I am from Trinidad moved to the states when I was 10 and I have had people ask me am I from the South because I have learned to hide my accent.I have no ties to the south whatsoever.
We cover our accent so people can under t and us because sometimes it's so thick or we talk so fast people don't understand and we have to repeat ourselves or they just don't understand our terms.

She lived in Tampa Florida attending USF. At this time her fascination was with dancing which does very well. I knew she expressed interest in Acting at that time but never did Imagine she would be where she is today. She worked hard she has degrees in the performing arts field. She is,very well trained.

Like any place, you have to adapt to the surroundings but their accent always slips the cracks, and they speak in their accent around family or their West Indian friends who can understand them.
This woman is so perfectly beautiful I'm aware that I could be jealous but jeez she is stunning and she seems strong gracious kind and humble that I'll just prefer to admire her and wish her many more blessings in life.

That's why I admire Rihanna so much. She doesn't hide her Bajan (Barbadian) accent, like it's something to be ashamed of. On the flip side, we have taxi drivers here in Barbados who put on fake American accents when soliciting tourists.
