I would not put Anne Hathaway's Catwoman in league with Michelle's. Michelle Pfieffer embodied her as an iconic counterpart to Batman. Hathaway not so much. Hardly as memorable by the film's end. EDIT: Especially since Hathway also takes the #9 spot in a movie that I really enjoyed her in.
bitca222 I totally agree with Anne Hathaway’s catwoman being horrible. She doesn’t compare to Michelle pfieffer and Michelle should have ranked higher.
Ellen page (: Hard Candy is an amazing movie, but I think you kind of can view her as a hero because she's taking revenge in the name of justice.. But then again, maybe the Bride (Kill Bill) is too?
I was just having a conversation with someone about this and I don't understand how people could say The Bride is an "anti hero". She never harms an innocent person, or even endangers an innocent. She offers mercy multiple times, shows that she is honorable, and even gives Gogo a chance to not even fight at all. From our point of view in the movies, she is a hero. Her past actions are not clear and they have nothing to do with the story that we know. The person also said that these movies have nothing to do with honor, which I strongly do not agree with.
***** This has nothing to do with nothing lol, but I love Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. I think she's better than the original. Actually all of the younger cast in the prequels are better than the original cast IMO.
American version is much better. This version is way more cleverly directed and performed. Rooney's portrait of Lizabeth is much more natural than Numi's one.
Anne Hathaway's character in Rachel Getting Married deserved a higher place on this list. As does Mavis in Young Adult. Two exceptional films. And the fact that Thelma and Louise, Lisbeth and Beatrix are on this list when the only thing they did was defend themselves seems a little fucked up.
"Heathers" and "Carrie" are classic films.. Kathy Bates from Misery (with James Caan, stuck in the bed); Glenn Close (with Michael Douglas) in Fatal Attraction; Sharon Stone (with Michael Douglas, again) in Basic Instinct...
I love seeing Veronica on the list, but I don't feel like you portrayed her correctly. None of the times she killed were intentional, even if she did want some of her victims dead.
Speaking of Catwoman, I totally agree that Michelle Pfieffer's portrayal is the best yet in live action but is it bad that I really like Halle Berry's version as well? to be honest i don't really care what you guys are gonna say. i just wanted to say that someone out there actually likes 2004's Catwoman lol
I love how they acknowledged both performances for Catwoman and Lisbeth Salander, but conveniently left out Chloe Grace Moretz's interpretation of Carrie. It's shade well deserved... but still shade.
Oh my word I love Charlize Theron. So glad she was on this list but you should have put Selene: underworld because she is by far one of the most badass women I have ever seen
Why is The Bride considered an "anti hero"? Vengeance doesn't make you an anti hero, so give me three reasons that in these movies, she can be viewed as an anti hero.
This is easily the lamest selection MsMojo has come up with to date. Anne Hathaway in Rachel Getting Married? AYFKM? How about Barbara Stanwick in Double Indemnity, Gene Tierney in Leave Her To Heaven, Lizabeth Scott in Too Late For Tears, Jane Greer in Out of the Past, and Lana Turner in The Postman Always Rings Twice? And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I could have understood this list if you put in the disclaimer that you were only considering films made in the past thirty years, but then you threw in Gone With the Wind and ruined that alibi. If you ever put together a list of the lamest attempts at list, the MsMojo deserves a spot at the top of the heap.
Great list but, Kim from RGM is not someone who is actively avoiding responsability for the death of her brother nor using her issues as a way to get attention in her sister's wedding, she is filled with self hatred and is the first time she'd been out of rehab in a while so..
Virtually all of these aren't Anti-Heros. They are either Anti-Villains or Villain Protagonist. For instance, Catwoman is an Anti-Villian, while Veronica and The Bride are Villain Protagonists. Try getting your terminology straight.
I would not put Anne Hathaway's Catwoman in league with Michelle's. Michelle Pfieffer embodied her as an iconic counterpart to Batman. Hathaway not so much. Hardly as memorable by the film's end. EDIT: Especially since Hathway also takes the #9 spot in a movie that I really enjoyed her in.
yeah also she had that huge sex appeal
to be honest they were more memorable in their Catwoman's performance than Halle berry
Blanca Rosales Michelle memorable? Definitely. Anne? Not so much...I'd rank her Catwoman among Halle's...
Totally Agree! in fact, you can notice Nolan was ¨inspired¨ by some Burton scenes.
bitca222 I totally agree with Anne Hathaway’s catwoman being horrible. She doesn’t compare to Michelle pfieffer and Michelle should have ranked higher.
I'm so happy the Bride is #1. She's the most badaas anti hero ever!
that woman from Gone Girl
She would probably be number 1 if they made a "Top 10 crazy bitches in movies" list.
She was a straight up villain.
Completely agree. Her husband cheated on her boohoo. She used that as an excuse to be an evil c#@t
I never left a movie theater feeling so terrified.
Franklin Mena You should go see The Neon Demon. That movie is fucked up.
Amy Dunne frm "Gone Girl" deserves to be in the top spot..
I agree with this choice Beatrix Kiddo aka Bride in KILL BILL.
Mine is holli would from cool world
angelina jolie in girl interrupted?
YAS!
In what way is she heroic?
Andrew Smith she's not that's the point
Amazing Amy in Gone Girl and Tracy Flick in Election should be there
Tracy Flick character is the mother of them all!
In what way are either of them heroic?
Amy in Gone Girl is a villain, not an antihero.
I was hoping to see Roxie Hart and/or Velma Kelly from "Chicago".
charlize theron was really good in young adult
The girl in Hard candy (I don't remember her name) wouldn't fit here?
Ellen page (:
Hard Candy is an amazing movie, but I think you kind of can view her as a hero because she's taking revenge in the name of justice.. But then again, maybe the Bride (Kill Bill) is too?
I was refering to Ellen's charachter, but thanks n.n and well, I guess it could be that, it depends on the point of view
Here's a good one you missed: Rexy the T-Rex from Jurassic Park and Jurassic World
I silently screamed when my girl Veronica Sawyer showed up
Me too!
Madeline Nagy Heathers is probably my favorite Winona Ryder movie. Her character is badass!
Mystique would have made a good addition to the list. Pretty good list though with a couple I'm not familiar with.
Mystique isn't a antihero though, she's pure villain. lol
The original mysique was a sadistic killer so she wouldn't belong on the list
Jennifer lawrence's Mystique is an anti hero but the original Mystique is a cold hearted villain.
I prefer the villainous Mystique tbh 😊
***** This has nothing to do with nothing lol, but I love Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. I think she's better than the original.
Actually all of the younger cast in the prequels are better than the original cast IMO.
The English version of the girl with the dragon tattoo is so bad. If you want to see it, please, please, see the Swedish version.
American version is much better. This version is way more cleverly directed and performed. Rooney's portrait of Lizabeth is much more natural than Numi's one.
I think there was a movie critic who didn't like Frozen because Elsa reminded her too much of Carrie White.
Nina Sayers from "Black Swan"
She is not a hero or an antihero...just a protagonist.
yay, Hear me roar!! I'm a Lannister
Yes, The Bride is so badass. Glad she's number 1. Would Angelina Jolie from Salt count because she would deserved to be on this list.
why wasn't maleficent on this list?
I think because she became a hero at the end
yeah you're right!
Because the Maleficent everyone knows was a wicked witch
Johanna Mason better be on this list.
+TheGabrielmugue And??? The list is about antiheroes in films, not lead characters.
+TheGabrielmugue Wow really? I had no idea!!!
+TheGabrielmugue cat woman is not the lead batman is
TheGabrielmugue Johanna is one of the main female leads with Katniss being the main character.
OMG Scarlet is an amazing ant-hero. She should have been number because she did it first and best.
and you forgot about Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter franchise.
She's a villian, not an antihero.
Gone Girl
Margot at the Wedding
Maleficent
August: Osage County
...
No HM for Zoe Saldana in Columbiana as Catalina
Where's Lisa from Girl Interrupted?
Dominique Swain's 'Lolita' portrayal should've made honorable mentions at least
Rosamund pike in Gone girl
Mystique should be 1 of them. I think.
agreed
Definitely. She wants to fight alongside the xmen and protect them but she ain't afraid to kill a bitch 😊
Depends which Mystique...Rebecca Romijn's version is pure villain, but Jennifer Lawrence's version does fit the antihero mold
Gabriela Mallo I disagree, Rebecca's Mystique was a hero for mutants, just not a hero for humans.
"Heathers" and "Carrie" are classic films.. Kathy Bates from Misery (with James Caan, stuck in the bed); Glenn Close (with Michael Douglas) in Fatal Attraction; Sharon Stone (with Michael Douglas, again) in Basic Instinct...
The bride from kill bill should be on this if not no. 1
Let me cast a spell. ...aaaaaaand VOILA!
Ms Mojo should have been 1#.
What about Angelina Jolies character in Foxfire?
Some of the narration in this videos is the worst I've ever heard. She sounds like a personal assistant app from 2006.
Charlize Theron as Aileen Wuornos in "Monster" !!!!!!!!!!!!
That was my first thought. - Maybe she's considered as a villain or even as a kind of 'victim'?
I love seeing Veronica on the list, but I don't feel like you portrayed her correctly. None of the times she killed were intentional, even if she did want some of her victims dead.
My favorite is one the rest of the world hasn't found yet. So, I'll pick anything Clea Duvall has done in place of that.
Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman!!😁👍🏿
Speaking of Catwoman, I totally agree that Michelle Pfieffer's portrayal is the best yet in live action but is it bad that I really like Halle Berry's version as well?
to be honest i don't really care what you guys are gonna say. i just wanted to say that someone out there actually likes 2004's Catwoman lol
I really like it too.
This was a good list. I am very pleased with #1
the kill bill movies are among my favorites
What about Tilda Swinton as "Julia" (2008)???
That was a devastating performance!
Karin Wahlrab What do you mean devastating?
Apologies, I mean it was a very emotional performance. She did a great job with a very complex character.
😀 Tilda should have won an Oscar for it
So true! And where is her Oscar nomination for that role? It's Tilda at her best.
Mrs. Lovett is not an anti-hero at all. She's a straight up villain.
I love how they acknowledged both performances for Catwoman and Lisbeth Salander, but conveniently left out Chloe Grace Moretz's interpretation of Carrie.
It's shade well deserved...
but still shade.
Yeah she's had a few roles that could be on here. Let Me In & Kickass come to mind.
this was actually a very great list.
Gone with the Wind is one of my father's favourite films.
WHERE is Wednesday Adams?!
Oh my gosh. YESSS!!! I totally agree with you
I can't wait for the top 20!
my favorite female anti-hero is Jane from The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer!
Oh my word I love Charlize Theron. So glad she was on this list but you should have put Selene: underworld because she is by far one of the most badass women I have ever seen
Helena Bonham Carter's role as the Queen of Hearts should have been in this list. Great sinister yet somehow more lovable than in McSweeney.
Love to see Rachel's getting married's Kym and Mavis Gary here but I would add Marla Singer (Fight Club) and definitely Amy Dunne.
Why is The Bride considered an "anti hero"? Vengeance doesn't make you an anti hero, so give me three reasons that in these movies, she can be viewed as an anti hero.
***** Yeah but in the movie, she did nothing wrong from our perspective. She also frequently showed mercy to innocent people, and even her enemies.
Vivian Leigh is like the most beautiful woman that's ever lived.
Shaw and Root from Person of Interest
Ohh my god u didn't mention glenn close in fatal attraction. 😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲
You deserve a like and lots of internet love for including Lisbeth Salander
emily thorne from abc's revenge played by Emily Vancamp is just the best for me!!!
I'm glad you put number one where it belongs
This is easily the lamest selection MsMojo has come up with to date. Anne Hathaway in Rachel Getting Married? AYFKM? How about Barbara Stanwick in Double Indemnity, Gene Tierney in Leave Her To Heaven, Lizabeth Scott in Too Late For Tears, Jane Greer in Out of the Past, and Lana Turner in The Postman Always Rings Twice? And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. If you ever put together a list of the lamest attempts at list, the MsMojo deserves a spot at the top of the heap.
Lisbeth Salander, Lorraine Broughton,
Carrie White and The Punisher need to team up and raise hell on the criminal underworld!!!
Great list but, Kim from RGM is not someone who is actively avoiding responsability for the death of her brother nor using her issues as a way to get attention in her sister's wedding, she is filled with self hatred and is the first time she'd been out of rehab in a while so..
No Roberta the T-Rexy from Jurassic Park™?!
Is Electra on the female Anti Hero movie list?
What about Catherine Llewellyn in The Proof, played by Gwyneth Paltrow?
I loved her performance, the plot and the way her character was written.
Amy Elliott dunne in gone girl!!
Thanks for making my list guys 😊
mine is Carrie white and Johana
My favourite anti hero is Harley Quinn
Bridget from The Last Seduction should’ve been at the top of the list.
Hannah should be on the list.
I can't believe people are saying Gone Girl. she was awful not to mention psychotic and a murderer
Um...Johanna Mason from Hunger Games? Should have been at least an honorable mention.
Veronica Mars? She had her own movie recently.
I am surprised to see that the honorable mentions weren't in the top ten
Mystique should have been on this list.
Damn straight, she's number 1.
THANK GOODNESS THEY INCLUDED LIZBETH!
Suzy from Wild Things
5:22 omg that was a great movie
Pam Grier? Foxy Brown? Coffy?
Kill Bill is my favorite movie of all time !
who looked up watchmojo's channel and found this channel?
Where was Hit-Girl (Kick-Ass)
Eli (Let The Right One In)
Abby (Let Me In)
Selene (Underworld)
Elektra???
A lot of these characters aren't "heroes", but just villains who were the lead character of story.
OMG AMY DUNNE? She shoulda been on the list.
lisbeth is my number 1
Charlize was robbed of an Oscar for Young Adult
Virtually all of these aren't Anti-Heros. They are either Anti-Villains or Villain Protagonist. For instance, Catwoman is an Anti-Villian, while Veronica and The Bride are Villain Protagonists. Try getting your terminology straight.
My favorite female movie anti-hero is holli would from cool world. +MsMojo
beatrix kiddo is effin awesome
They forgot rizzo from grease, the leader of pink ladies"
They should've mentioned Eli from Let the Right One In.
I gotta appreciate Veronica Sawyer!
Scarlet o Hara was annoying and snobby. Catwoman should have been MUCH higher
Vivien Leigh
The original Swedish version of The Girl With the dragon tattoo is far better than that Hollywood rubbish
...........
amy dunne?
R.I.P. QUEEN CARRIE
