No one holds a candle to Hal Ca... absolutely NO ONE. That young woman has an absolutely world-altering gift for guitar work. I know there's a ton of great stuff out there, but "DAWN" is easily one of the five best rock songs of the 21st Century thus far- maybe even the absolute best. There's simply nothing else like it out there. And nothing like ASTERISM either.
Do you live under a rock? Nothing about this performance is "world-altering" unless you haven't spent much time listening to rock guitar music. Go listen more. This here is good stuff, but not amazing or surprising in the general scheme of things.
@@satsukikorin It's not a matter of ignorance, of living under a rock, but rather the opposite - of understanding what's happening. Of course, I speak here from my own perspective, I know nothing about you, who you are and what are your life's circumstances. What you said, and what I described above, sometimes happens to me as well, and I noticed that at those moments I suddenly don't enjoy what seemed so great before. It happens 🤷♂ My current mood, though, is that I fully agree with @one0nine . I just listened to this performance again now, all nine minutes and forty-three seconds, and I was absolutely drawn in and did not want it to end. Which happens very rarely with other musicians. Of course, it's all personal, as I said. Very often when people recommend me to listen to something, after a minute or so I start checking how much time is left until the end, and start negotiating with myself, "Don't turn it off, maybe in the remaining portion there will be something more interesting." Yes, I also formulated it like this. A musician must be meaningful. HAL-CA is a very skilful and technical guitarist, but she's never technical for the sake of being technical. When I tried to play ASTERISM in my office, my colleagues were also quite upset. One of them kept repeating, "It's a dubstep metal." I have no idea what dubstep is, to be honest. Shame the band members were isolating from each other,
Well, they did some walking around, that's for sure 😂
But in reality it looked fine, actually. Just a lot of room to breathe. They used the space quite effectively, I think. Going to the center, going to the sides. The cables have limited their movements, but it was fine, actually.
So odd. It’s like slayer rhythm. Glam rock solos. Weird
When I tried to play ASTERISM in my office, my colleagues were also quite upset. One of them kept repeating, "It's a dubstep metal." I have no idea what dubstep is, to be honest. Or I have an idea, but I don't know why he hears dubstep in ASTERISM.
I'm also not very familiar with Slayer, to be honest. To me they always sounded like just a lot of noise. But it was when I was a child. I heard one of their songs recently and was actually surprised that it has a melody. Whatever. Associations which we have when hearing some unfamiliar music can be very strange at times. For me ASTERISM sounds like they are building a lot on King Crimson-which I know they themselves recognize, MIYU and MIO even played a cover of 21st Century Schizoid Man.
@@VladimirChupin Yes, someone else who hears King Crimson in their playing. The Zombie more so than anything, Mio at times sounds like Bruford.
@@niiru4336 I would say more like Pat Mastelotto 😊😊💕💕❤❤
