Thank you wild for all your videos!! I made beautiful pictures in pencil and wanted to learn to apply my skills with oil painting! All the RUclips videos I could never grasp until your videos! You take the time to explain in the most easiest way!!! Now I’m painting with oils and love it!!!! Just started and I watch all your tutorials!!!
Wonderful! Thanks for watching and I can't wait to see your work feel free to share it with me on Twitter! ruclips.net/channel/UCJ0nGU-oZthfagTyVVXiVQA
I'm colorblind and just started painting a few weeks ago, and it turns out I don't actually suck! Your videos are great for rookies like me. Keep it up 👍
Ha ha ha, Thats great that you are slaying trees now! I am not colorblind, and some of my favorite paintings are limited pallet paintings or black and white ones. Don't let it hinder you, crush those paintings 💪
Thank you! Always struggle with my trees, especially evergreens. Nice to have detailed instruction on one thing rather than trying to learn an entire painting.
Great Videos thanks for making them, this has inspired me a lot, and after painting for over 35 years it has inspired me to start my own channel, Thank you :)
thank you for the help!!!! Can’t wait to watch more of your videos. I like how you change the camera view, also how explain in detail the little things of how to hold, how to load and how to press!!!
Your videos are awesome! Clear, straightforward and thorough. I love that you show specifically how to hold the brush for specific effects. I'm just starting out with oils and these videos help me greatly! Thanks Sir!
I noticed after you put the black gesso on the canvas you put on the background colors, do you have to put on some liquid black or liquid clear before the background colors or do you just paint right on the black gesso? I'm new to this and it gets a little confusing which base layer goes on first and which color to use. And sometimes it looks like Bob Ross doesn't use gesso he just puts the magic white right on the canvas. Just trying to get a grip on this before my mind blows up, lol. Thanks, your videos have been very helpful, lot's of great info!
Correct - I do add a very thin layer of liquid clear when I use black canvases.... So (Gesso then liquid clear then base colors then start painting) - Bobs canvases are already pre-gessoed which is why he can just start painting or magic white.... I hope that helps you out 💪
Great videos. Love all your tutorials that I watch over and over. I have such problems with bushes/shrubbery. I can't get them to be differentiated. I get a big blob of smeared colors. Would love to see one of your videos on that subject.
I know this is an old video but any help with teaching on a step by step is helpful. Mountains with putting white paint for snow is one I really struggle with and how to get a line of white in the middle not been able to do that
Excellent information for painting trees. can you tell me how long the liquid white one mixes up lasts once applied to the canvas. Can one continue simply painting say, the next day?
Denise Garland Depending on the coat and canvas, it will last a few days to a few weeks. Thanks for watching I have a new art channel ( ruclips.net/user/wildcreates ) Feel free to follow there :)
Brilliant! Thank you very much! You got yourself another subscriber! 🤗 And an epic binge watching marathon of your videos shall now commence 🤣. RIP my sleep, my curiosity gland requires full satisfaction now.
sharayu ranade This is wet on wet but you can apply the same rules to traditional. Thanks for watching I have a new art channel ( ruclips.net/user/wildcreates ) Feel free to follow there :)
Just spent 4 hours painting an awesome background just to mess up my trees. Not sure what it am doing wrong? I wish I could attach a picture so you can assist. I have a number 4 fan brush. Is that maybe too big?
Hey, love the tutorials - they’ve been a huge help in learning wet on wet! Do you know of any good synthetic brushes to use? I don’t want to use hog brushes and so far I just can’t get the details that you and others get using the synthetic brushes I currently have. Thanks!
@@Wild4 Awesome, thank you so much! I also suspect I may be using too much liquid white, I will try an even lighter coat and see if that makes a difference too :)
I have three different synthetic fan brushes, good quality and it still doesn't work. I have had to use a filbert brush. If you have had some success please let me know what you did. Thanks.
Hmmm... Never heard that one before. Perhaps you Roku needs an update since they are just YT videos. Thanks for the kind words. I will keep making videos that you can hopefully see 😝- Happy Painting 💪
We will conquer our trees together Ash :P - You should get an Instagram or Twitter. Its fun to post your art. Plus you get to see and be inspired by lot of others cool art projects out there. Happy painting :)
Such a nice video tutorial with a wonderful style. You are a brilliant teacher wild but I will request to kindly speak a bit slow like Bob Ross so that we, the non native speakers of English, could also understand your beautiful tips and techniques... Cheers
Ha ha ha thanks - Its more like nerves make me speak fast. Being in front of the camera is tough at times. I will try to adjust as I get more comfortable - Thanks for watching 💪
Wild4Games thanks a lot for considering my humble request. I'm also a teacher. Stage fright is the same feeling as you face due to camera. I would suggest to record the same video at least two times and then watch the difference and if possible make some people sit in front of you. So you will be talking to them and your speech will be on normal pace. Cheers
I bought the Bob Ross master set, which only comes with a handful of brushes. My first painting was actually coming out decent. That is, until I got to the middle ground. My first evergreen just smeared off my fan brush. If it’s the consistency of the paint, I don’t know how to fix it. I mixed the same colors that bob used and everything. HELP
I think trees are the hardest to do - The only advice I can give is buy some canvas paper and just paint tree after tree. Around your tenth tree things start to click and you will be good. If you need any more tips , I started a new channel ( ruclips.net/channel/UCJ0nGU-oZthfagTyVVXiVQA ) feel free to sub there :)
Instead of white, just use a few colors that work with the scene ( Like Yellows, Greens, Reds, Browns, etc) and leave them a little marbled when mixed. Then you can use which ever brush you feel comfortable with to tap on highlights. 💪
Another Wild video from Wild! Great job, Ryan! I have found that using a secondary shadow color also adds a ton of depth! PM me on Twitch so I can send you a canvas, bro! Thanks again!
Thanks Buddy, I normally only use 2 colors on pine trees. But in big bushy trees I like to use a lot of colors. I will message you next time I am streaming :)
Courtney Mariah Work them through your paint more to get an even coating. This will hold them together more... Thanks for watching I have a new art channel ( ruclips.net/user/wildcreates ) Feel free to follow there :)
this is not good i did nto know that you meant to put the red on the outside of the circlle of yellow and then the blue on the outside of the circle of red too confusing. step by step please.
The colors are just for a basic background ( just like it says in the video) If the background is too confusing for you omit it and just concentrate on the trees itself
we need to see what you actually do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! did you allow the yellow to dry before you put the red on? See what I mean?
Lost me with the ad in the middle. 😡 You're a good teacher, but, by no means, are your videos of a high enough quality to warrant advertising like a production from a major media outlet. I *donate* to PBS, but even if I didn't the programs would be ad free. You ain't there, yet.
You realize that ads help me earn money, which allow me to buy art supplies to make more art videos to help others (people like yourself). Without them I could afford to help people. If you don't like ads I would recommend buying lessons online from skillshare and so forth!
@@Wild4 Better idea - sell your paintings! Those who can, do, ya' know. Why take advice from an "artist" who can't make a living (or pay for their hobby) by selling their art?

Hello. I love your videos. They are very educational. I was wondering why don't you just use a black canvas?

How do you create highlights without making it look like snow.
Instead of white, just use a few colors that work with the scene ( Like Yellows, Greens, Reds, Browns, etc) and leave them a little marbled when mixed. Then you can use which ever brush you feel comfortable with to tap on highlights. 💪
How do you make the shape so defined? Mine look like triangles
Best answer: Take a spare canvas and only doe trees... By your 4th or 5th tree this will start to click on how to make true shapes.
Wild4Games thanks so much
Thank you!!
