Some of the greatest lead playing I have ever heard in my life, along with some of the most amazing high-tenor vocals I have ever heard. Gene Marchello was basically a younger Rik Emmett of Triumph at the precious young age of 19 here. Amazing. Not to mention his band had an absolute kick-ass rhythm section. 🤘🏻
A keen comparison. I agree Gene sounds a lot like Rik here, vocally AND guitar style-wise. And this song definitely sounds like it would fit right in on Triumph's Surveillance album.
I had the pleasure of living next door to the keyboardist, Gary Bivona, shortly after he left the band. A bright, sensitive and talented guy who took the high road to support his family rather than try to extend a spent force once the lead singer decided to go in another direction. Great musician, perhaps at the wrong time?
First Love Marchello So many girls I could love Who do I choose? You see, I'm so dazed and confused And time after time I've misread the signs So how can I know that it's you? Girl, I know First love First love When the shadows are gone Still be deep in the arms of your first love (First love) Take me out of the cold Body and soul With your first love (First love) Girl, I wanna be your first First love First love Who knows when you're right Or you're wrong? Being a songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist myself from the 80's and 90's I still remember when I heard this song on MTV for the first time. I couldn't get over how double talented the lead singer was. It was like he had the vocal range of Geoff Tate of Queensryche and the guitar wizardry of Eddie VanHalen. This song was definitely underrated. And another thing is you can't watch the video for this on here on RUclips. I don't know why. You can look up any of the old 80's metal song videos and find them here, but you won't this one. And it did use to be on here about 6 years ago. I have no idea why it was discontinued on RUclips. However, it is on another browser because that's where I go to watch the video now when I want to see it. Great song and video.
Omg I was a freshman in high school when this came out. This is one of the first hairbands I heard. I have the cassette but it does me no good in 2020 😩👵
Easy - Gene Marcello's dad was Pepe Marcello from the band "The Good Rats" in New York. He had no choice but to be an amazing musician. Look them up, half the rock bands out of New York City have some connection to them. For example, Joe Franco (who literally wrote "the book" on Double bass drumming- it is used at Berkley school of music) was in the band, and was later in Twisted Sister and Dee Snider's Widowmaker (look that up as well, amazing album).
Amazing song, from a great debut album or CD 💿 which I still have and play it loud, and did see 👀 them live, back in the day 😀, just too bad they arrived late to the 80s party.
I was just watching "New Amsterdam" and she was in it! That's what brought me here...had to prove to my husband she was in this video! Still love this song!
it really sucked that the lead singer of this band was compared to steve perry..based on this song..but have to admit it got the publics attention..TOO bad they did not listen to the rest of the debut album!
Forgotten gem of an album. Love this song

Great tune man. Thought I was the only person that remembered this one.

mmm Composer! Fantastish!!
Wow.......hot tub time machine take me back to 1989!!!
They never got a fair shake..what a great band.
I can't believe I found this!brings back so old memories! like cassettes.lol
I had this on cassette when it came out....I think Gina Gershon was in the video. The drum fills going into the chorus are so epic.
Gina Gershon was hotter than molten lava.
Damn it!!!!! Finally found this!!! After years and years of looking this up on RUclips, thanks for the upload....

A great band that should have gone over the top.
Art Trevino! Introduced me to this band. Thank you brother still love it. Classic!
This band and Kraaft were so criminally underated
Have both on Vinyl ; FATE is also killer - same vein ; tons of others ha
SO TRUE!!
I got this CD immediately after seeing the video for this song on Headbangers Ball
Awesome song, thanks for putting it up.
I so wish I could get this song on Spotify
Finding this song is like finding a lost treasure that tbe moment you hear it brings back a flood of good feelings
Por fin la encontre. La tenía en casette grabada de una estación de radio americas ni idea del grupo y del título era misión imposible jjj
Perfect rock ... hard rock from USA :
Gene Marchello (guitar, vocals)
Nick DiMichino (bass)
Gary Bivona (keyboards)
John Miceli (drums)
Such an amazing song and the drummer kicks ass badly, I think that's a very big plus for the song itself besides of all the good things about it.
can anyone explain how the singer is also a bad ass lead shred guitar player?? he's insane!! listen to the song destiny.

Also keep in mind that Gene was around 19yo at the time of the release..
@@timbrown57 Are we talking about the same Joe Franco; the drummer who played with Virtuoso Guitar player Vinnie Moore on his Time Oddisey album?

amazing album start to finish. but, it did have that steve perry sound in terms of vocals, so one could see why the comparison was there.
More like Rik Emmett of Triumph to me.
