Alysha is FLAWLESS. She is an amazing performer, and more importantly, a genuine person. She was so nice when I met her at the stage door. She stopped and talked to me, we had short conversation with tons of laughs and before she left she gave me a huge hug. And that's the kind of stars Broadway needs!! Needless to say, she will be Broadway's next queen!!
She's perfect. She's amazing. She's fabulous. I love her.
Watch Jay Armstrong Johnson move in anticipation of the music. With that timing, each move seems to initiate the beat. His moves reinforce the comic character, the naive sailor on a night on a night in town. He does all of that while giving the stage to Alysha Umphress and her wonderful singing. It's truly brilliant character dancing.
Jay is so adorable and Alysha is absolutely fabulous!

I've been a fan of Ms. Umphress since being introduced to her through Jeff Blumenkrantz's podcast a few years ago. She and Jay Armstrong Johnson look already damned good here, and must be fantastic by now! So glad that this great score and show are getting, apparently, a worthy revival. I want to go to New York!

I just grabbed this CD at the library on a whim and this track.... it blew me away so much that I just HAD to see woman perform it. I am so thankful it was uploaded here. She is amazing. I am a new fan. Go Alysha Umphress!

I saw both productions of On the Town - even both incarnations of the George C. Wolfe production - and enjoyed both Hildys. However, this more recent production (directed by John Rando, with choreography by Joshua Bergasse) left the earlier one in the dust: the fact that between the summer run in Central Park and the one on Broadway the Wolfe version actually changed choreographers (!) showed a fundamental misunderstanding of the show. In its latest revival, all the elements - casting, direction, choreography (and musical staging) and design - were in total synch. A great night in the theater!
