ہمیں پتہ ہی نہیں چلا افی بھائی اور آپ ہمارے شہر سے ہو کر چلے بھی گئے ۔ قلعہ شیخوپورہ کی اسی فی صد زمین پر اس کے ارد گرد آبادیاں بن چکی ہیں ۔ وہ کنواں جو عہد جہانگیری میں قلعے کے عین درمیان میں تھا ، اب قلعے سے باہر ہے ۔ اس جگہ کو سکھ دور میں رانی لاڈھی نے محل کے لیے پسند کیا اور اس کا محل قلعہ کے کھنڈر پہ بنایا گیا ۔ میں اس کی چھت پہ بھی گئی ہوں ۔ سب سے اوپر والی منزل کے کمروں کی چھتیں دیکھنے سے تعلق رکھتی ہیں ۔درمیانی منزل کے دروازے 71 کی جنگ کے مہاجروں نے اکھاڑ کر جلا لیے ۔ اب وہ بے در کے ایوان چمگاڈروں کی آماجگاہ ہیں ۔ بہرحال آپ کی کاوش قابل قدر ہے ۔

In 1950, I with my younger brother and a friend stowed away in a train from Sangla Hill o Sheikhupura to see the Fort. We spent half a day there and were fascinated with the age, quality and grandeur of the Fort. We returned home hoping nobody had noticed us leaving, but someone had tipped of my father about boarding the train at Sangla Hill, about 35-40 miles away from Sheikhupura. Our father beat us bad to teach a lesson, not to repeat such an endeavor. It seems that the crying Rani at the Fort had exacted revenge. Thank you for refreshing memories. Sangla Hill had a Hill, where Alexander the Great and his army camped 327 B.C.at a nearby well.
