3D Printed marble machine

- This is the second marble Roll I've made. The first was made from wood and was about the size of this one, 2'X4'. That was 30 years ago, or more. I decided to try and print one after buying an Ender 3 Pro 3D printer.
I used Fusion 360 by Autodesk for all the design work. This was my first experience using a 3D cad program.
* Note to anyone wanting to reproduce what is shown in the video; First step would be to buy 5.0mm Stainless Steel Ball Chain and try to create a loop of 68 balls for the drive chain. You cannot use the splicing links as they are too bulky. The fabrication of the chain loops was fairly difficult.
Also, there are 73 files.
* I am currently working on another version that doesn't involve splicing the ball chain. I plan on making all .STL files available and instructions for anyone wanting to build their own.

What you do when you have 14 rolls of gold filament, 100 screws, 50 molybdenum magnets and 4 ball bearings and a thousand hours free time just lying around. :D Awesome, entertaining and very, very clever. As others have said, thanks for sharing.

Now this is what I am talking about!! much better than when I was going to try and make this out of copper and glass marbles on a steel frame...
what program are you using to help you design these?
How far did you get on copper design?
100% but had to sell it when I moved from Japan to the US

It's sad that there's no file to produce this work.
Looks great! However it looks like you’ll only need to smooth out the inside of the track to help the marbles roll down the track.
I wanted the marbles to travel slowly, all but 3 of the features uses a twin rail system. The "rails" are very close to the rotational centers of the marbles. They are moving slowly, but spinning rather quickly.
This is great. I would love to make one with my son. Please let us know if we can download your files somewhere!

Is the stuttering at the top elevator caused by the cumulative backlash? it's very interesting to watch it become more and more distinct.
I believe it's a minor design flaw in the chain cogs. The balls in the ball chain seem to get hung up when they're supposed to be withdrawing from the cog. If I were to redesign them, I would make the fillet around the top edge larger. Thanks for watching.

I used 1/2” ball bearings from amazon. VOLV Precision 100 1/2" Inch (.50) Chrome Steel Bearing Balls G25

Everything is for sale! I guess it depends on where you live. This is a large item to send. Also, hanging them is very particular. It has to hang exactly level in relation to where it was when I built it, or it won't work. There's about $300 of materials and 200-300 hours of designing and building.....$$$
