Lincoln was a very shrewd politician. There were many slave states, including Kentucky, Missouri, Maryland, and Delaware, which never joined the Confederacy, and the western portion of Virginia broke off from Virginia to become West Virginia. If the border slave states plus West Virginia had embraced the Confederate cause because Lincoln had declared that an objective of the Federal Government was to end slavery, early in the war, then it is doubtful that the North could have won the war. Moreover, slavery was legal in parts of the United States; as the President, without the cooperation of Congress and the states, Lincoln had no legal authority to end slavery by himself alone. Slavery was legally abolished by an amendment to the Constitution at the close of the war. The Emancipation Proclamation, which theoretically freed most people who were slaves, was an executive order which was presented as a necessary military measure which was needed to bring about union victory. The Emancipation Proclamation did not affect slaves living in areas under Union control-only areas under Confederate control.

If an alligator for example grab you, your bone is going to get crushed. Most slaves didn't have the guts to escape.

this movie came out in 2022. the chris rock slap happened on March 27, 2022 at the Oscars. This film was premiered Oct 1, 2022 which means it was filmed more than likely about a year before that in 2021.
The caption suggests that the producers don't understand slavery. Slaves are disposable. They are not considered people but property who are less expensive than equipment. So the horror is real but the understanding incomplete.
I'm certain there are many slaves who suffered in the past. From every corner of the World. However slaves were not disposable, a good slave was worth a new cars prices. They took care of their slaves (nigras). Most regular people didn't have a slaves just more kids. Trains full of orphans traveled to all parts of the country the east and west of the Mississippi, North and South of the Mason-Dixon line. One of the disappointments of my life, it's my daughter turning her back on a modern-day abolitionist. I home schooled but we had an angelic lady who helped our daughter prepare for college.
24/7 Allison was available for my daughter, she would call her 1am, Allison never said call me tomorrow. Our daughter escaped the ghetto of Los Angeles thanks to the lady helping erase some of the injustices of the past.
Our first to attend a 4 year college from our bloodline daughter, Harvard and Dartmouth mind you,,, has turned our good Samaritan rescuer into an enemy.

Including white people, people need to smarten up some and use common since. American slaves were estimated at 6% of the worlds total slave population since christ.
