Thanks Stan, we really are happy with our Ventus OGI mwir camera and I always say, "it just wants to see gas!" Ours is on a Ronin gyro stabilized platform mounted to a Robinson R44 helicopter used in aerial gas leak detection.
I am reading a thesis which goal is to detect thin clouds to correct astronomy images for grey attenuation. They are using a LWIR cam. From what you say, a cooled MWIR cam would be preferable ?
As a filmmaker, I prefer the look of LWIR. But would want to see the resolution, sensitivity (low noise), the framerates as well as the lens options of a cooled system. So could you run a cooled LWIR system for the 8-12µm spectrum?
