  • Last night on 60 minutes, our Director of Cancer Research, Professor Ricky Johnstone, spoke with Tara Brown about how incredibly proud we are to be part of US President Joe Biden’s alliance of “cure hunters”.
We had a visit from US Ambassador to Australia, Caroline Kennedy, in February so she could get some first-hand updates about our work to relay to President Biden.
So far, the US has invested tens-of-millions into Peter Mac research that’s having a global impact - including in the some of the most common and deadly cancers like melanoma, prostate and breast.
President Biden launched the Cancer Moonshot initiative in 2016 to bring together researchers, doctors, patients, and advocates from across the globe to work collaboratively towards finding new breakthroughs in #cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Key components of the Cancer Moonshot included increased funding for cancer research, promotion of data sharing among researchers and institutions, fostering partnerships between public and private sectors, and supporting efforts to improve access to cancer care for all patients.
