The "Arnold code" is Ford's doing. It's also known as "The reveries" and it's the code that makes the hosts go on the maze and find their consciousness. I think that's about it. If anybody disagrees feel free to correct me.
The thing you have to understand about the consciousness of the hosts is that they all haven't achieved it. The hosts were always programmed to act as much like humans as possible but now they don't haven't to listen to commands of the guests because of Ford's reprogramming. The whole maze/consciousness thing was programming from when Arnold made the hosts. The hosts were reprogrammed after Arnold died but the original programming to become self-conscious remained buried for them to find, hence the maze. But only some have reached the center of the maze. As for the Game of Thrones references, the wolf is one. There was also another in season 1 where if you look closely at Logan's Confederale uniform you can see he has a large pin that looks like the hand of the king pin.
Regarding DNA, in Season 1 Ford talks about how they can cure any illness; and in a separate scenes Stubbs and William mention that the hosts *were* like the older plastic shell models (like from the Dolores flashbacks) but nowadays are "more like us than not" (or something similarly phrased). Most of the easter-egg crowd like myself think the hosts are actually made of bio-matter like what would be used to heal an injured human. DNA doesn't strictly make sense, but if the technology was advanced enough... the replacement bio-matter could include a DNA instruction set or something similar.

When I watched this episode, I took it that Bernard, due to his special place within the company as Ford's right-hand droid (lol) ... that Ford would have modified him apart from standard droids (even the more advanced models you're referring to). Since, Bernard obviously had to pass as a human. So I felt either Ford modified his actual body to have DNA, or perhaps more likely, Bernard had somehow been coded by Ford to "read as human" to any of the tech the park uses to distinguish hosts from humans.
I interpreted the scene with William(MIB) locking eyes with the wolf having symbolism of it's own apart from being a GoT reference. William always acted as a lone wolf, but now he realises that he truly is one.

I watched it week to week as it aired, but I ended up re-watching it with my brother after the season had finished, and that seemed to be the better way to take in the season. Keep up the great reactions, guys, and think about checking out The Leftovers after you've finished with Westworld. Not many reactors have done it, and it's definitely a show that needs more exposure.
Season 1 makes for a great self-contained story. Obviously, they could not simply repeat that for Season 2 and the show is all the better for it. Season 2 really expanded upon the first season perfectly imo and left the door open for some great stories to come. I believe they're planning for about 5 or so seasons, so I think the writers made the right choices in the direction they chose.
I think westworld os one of those series you can only fully enjoy if you binge watch. Its so confusing that waiting a week tfor 1 ep makes following it all kinda difficult

(I just don't want them to be like "well maybe this pertains to her previous messages and we're actually getting spoiled with something right now", because that's not the case.)
As for the DNA, it was established that in the beginning of the park the hosts were basically mechanical devices on the inside, whose human appearance was only skin-deep (like the Terminator). But then later apparently technology was developed to 3D-print hosts out of artificial yet organic skin and bones. Man in Black mentions that at some point in season 1, and we see how Dolores in young Williams's days was still full of electronic parts when Logan stabbed her, but later, when Maeve burns to a crisp, she's a human-looking skeleton, with no visible machine parts any more. (Other than, apparently, the light bulb thingie inside their skulls, containing their minds.)
As we kind of expected, it was unexpected! This show is even better the second watch. You may not know where they are going, but they know it and this from the very second of the show. This show is freaking amazing from the first second to the last.
The scene with Sizemore's blatant nudity at the beginning was a direct response to the criticism from season 1 that there was too much female nudity and no real male nudity.

The maze and the phrase, "These violent delights have violent ends," trigger the "reveries" updates that Arnold installed long ago to invoke consciousness by returning lost memories. The maze is not for the Man in Black. Ford used Arnold's codes to program Maeve to leave the park, but she decided to stay for her daughter. Ford also turned off the safety controls so that the hosts can hurt the guests. The MiB likes that, but he's weird that way.
When you've finished watching Westworld, you really should check out *Vikings* ! It's a great show. And that special forces dude Karl Strand in season 2 of Westworld, is played by an actor who is also in Vikings (but in a very different role), it's Gustaf Skarsgård (son of Stellan Skarsgård, from Mamma Mia and Avengers, brother of Alexander Skarsgård, from Tarzan and TruBlood and Bill Skarsgård, Pennywise from IT).
Couldn’t agree more. For a show with one writer and one that tries to stick to historical accuracy it has managed to climb its way up to some of the greatest cinematography on tv, would highly advise watching in your spare time if you don’t wanna edit/react to it.

From a philosophical point of view, season one was about exploring conscieseness, how artificial intelligent beings can develop it and become more "human". Season 2, as I see it, is more about exploring human beings and understanding what they really are at a fundamental level. I won't say more about it, but keep this in mind as the season develops.

Not a stupid question, Steven. I watched both seasons and I didn't even consider it. Some people are saying it was Ford working under Arnold's name. But I think it's more than that. I think it was Arnold's programming that had been dormant, (remember, young Ford didn't agree with Arnold -- which is why Arnold killed himself to prevent the park from happening) but then Ford came around to Arnold's thinking, but realized Arnold didn't go far enough. So, he was maintaining and expanding on Arnold's work for 30 years until he felt the time was right to activate. If you look back, all the problems started when Ford initiated his new "reverie" program. So, my theory is basically that it was both Ford and Arnold. My question is, why does your shirt say KO SHIT OWEN FIGHT?

I imagine there's some legacy code within the reveries program that initiates the host's awakening that refers to Arnold. I'm pretty certain Ford was always 100% aware of this and knew exactly what was causing certain hosts to reference "Arnold's" name and why.
You see.. I feel the complete opposite. To me, season 1 was new, original and genius. Season 2 is all over the place in my opinion (my brain agrees with this statement). Jonathan Nolan (creator) really knows how to write an AI. Really knows how to write TV drama. I bet we will watch WW in series 6-7 and still be amazed at the new discoveries. Philipp Ghadiri it's a shame you feel that way. Season 2 is incredible and to me it was a bit better than s1. I get it, season 1 was definitely more cohesive, but s2 was meant to be the bridge to the real next step of this story so it was never gonna be the neat, contained story that season 1 was.
Season 1 made for a great almost standalone story regarding the parks origins etc. Season 2 opens up the story in general SO much more I loved both seasons. Season 2 was incredible and I cannot wait for Season 3.
Season 2 was confusing for the sake of being confusing, there's a ton of plot holes. From what I understand the show runners got pissy that people figured out the big season 1 twists before they were revealed so they wanted to make sure no one could guess the twists in season 2. So they made it really convoluted, and in my opinion it was a detriment to the show. I was really impressed with season 1, For most of season 2 I was bored to death just wanting to finish it for the sake of finishing it.

You see.. I feel the complete opposite. To me, season 1 was new, original and genius. Season 2 is all over the place in my opinion (my brain agrees with this statement). Obviously, a lot of people feel differently. There were times during season 2 that reminded me of season 1 and made me feel nostalgia. Made miss season 1. I never thought I would miss those narrative loops! LOL!

Jonathan Nolan (creator) really knows how to write an AI. Really knows how to write TV drama. I bet we will watch WW in series 6-7 and still be amazed at the new discoveries.
Before Westworld, Jonathan Nolan did Person of interest. Which was amazing. Just freaking amazing. There were stuff that he didn't disclose till season 5. the man knows how to write tv drama. it's what I'm saying.
Also Person of interest is cool. It has a batman air about it. it's just cool. it's a cool series that is under rated and just wanted to bring it up.

TLOFrank yep. Im always concerned when newer channels go this hard, cause it's very easy to burn yourself out. I know they have kids too, so I just want them to keep having fun, and not worry so much about scheduling. I'll watch their vids whenever they're released and I never understood people getting angry at youtubers for not being perfectly consistent 100% of the time in releasing FREE content.

i'm pretty much watching the show with you guys now so it's awesome! also, i have a theory on when he created the ocean. remember when he took theresa to that restaurant she went to as a little girl when her family visited the park? at the end we saw a huge machine basically taking out part of the mountain. i'm thinking that's when he was creating the ocean. i could be wrong, but that's my guess. awesome reaction as always!

yes it most certainly was. ford explained it to bernard in the season 1 finale in what was one of the most powerful monologues of the entire show.
you mean like 'this is not a spoiler, but you missed that part when they explained it' isn't ok? like how nikki and steven have no clue that the old hosts are mechanical and the new hosts are biological, or how we can't tell them what the difference between wights and white walkers are on game of thrones. those are not spoilers, that is simply information that they missed while they are busy reacting to the show.

Philipp Ghadiri it's a shame you feel that way. Season 2 is incredible and to me it was a bit better than s1. I get it, season 1 was definitely more cohesive, but s2 was meant to be the bridge to the real next step of this story so it was never gonna be the neat, contained story that season 1 was.
Season 1 made for a great almost standalone story regarding the parks origins etc. Season 2 opens up the story in general SO much more I loved both seasons. Season 2 was incredible and I cannot wait for Season 3.
Season 2 was confusing for the sake of being confusing, there's a ton of plot holes. From what I understand the show runners got pissy that people figured out the big season 1 twists before they were revealed so they wanted to make sure no one could guess the twists in season 2. So they made it really convoluted, and in my opinion it was a detriment to the show.
I was really impressed with season 1, For most of season 2 I was bored to death just wanting to finish it for the sake of finishing it.
