-pro. Every time you turn it, it sounds different, and when you pan the scene's do it slower. But your editing and content are awesome. I want to checkout your other state park videos. Keep up the good work.
I spoke to a few of you "big telescope" people while visiting haha, one even let us check out some stars which was a real treat. Thanks for the kind comments, the whole motion blur thing with the camera is kind of intentional in a way but I know what youre talking about, thanks for subscribing and I hope to hear from you down the road!
Yeah it's a very surreal area, I really enjoyed all those spaced out pines in the campground and the area in general just has a unique vibe being up on that plateau. Always a good time!
When we are in the area, we stay at a camp in Conrad, Pa. I have been there many times to ride my motorcycle. On one trip, we saw a rattler coiled up on the road. Pretty impressive but not as big as the one in this video. Lots of great roads to ride around on in that area. It's not far from the Grand Canyon of Pa. Rt. 44 north to Rt 6 you will see the Coudersport Ice Mine on the left before the intersection of those two roads. Ice forms in the summer and melts in the winter. I highly recommend the whole area along Rt. 6 and any road with a 4 in it. RT 44 - 414 - 144 and many others are all great roads to ride/drive.
😮🐍. Looked like a great chill time. I can see a dayhikedave follow bill maksim adventure next year. You made me put kettle creek and cherry springs high on the list. 👍🙂🙏
Yeah I really enjoyed my Wilds roadtrip, one more episode after this before the "Wild West wedding road trip" begins, oh and our backpacking trip! And yes, we need to plan a few trips here soon!
Yeah I don't think ill ever get better footage then that, the snake coiled up around my GoPro for a few minutes it was a pretty crazy experience, thanks for the comment George!
"JABRONI"!!!! Rarely does one hear that, but I use it all the time. When we get together, remind me to tell you a funny story around that word...😂. Thanks again for another excellent vid Bill...👊😀
The rattlesnakes are always the highlight of my trips out to central PA. Great video!
Love a good snake find!

Really? What year did it end up closing? Sad to say but it's not looking too great nowadays, hopefully they try and restore it or something.

That was awesome to see the snake, the old CCC buildings and the stars were incredible.

Took Ryan there when we were first dating she adored it. We spent an over there in January. Cold , Calm and Glorious! Cheers 🍻

Excellent 😊
Appreciate you stopping by!

My wife and I were there for the northern lights a few weeks ago. It was awesome.
I was at Ole Bull that night and it was incredible! Thanks for stopping by !

WOW! ❤ That was amazing. Even the snake😊
It was an excellent trip, I have one more stop after this but no snakes!
Great video...even if you did use a paper plate. LOL
Thanks haha, ya tend to work with what ya got!

Another great video Bill!
Thank you for the support Troy! Sometimes these locations make it easy to make a great video!

One of the darkest and quietest places I’ve ever been. First night I arrived and got out of the van I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.
Yeah it's a very surreal area, I really enjoyed all those spaced out pines in the campground and the area in general just has a unique vibe being up on that plateau. Always a good time!
Great job,Bill. Loved the video, beautifully filmed. Snake was awesome!
Thanks as always, loved the snake! Doubt ill ever get better footage of one then this!

Teddy was my neighbor and friend growing up!
Small world!
Wow I want to go there so much, I love stargazing.
If only taking video of the night sky was easier, wish I couldve shown more of it!
😮❤wow bill. I love this state park!😊🎉❤❤
It never gets old, especially if you catch with perfect conditions like we did!
Great video! Enjoyed the rattlesnake footage.
Yeah I don't think ill ever get better footage then that, the snake coiled up around my GoPro for a few minutes it was a pretty crazy experience, thanks for the comment George!
We have always camped there in the winter so we missed the snakes. It is a 4 hour ride for my group but definitely worth it.
Smart thinking lol, can't say I ever camped there in the winter.
"JABRONI"!!!! Rarely does one hear that, but I use it all the time. When we get together, remind me to tell you a funny story around that word...😂. Thanks again for another excellent vid Bill...👊😀
hahaha, I grew up a big WWF fan so that word was a staple in my vocabulary growing up lol! And I will remember that for the next meet up! Thanks Griz!
❤I have a coleman cooler and lantern like that!😊🎉❤
I love the old gear, reminds me of my childhood
The closest town to Cherry Springs is about 25 minutes, Galeton
Forgot about Galeton
Loved the video ❤but not the squishy slinky thing
They're all fine and dandy when you can see them! Thanks for stopping by!
@MaksimOutdoors enjoy your hikes
😂😂😂 ur funny
I was pretty comical in this one lol
@MaksimOutdoors I like when u guys do that kind of thing.
Great, now every time I go there to stargaze I’ll be thinking of snakes! Great video, otherwise!
haha trust me that thought crossed my mind all night, even worse you can't really carry a flashlight with you in that park lol
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Your videos are nice but you have too many capital letters in the description. It's a bit unnerving.
Listen here WISE GUY. Get OFF my CASE.
@MaksimOutdoors keep up the great work boss hog
