In Hawaii we have a similar looking but very good tasting sea urchin I was told they were called edible sea urchin bright orange and similar to tiny caviar very 👍
Watching from the UK ❤ The translation is great always- i feel as if I'm listening to a friend even if we don't speak the same language. I can understand Masaru's sense of humour, cadence, enthusiasm and quirky self in tune with the translations. He is very personable ❤❤ I don't eat shellfish or fish let alone the rare ones and it thrills me to see Masaru have such a passion, his free diving is beautiful and I've learned so much about the biology of sea creatures, their behaviours, structures, and a man's ability to keep doing the thing he loves even if it poisons him 😂🎉❤ Masaru is such a Chad and I love his passion and way of teaching. He's a fantastic teacher to us because he has genuine interest and enthusiasm. I would love to see a collab between Jacob the Maine Lobsterman and Masaru one day. They have similar vibes and i bet they could show eachother tons and Masaru would have fun on the lobster 🦞 boat!!
Hello from the Netherlands! I've been watching for a few months and this bulk reuploading situation made it much easier for me to find the videos I hadn't yet seen. Thank you for your work!
what is this!!!! You should have gotten some locals to help you out!! Isnt there a taoster on the bench? We have Kina splitters too which makes it a lot easier to get them out of the shells
He sits there in agony trying to get this uni down, then the translation says, "that was a great meal" 😂😂😂 Auto translate doesn't pick up on context for sure.
I am watching from Aotearoa - New Zealand, just a question… why are you putting them in salt water? 😭 I’m Māori and this hurts 😭😭 but happy you made it here, enjoy your stay!!
@@taregindayou’re not meant to put it in any water once you get the roe/gonads out of the kina shell. Just scoop them straight out with a spoon into your mouth or into a dry empty bowl/container.
i heard that dark and discolored urchins are low quality, so maybe the yellow ones would taste better? really sad that masaru couldnt enjoy good kina though.
Ok, I got to eat sea urchin before and didn't like it. Mind you, i didn't have it with my favorite, some sushi rice. But it's nice to know I wasn't the only one to think it was terrible. I still want a do over to try them again.
Are these super invasive there? I’ve been seeing a lot of content on invasive urchins being in a lot of places but I don’t know where this is from or if they are actually invasive there
Good day! Hope you are well after eating that sea urchins!😂. I am no food guru or cook or chev, but wouldn't it better if you leave it in salt water, then cook it in a bit of water and then add oil, onion, garlic and spices? I am just a bit confused now, just wondering, are you staying in Nieu Zeeland or Japan?
"Everyone.. bad news. It's tERRIBLE" had me rolling on the floor laughing. Hopefully preparing them in this new way makes them delicious.
In this episode Masaru learns once again: Only the japanese variety of sea urchin is good.
I applaud you for eating all of it even when they tasted so bad.
Bro can catch, clean, and cook everything under the sea but can't make toast. 😂

I guess those sea urchins aren't good for eating. Thanks for being brave.
Māori love them

Your commentary is sooo funny! The suspense, I could never imagine going after sea urchins! Good video
Really appreciate your honesty 😂
Watching from Georgia, USA. I love your videos. Good job on your English by the way!
Me too. Love his videos.

Where I live, people often grill it with eggs + cooking oil + green onions, it's very delicious
Isn’t this an old video that was reposted?

Having this much videos this making me overjoyed, I'm glad :)
How do sea urchins say hello to each other? With a tidal wave…..😂. Hope this makes him laugh after eating that.
Definitely the wildest thing I’ve seen on this channel haha. The sea urchin on bread just looked nasty hahaha
He sits there in agony trying to get this uni down, then the translation says, "that was a great meal" 😂😂😂
Auto translate doesn't pick up on context for sure.
Yeah, what he actually said, ご馳走様でした, is more just a way to give thanks for the food. It's not appraising the food as good or bad, necessarily, haha.
ヒトデ味は流石に食えんやろうなー・・
昔、ヒトデ食べてたで😂😂
I view on phone ( and I don't understand jp) sometimes the animeted jp texts overlap with the cc and makes it harder to read
it doesn't happen to me

Thats why its free and limits are so high.

9:34 i wouldn't call it a GREAT meal, but it was definitely one of the meals of all time!

ウニは種類や鮮度がよくないと美味しく食べられません…
うーんウニが不味いのはウニの種類がちがうのかな😅

Sorry to hear they weren't very tasty. Maybe you're right that they should be soaked in salt water for a while.

ウニならウニ丼の方が良いなぁ。
Leave it in sea water overnight and it will sweeten
Oh no! I am so sorry it is a bad meal. Please have a revenge round. I hope you won't have a stomach pain.

In America they are about twice as long as that and I put the rest is the freezer lol
