Kumar Ji knew sur very very well. It is a solved problem (i.e. a defined path) to become a musician and add some raags to your belt, and then with few years of workout develop decent tayyari and laykaari skills. But knowing sur is different then anything else. You either know it, or you never know it (no matter how much you practice). To him, sur was a natural friend and an individual, a person.
Yes you are 100% correct. I had seen Pt. Nivruttibua who was primarily interested in Sur only. you must have noticed that i have not uploaded any one who is not in 'sur'.
I know. Kumar ji's love for sur is very pure. And I agree, you upload the artists who are in love with sur and nothing else. I once listened to his bhimpalasi with pt. vasantrao. He created an aura and 'mahaul', that cannot be explained in words. He used nothing fancy. Just simple combinations of notes, but always with the dangerously accurate emphasis.

Heard rendition of raag shankara from pt Bhimsen , pt Jasraj and Roshan Ara Begum. I had cassettes of all three mentioned but heard this raag from pt Kumar ghandharva first time.

The Shankara by Kumarji is in Ektal of 12 beats. It is little bit in more speed than the Vilambit normally adopted by other singers. I am indebted to Honorable Shri Dipankar Sen for uploading such a rare gem and I think the choice of Shri.Dipankar is always the rarest one and outstanding. I always feel that Shri. Dipankar himself must be a great artist having very masterly choice of classical music.
If kumar ji health supported him then many more master pieces would have been created ... Miss him a lot🙇♂️🙏
