Well 35cm by 2050 and 115cm by 2100 isnt exactly "just around the corner" from a home owners point of view is it? A common straw man by climate change deniers....
Coastal erosion is not the same as rising sea level. Erosion is caused by wind and wave action moving sand and earth by a process called longshore drift. The level of the European north Atlantic ocean has not risen at all according to measurements from port tidal gauges. (Metal rulers fixed to walls and away from waves swell etc) These "physical" measurements are however at odds with ones taken by satellites and then, adjusted by algorithms to remove statistical anomalies. 🤔🤔🤔
The erosion around this part of the country is more to do with its geology than anything else. The cliffs are made of a clay which easily breaks down during storms. This erosion has been going on for centuries and will carry on for centuries. Reinforcement of the cliffs with boulders does temporarily slow it down, but the sea always wins in the end.
The climate exchange denying c*nt bots must be working overtime 🤣 Just as well big oil has deep pockets. That is a lot of minimum wage comments to fund.
Then why didn't they erode hundreds or thousands of years ago? The coasts were always there, and they didn't erode before. Yet now the water level is rising (according to measurements constantly being taken all around the world) which allows the water to hit vulnerable soil that used to be above the water line.
We were taught this at school back in the 1960's that the east coast would completely change. This how spurn point formed. Also the Dutch showed us how to reclaim the Wash coastal area from the sea wayback in oughty ought.
This has been happening since the end of the last ice age the east of the country is sinking while the west is rising, where I live the coastal village of Reculver was a mile inland in Roman times and Rye was on the coast and is now a mile inland !
And why wouldnt they? Those contracts are unlikely to extend beyond the year 2060 or 2070 and by then sealevels only rise by 50cm compared to the year 2000 which wont sink or damage most houses will it? So there is plenty of time to make plenty of money with insuring sea shore houses. Its such a dumb strawman made by climate change deniers to pretend the water has to rush in and flood the houses within the next few years - they say it in THIS video 35cm by 2050 compared to 2000 and 115cm by 2100 compared to 2000 - THAT is the prediction and what we can already measure.
