I remember this, because it was the year that i started watching NASCAR and this was probably one of the greatest races of that year. An absolute stunner of a race. The finish took place at about 5AM in my timezone and i still got the chills from that amazing battle for the lead :)
Attended this in person. It was my first experience other than only doing Watkins Glen (live just outside there) was awesome seeing my favorite driver win in person with my father. We started doing more ovals after this and came back to Richmond 2 other times.
They should have never threw that caution for Jimmies tire going down with 30 laps to go, let the race play out. NASCAR just wanted to keep Jimmy up front, and bunch everyone together. Real race fans appreciate the race staying green and playing out on old tires!!
Since this is the first nascar race I've watch I was thinking this: I couldn't be one of them 400 laps is too much for me. But now I know why it was 400 laps

Man, I love NASCAR, and I love my hometrack, it was very exciting to watch, I stayed up at my house to watch this that day!!
