I made this last week. Before smoking, it was indeed 'spectacular'! Then I placed the liquid in my smoker. I WAY over smoked it. Lesson learned. I will do it again this week, and place it in the smoker for no more than 5 minutes. I discovered that liquid absorbs smoke much faster than I anticipated. Also, I see some comments asking why make the whiskey when you can buy it. First, some of us like the process. Second, I can make a $25.00 bottle of whiskey for under $10.00. Nothing wrong with that!
Me too I making a new ones 😜 keep us updated
Thanks Andrea. I do home distilling, it's legal here in South Africa. I use American white oak staves. I put the jars in the sunlight. I have to give the fridge a try next time. Just waiting for my fermentation to complete.👌
Spectacular 🤩 keep us updated
With a biltong...Jarre Man!
Fun video! Thanks. Rapid aging with the JD chips can be done with hot (~135F) and cold water baths (Sous Vide / Instapot & Ice water) by cycling the jars for 45 minutes or so each to the color desired. You can compress the 8 days to a few hours. I have to try the smoke step now.
Thanks for the advice 🤩🥃
If you use an ultra sonic cleaner for both baths you can cut down even more....and do not use just straight chips....toast them by varying amounts and use 1/10th of the chips as charcoal. Save some fat from the smoke house from something like pork belly and do a fat wash with the chips. I dont know about anyone else but I like a lot of smoke in my liquor.
Thanks 👍🏼
I love your channel bro. keep up the good work
Thanks buddy 🥳
Thank you again for a great recipe!!!!! We want another for Home made Rum like Diplomatico!!!

I really like the logic of simulating ageing using the freezer and fridge! What a simple way to make great tasting whiskey. I think you should start an online gourmet shop and sell all your wonderful and unusual creations like you multi fruit wines, liqueurs, spirits, processed meats, cheeses, pastas, jams, desserts and all your other goodies. I am sure you will do roaring business. And I would love to be your first customer. 😃
😂👍🏼 thanks for the idea 😉 and for your support
@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato Good Luck to you!
🤪
I don't think you can sell alcohol esp without a special license. He could sell ingredients and tools though
Yes 🤔 probably it’s illegal in many countries
You can go outside, set a wood chip on fire, hold a jar over it, turn the smoke-filled jar over and pour the alcohol into it. If you don't have any cocktail smoker equipment. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the idea 👍🏼🥃
You can also char (burn)the wood. The inside of whisk(e)y barrels are charred and it adds flavor and color to the alcohol.
Yes 👍🏼 thanks for the advice
I gotta try this boss smoked whiskey
Keep us updated updated Lorne
Nice work 👍👍👍
🥳🥃 thanks
I actually tried my own method similar to this a while back before I saw the video. Freezer then stove, repeat over the course of 3 days. My lack of brain did not take into account the heat stress on the glass. Imagine my surprise when I stick the glass of whiskey in the pot then pull it out. Next thing you know the glass busted in half. The cleanest cut imaginable lol.
I used Jack Daniels barrel blocks in my whiskey. It is available on the internet, They still contain (albeit dried of course) traces of JD whiskey in the blocks from natural evaporation during maturation. It made the best tasting and smoothest whiskey I've ever made. Plus the blocks still have char on it from JD's process of charring the inside of the barrel before storage. Just make sure to wash the blocks to get all that dirt, grime, and potentially mold. Do not use soap just plain water (preferably distilled water).
Thanks for sharing your experience and your advices 👍🏼
Great video cheers from London 👍😎🏴🇬🇧
Thanks 🥳🥃
i like to make my own whiskey from scratch. your English very good now. I can taste that one from here.
Spectacular 🥳🥃 I would like to make from scratch too 🙂 maybe in the future
Stay blessed sir😊👌
Thanks 😂 you too
Great idea, very interested in trying this. What machine did you use to smoke and what methods would you suggest if you can't find such a machine? Which 40% alcohol did you use? I also live in Asia and might be able to find it. Thanks again for all the great content.
😉👍🏼 ruclips.net/video/bCom3__oKJs/видео.html
I have made this several times but I don't "burn" the wood, I don't like the smoke taste. I use white oak from my firewood pile. Wonderful recipe. I have used the older recipe but it is basically the same.
Ok 👍🏼 thanks for sharing your experience
SPECTACULAAAR
Bravo 👏🏼😉👍🏼
do you tried with a little bit burned wooden chips like in barrel? or longer "maturating" - 15days "15yrs" ? Will be good idea to add in to a jar a cinnamon or a nutmeg?
This wood is already from barrel 😉
No cinnamon 😬 it’s too strong
I like the hand gesture at 8:33
😂👍🏼 thanks
Hi chef ,This is interesting, I am waiting on school holiday then I will distill my single malt whiskey 🥃 and try this recipe , but need to make the smoker first, and in meantime I’ll put it on oak then maybe smoke it, I guess the freezing part should become a part of my distilling habits,
Oh and luckily for me I can legally distill but the still must be registered with the authorities,
Must say 2 of my 3 stills were bought from reputable companies, and the other was home made,
Grazie,
Ciao ciao
Spectacular 🥳 I hope one day to distill my whiskey and my grappa 🙂🥃🤩
Very very spectacular 👍☺️
🥳 thanks 🥃
I certainly will try this but it will be difficult to better your previous video. Thank you
Thanks 😉 and keep us updated 🥃
how long do we keep it in freezer and outside daily ? like 12 hours on 12 hours off ?
Exactly 👍🏼
Thank you! Watching now :)
Bravo 😉👍🏼 let me know if you like it
I will try this with some of the wood chips tmw. Thank you!! I will be back
:)
🥳👍🏼😉🥃
it's a miracle!
😂👍🏼🥃
I've been using charred white oak in the cheapest whiskey I can find .....tastes as good as Makers Mark...I'm also doing tequila and rum right now and counting the days till it's ready to try.
I'll try the freeze and thaw method next time.
Oh my should totally make a vídeo on it!

Hello,
I will be visiting Italy in January. Where can I buy alcohol and how much does it cost to buy 1 liter?
In the supermarket and cost 16 € more or less per 1 liter 96% alcohol content
एकदम कडक...
Why? 🤔
@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato Very strict..
😂👍🏼
glad to see you are using 40-45% distillate this time instead of that ultra overproof vodka 96%, yes smoking is good to do i sometimes blow smoke from my cigar into my whisky glass and cover it and let it sit for 15 min it smells and tastes very nice , btw i like your mini shot glasses but why did you not use cotton ball filtration as i told you about that last time
I tried with cotton discs but it was not working 😬
no no i told you you need to use cotton balls like the one your wife has for her makeup, you can unroll a cotton ball or take a small piece of that and put it inside the funnel tube near the end where the liquid comes out, you should not use too much but just enough to get a dripping stream , pass maybe 100ml of alc at first and this should remove any lose fibres that come out from the cotton then take that 100ml alc and pass it through the filtre again and keep adding the rest of the alcohol through the filter to collect, it comes out crystal clear @@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato
@ARCSTREAMS ok 👍🏼 thanks 🥳
yw@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato
Would the smoking process work for scotch whiskey?
Yes 👍🏼
We would also like a spicy cognac recipe :))
Hey Man ! I've been a subscriber to the channel for a long time. I love you and your style. We're getting old, and you're always young. What is your secret? =)
For the cognac I am doing some research 😉
😂
thank you for your video, but I don't quite understand the freezer or fridge issue. The glass jar can break easily in the freezer, as I have had this experience before.I want to be sure and ask again, the section you call freezer is min. - 18 degree or section + 4 degrees? . If the section -18 degree , I should use non glass jar
Ok 👍🏼 if you prefer you can use the fridge instead of the freezer 😉
@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato thank you, I have started first step of aging

i wonder about the alcohol, there are some place that alcohol is not available in the area, is there any substitute for this type of alcohol?

As for preparing it at home i have to check the rules in my country.

Is whiskey very expensive compared to vodka in Italia?
The good ones 👍🏼🥃 yes
can you use chips for a few batches? are they re-usable?
2 times not more
I wonder if you could soak some lapsang souchong tea in rum or some other liquor to imitate the smoke flavor?

Any aussies watching, is this type of alcohol (40%, as pictured in the video) available in Australia? Thank you...
What kind of food alcohol can you find in Austria?
Hello What alcohol did you use? What is equivalent here in the U.S.? Please and thank you.
Everclear
I am not sure if those barbeque chips sre considered safe for adding to alcohol. They might have some chemical additions that is not good to your health when solved in alcohol. Or maybe not. I would prefer pure oak chips/cubes and maybe smoking them before use.
In theory they are made from barrels
Now please make a tutorial on how to finish a 5 year degree in 2 days 😂
😱😬 please drink with moderation
Drink lots of whiskey it will feel like 5 years have passed
I need your help with something if you don't mind. I made a coffee liqueur but can't figure out the final ABV.
I made it with this:
130g brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
250ml Moka Coffee
350ml of 86 proof (or 43%) abv Bourbon

Why don't just buy malt whiskey in Italy, made by whiskey makers?
I bought one small bottle in germany from a small destilley it was smooth .

doesn't the wood need to be soaked in hot water and doesn't need to be in the oven? like when making whiskey in your video entitled "How to Make WHISKEY at Home 10 YEAR OLD in ONLY 10 DAYS"
