This channel is based in the North East of England ( UK ) and documents our explorations of both the underground and above ground workings of abandoned, and sometimes operational mines within areas such as the Northern Pennines, North Yorkshire and the Lake District, sometimes a little further. We now and again throw in some caving too. Our intention is to document these abandoned mines, show how they worked and talk about the history behind them. Unfortunately, due to politics, or the need to preserve the site, we can not always name the mine location. If the location is not shown in the video, please do not ask as refusal to divulge often offends.
THE DANGERS OF ABANDONED MINE EXPLORATION :

Abandoned mines contain dangers for which equipment and training are required. Hazards can include false floors, open shafts, low oxygen, poisonous gases, collapsing or rotten structures, explosives, flood risks, bacterial infection and of course, rock falls. NEVER enter alone, ALWAYS thoroughly research your destination, ALWAYS alert a third party to your plans and timings. STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE.

Oh you went to them we were always in competition with them, we used to throw Yorkshire puddings at them back in the 1800s!

The entrance way very much reminds me the entrance to the mines of Moria in Lord of the Rings, minus the rather angry Watcher in the Water squid/kraken dude.
I can’t remember that part of the movie but yes, looks like it’s from a fantasy movie.
The entrance was dug out by myself and a few others back in 1980 we set the rings and gates, there will be photos of this in my next RUclips video on my channel Ol'Miner66
True story: A few years back I was doing work at the nearby Manor House and the new owner showed me an opening like a mini sinkhole or gash about 500mm high that had appeared at the top of the drive while excavating. This led directly into the mine. Amazing to think how many other entrances there may be or tunnels waiting to be broken into accidently. Needless to say they blocked it up. Pretty cool to see though.
Something else I found interesting was how much of a breeze blows out from the mine through that locked metal gate. I found it a bit eerie. Mind you, not as eerie as that old house. There were things I found distinctly odd in there. The fact the owners actually found a blocked up room in the roofspace amongst other things like strange noises and bangs and weird draughts with no open doors etc. None of our fitters were never at ease working there.
That's scary, not a house I'd be keen to live in!
This was well worth the wait.

Really interesting, the architecture of the mine is so different to the ones we usually go in. Almost doesnt seem like a mine in parts!!!
Actually a bit more like a coal mine, apart from they remove everything in these.
“Churt”, you learn something new everyday I ve never heard of that. The mine was like a movie set, very different but very interesting 😊

Steve the area with the frame and carpet is the mock face from the show mine carpet was stretched over the wooden frame and painted to look like rock, underneath was a shop dummy in overalls and a Holman air drill in hand well done for finding it 😀 I'm glad you got to come with me mate 😊

You found the shattered chamber, where the short ladder is, you can climb up that at the top there is a block of stone with someone's old pipe on it still full of tobacco, i took Antonio up there if you follow it on it follows the last working face of the mine, great video, if you want to know any more about the place let me know

The structure on the cart up top looks a lot like some of the old winches on a beach near me for pulling boats up the steep shingle. I'd have thought using it sideways like that would pull the cart over before moving a block of limestone, though. Perhaps it was just on there for transport or they'd anchor it before use.
Maybe the former, can’t see why they’d red to winch in a flat area :)
You can clearly see the difference in mining techniques to what us tough Northerners are use to 🤣🤣

Ok, fixed now, worked out what I did wrong.
The old barrel is a lime barrel to put on the 💩 in the tins under the toilet, and the metal tins were carbide tubs

Obviously I am not going to ask specifically where this is. However could you tell us the very general region? Is it perhaps in West Yorkshire? If so I think I have been, although not explored it!
We can give the locations of mines in Derbyshire, this is just outside of Bakewell.

The one I know turns the river bright red when there has been torrential rain--or at least it used to when I was young. I think they may have done something about it since. You used to be able to sit in the double-decker bus and get a good view down onto the river and see bright red water gushing out of the adits. There were several along that stretch of river bank.
We have some coal mines near here that do the same thing.
What is the red color water gushing out from the mines, is it iron oxides, also seen it at many abandoned mines in Lancashire?
