Check out the upgraded Cosmanized Moxon Vise Hardware Kit: robcosman.com/collections/workbench-accessories/products/cosmanized-woodriver-moxon-vise-hardware-kit
Rob, I have a huge amount of respect for all you do, sharing your knowledge and helping vets. I have your dovetail saw and sharpening kit, have learned how to cut beautiful dovetails, and keep learning from you. So respectfully, I’m not a fan of the animated intro. My background is 45 years in the advertising industry, and for me it just doesn’t fit with someone who produces such high quality work. Not trying to be negative, just offering a perspective. I’m sure that you and your team have thought this through. On the other hand, I’ve been watching the hair progression over the last year, and it’s looking pretty awesome!
You will find a lifetime of enjoyment from woodworking and this things you make will last you a lifetime if you put your heart into your work! Welcome to the club.
I'm relatively new to this channel/woodworking and have watched hours and hours of his past videos. This one took me by surprise because I always saw him with the same hair. Nothing negative, just a surprise. I love his method of teaching without the quirky personalities like some of the other 'professional woodworkers'. This guy goes to the next level. Liked and subscribed!
Hey Rob. Just found your channel and I wanted to say where have you been all my life? Your channel always asks and answers the right questions and I always come out smarter in the craft than before. I wanted to say never stop posting your high quality videos.
Afghanistan Army vet 2012-2013:one of the deadliest years. Came accross alot of canadians Ausies, and south koreasns while deployed.. love the apron with all the army patches. Rangers lead the way! Im hoping i can have my own wood working business. Just built my own style bench and own moxxon but i may buy the handles if those are available..
I built mine before the Cosmanized version was available but added the springs, bushings, and crank handles along the way. Having all the upgrades in a kit is worth the money.
I'd like to make the knobs in the wheels quick release, that one could remove them, slide on a tie rod (read: a long thin mending plate), then replace the knobs... then, at the center of the tie rod, bore out a hole, slot in a stand-off, and add a third knob, so one could actuate both wheels with one handle (think like train wheels). The quick release on the knobs makes it a minimal hassle to remove the tie rod for asymmetric clamping.
Nice build. I made my back piece wider and use my hold fasts. I also pinch the moxon vice with the wagon vice to add additional hold. This way I eliminate the f clamps on the front of the work bench. I don't have a lip on my bench as you do. (well actually I do but it is a full 8" thick.)
I've been wanting to build a Moxon vise for a long time, but just haven't done it. That's a great looking kit you've put together, so I guess I've procrastinated enough...ordering mine now~! Thanks Rob~!
They are smart improvements to your moxon kit. It really sets it apart from many of the other choices out there. Q. Why do you lock the threaded bar in the rear vice jaw rather than locking it in the turn handles. Locking it in the handles means the thread can't protrude when the vice is locked up on a piece. ???
I like the upgrades to the kit. Respect for what you do and I appreciate the value you're adding to your products. Big upgrade from your moxon vise review video.
that's a great looking kit, Rob, and I like that it's portable so you could take it to a jobsite if you needed to. $220 seems like a big chunk of change but not when you consider the quality and heftiness of the parts and that it will provide several lifetimes worth of use. I think it was you who I first saw put a moxon vise on the end of a table saw and thought it was such a neat idea.
Wow this kit is amazing pretty cool and useful...I would like to share how my father did a "hinge vise" so he used only one screw (scafolding leveling screw) with a wooden wheel...one fixed jaw like yours but the front jaw was attached using a heavy duty gate hinge at left side and only one screw at right...to compensate the diferent thickness he taperated the front jaw (the gap was big at left) and used at left, center and right for his normal wood thickness job...it worked for him until he passed way (almost 40 years with that vise)...no kits in Brazil in 1974 Congratulations from Brazil
Just finishing my moxon vise and I love it. Sadly not using this awesome looking kit. Distance and price doesn't work for me. But I love how you have it setup with the springs and the handles on the wheels. Quality stuff..
When I see what can be accomplished by woodworkers on RUclips that have the talent of a Rob Cosman but few less tools to work with and still produce the same quality. There is definitely a need in this hobby for sites like Rob’s to serve those that can afford high quality tools and collect one of almost everything even when they don’t have the level of talent that Rob has developed over time. I remember meeting Rob back years ago when he travelled the wood show circuit in my area and even purchased a beautiful dove tail saw from him. I admire him for moving South and developing a line of his own. My moto is buy only what you need, when you need it and within your budget. I am old enough to remember the tv show “The New Yankee Workshop”. It made a ton of money for tool manufacturers because of Norm.🇨🇦👍👨🦳
Why do you only add the cork/rubber to one side of the vice rather than both sides? Does it matter which side of only used on one side? Might both sides work better?
Wow Rob that is good I'm in the process of making a moxon vice and your tuition will work wonderful. I'm using construction grade timber. Thanks for the video by the way I really like your apron 👏👍👌❤
I just watched this video on your upgrade moxon vise. I'm not an avide woodworker. I just dabble from time to time. All the evideos I've watched on moxon vises are made to be clamped to the table. Can they be made to attach directly to the bench?
Will you guys be selling those bushings if we already have a kit?I’ve got the benchcrafted kit and can totally see the value in the bushings. Great idea 🍻
If they don't sell them then you could easily make two bushings from brass tube you can find at any reputable metal supplier. Clamped properly in a miter saw you can make two cuts off one end. And no, the brass wont hurt a good carbide tipped blade for just a couple of cuts. Make sure to use some wax on your blade to make the cut smoother and go slow through the cut. Hope this helps you!
Rub there been many maximum vices like yours shown in the past what is new about this? Just trying to understand this is a nice place and you did nice video on it love you search RUclips you see many videos on this?🤔🤔🤔
Is there any chance I can buy one how do I go about it doing exactly the same as your doing please will uget bk to me iv sent a thew messages now no reply 😢😢😢
Shouldn’t the bevel on the front chop be equal to, or less than the angle your saw is at when cutting the sockets for half blinds. I think 30 is too much
It should be at whatever angle you like to prevent you from sawing into your Moxon vide. If the only thing you saw at the vise is half-blind dovetails then make the angle for that
I like the idea of a Moxom Vise but this package is overkill. A simple kit like the one demonstrated on another site (3 x3 Custom Tamar) shows how simple and inexpensive the vise can be built for around $60 USD. Not sure why all the chrome and extra parts are required, it’s just a vise, not a piece of furniture. Good to see that you are using a quality set of Canadian IBC made bench chisels. Expensive but for those wanting the best and have deep pockets. The market in the U.S. must be a profitable one.🇨🇦👍👨🦳 p.s: I still have the Lie Neilson dovetail saw with the custom handle and love it.

So what’s the clearance on the bushings. They seem pretty snug Not really leaving any play for non parallel wood parts

I really enjoyed Jeffery Lebowski showing us this version of the moxon vice ;)
I built mine before the Cosmanized version was available but added the springs, bushings, and crank handles along the way. Having all the upgrades in a kit is worth the money.
We thinks so too!

I added the springs when you showed them a while back. Big improvement.
Thanks for all you do.

Surely the next video is retrofitting a moon/twin screw vice to your Cosman Bench!
I've been wanting to build a Moxon vise for a long time, but just haven't done it. That's a great looking kit you've put together, so I guess I've procrastinated enough...ordering mine now~!

Outstanding! I enjoyed this video presentation very much! Thank you so much. Semper Fidélis
love the video
Just wish the handwheels were black.....match the handles on everything everything else on the shop.

Why do you lock the threaded bar in the rear vice jaw rather than locking it in the turn handles. Locking it in the handles means the thread can't protrude when the vice is locked up on a piece. ???
There wouldn’t be a good way to lock it to the front jaw, while allowing it to thread easily in and out of the nuts on the rear jaw.
I like the upgrades to the kit. Respect for what you do and I appreciate the value you're adding to your products. Big upgrade from your moxon vise review video.

Actually I got that idea from a viewer who sent it in

great story.....do you still have his vise?
Love the new intro! I am going to order my moxon kit and can’t wait to make it!
I think you will really like it
Just finishing my moxon vise and I love it. Sadly not using this awesome looking kit. Distance and price doesn't work for me. But I love how you have it setup with the springs and the handles on the wheels. Quality stuff..

I do like the moxon vise. Pretty cool change. Thanks for the video
I just built a moxon vise over the weekend. Might have to make some adjustments to it.
Sorry we didn’t get this out sooner
I already bought it based on your last video. Is there any way to get the upgraded pieces? I have not built it yet.
Nice tribute to David Charlesworth with the wig you're rockin'.👍
Look at this young man's flow! Looking good Rob😁
You should keep your beard as long as your stache though🫡
Great hardware for the moxon vice. Thanks for sharing! Take care.
howdy Kent
6:58 does the side get in the way when you do a half-blind? Would 45 degrees make it better?
Why do you only add the cork/rubber to one side of the vice rather than both sides? Does it matter which side of only used on one side? Might both sides work better?

Rob, I bought the original Moxon hardware kit that doesn't include the upgraded items. What size bushings are those? Springs? TIA, Mark
I made your previous kit. I used leather on both sides of the jaws. Any chance you will have just the upgrade (oil bearing and cork)?
yes, they are on the site now
Why the full length bevel across the top of the front jaw?
The “haircut” comment at the end was perfect.
Waiting on availability.
Thanks for sharing those tips and the make!
you bet
I need to buy one of those for sure!! Can’t wait to build mine!! Thanks again for all the videos you make!
thanks for watching
Do you sell the bushing and cork separately. Love your videos by the way

Fun project. Thanks for sharing
thanks for watching

What's the length of this vice?
As always, a great idea !
Any change you'll sell just the bushings? I got the old kit and want to upgrade.
All of the additional components are available separately.
robcosman.com/collections/workbench-accessories
Great job, and great vice
thanks
... and maybe a haircut. 🎉 Love it.
Never!!!!!!
Darn it. Just ordered a couple things from your website, and forgot the springs and bushing for my moxon vise. Next time.
Hi Rob great video Do you think laminating two or more pieces would work to get the proper thickness of the vice parts?
absolutely
JUst wanted to say I love tha animated new intro very cool..
Thanks for the feedback
I guess I better save my dough!! I could use one of these for my Moravian workbench...
I ordered a RC Moxon Vice last fall. Haven't put it together yet. Am I able to buy just the upgraded parts?
Yes
Looks good!
a fun build
any reason you wouldn't put cork on both sides?
You would have to buy more cork?? Not needed???
Love the new intro! I like the improvements to the kit.
Cool.
Gday from Northern indiana
How long have you been doing woodworking ??
Sinec I was 10 years old
In VT his answer would be “All my life till now”.
Nice presentation. Also like seeing the Canadian flag on your apron………
Go Bruins!!!
The hat is backwards in one of the intro animated shots FYI Rob
yes it is
I ws looking for beatings to do that!
1.2s into the video: HOLY SMOKES! HAIR!
13s in: HOLY SMOKES! NEW INTRO!
A lot of smoke there!!!!
I don't care what anyone says I absolutely love the hair Mr Cosman
Me too
Did you say "...get a hair cut."? LOL!
Is there any chance I can buy one how do I go about it doing exactly the same as your doing please will uget bk to me iv sent a thew messages now no reply 😢😢😢
How much is your Moxon vise hardware kit?
$164.95 (USD)

Is Rob a Boston Bruins fan 😅
Was growing up. Bobby Orr, legend!
Is that Rob or Fabio ?
Fabio
New intro video from Fiverr
???????😢😢😢
I'm jealous my hair is so much greyer and thinner😂
Its actually a wig !!!!!!
Срочно надо подстричь волосы на голове !!!
Really Rob?? You need to lose the gimmicky animation and get back to real stuffs. Its Vets, not housewives that watch your channel.😊
So far the OVERWHELMING response to the new shorter intro has been positive
