GLIMPSES OF RAY

To celebrate the Ray Eames Centennial in 2012, we referred to the EAMES ORAL HISTORY archives and chose to feature some stories by Ben Baldwin, fellow student with Ray in Hans Hofmann's classes (as well as classes at Cranbrook), and Etsu Garfias, a former Eames Office staff member (and she is at the picnic in the POWERS OF TEN film).

She was awesome, a standout in an era that expected women to stay at home in the kitchen, dumb as a rock. Ray was very domestic, they showed the world that women can be smart and feminine.
