- Jeremy and Melissa of Good Simple Living are building a home in the mountains of North Idaho for their homeschooling, homesteading family of 6.
This summer the wildfires have forced them to change their home build plans, and search for a better worry-free solution to traditional wood log construction.

@@EverLogs I seen a video of you installing the siding it looks great on your home and pretty straight forward not hard to install on your wonderful house, I love watching your progress with your family and homestead, our kids was young when we built in the country, and seen it from nothing to a wonderful small farm and lots of evergreens we planted together on one side, woods on the other, and a pond we dug, and stocked for fishing, they n your kids also will remember this all there life, and surely inspire them to follow their dreams like mine has. This product will look absolutely beautiful on your home. I never knew they could make non-wood siding look so real. Concrete? Unbelievable! This is the answer to saving your home from a forest fire. Loved it. What a great idea guys. The fact that you are thinking of safety you also looking at the impact on nature by choosing not to use real wood. Love your project and I wish they would have something like that here in the UK but they don't . They have something but not even close as beautiful as your Siding. Thank you.

What do you do about the extremely noticeable butt joints on longer runs? I see the GSL folks were kinda hiding that in the frame after their first wall section install. How are they weather sealed, and/or aesthetically blended in? I assume the material is similar to concrete overlays? Are you using a pure acrylic sealer, or?
16" on center install? How long are the fasteners/screws?

I wish I had that siding instead of real logs
We’re building in CO using the EverLog Board & Batten style and we absolutely love it. BUT: we just found out that EverLog doesn’t make door and window trim pieces anymore, so now we are in a real bind. Using HardiePlank or something similar won’t work because of color choice restrictions. We don’t want real wood that we need to maintain over the years, either. If anyone has any solutions (or if we have been given bad info), please reply!
