  • Sealing Blackthorn Shillelaghs with Wax Seasoning sticks reduce cracking
Last years sticks I worked on where seasoned for 2 years and weren’t sealed with anything, left to hang in my shed so this year I’m gonna try waxing the ends see for myself the difference

Great upload. 👍. It catches the newbies out. I learned the hard way many years ago even though my grandad told me to seal them…I’ve cut over 300 this season and they’re all sealed and stored. 👍

Well done if I had the ability to store that many sticks I would, yeah I can imagine a lot of people I expect don’t realise till it’s too late

Nice crop of stick blanks there JP! I've been thinking about trying wax on the ends. I've been using an old spray can of lacquer to seal which works fairly well.
    Take care mate!

Try some beeswax and terps to make a paste. 80/20 beeswax/terps. Melt it all into a jar. 👍
