@@shikeridoo The Oxford University year starts in October after a long vacation and is divided into three terms of 8 weeks each: at Oxford they are named Michaelmas, Hilary and Trinity. Tutors can set exams at the start of every term (called Collections) to check an undergraduate's progress. The timing of intermediate examinations depends on the subject bring read. But all undergraduates sit final formal written examination papers, when formal academic dress is worn (the requirement in 1974 when I sat finals. It might have been relaxed almost 50 years later!).

I need to ask a question(s) but I don’t know if I’ll get answers.
I’m from the U.S. and I’m going for history degree because of how many fields it opens up which includes my passion of researching. Is Oxford a good institution for that specific degree? I might have a chance to get into the university but I’m not sure yet. I don’t want to give my hopes up. It’s been my dream ever since middle school to go to Oxford but I also have an opportunity for the U.S government to pay for my tuition at Texas tech. I don’t really want to go to Texas tech. There are many benefits to both and I can’t decide what to do. I have awhile but I’m I’ve started making decisions to help myself out.
Edit: I’m applying next year in 2025 for Oxford so I have time to still decide if I do get in
