  • Often described as being like a rollercoaster, this super-fast lift climbs steeply up one side of the Ouillette peak, reaching a height of more than 2,800m. It then whizzes down the other side - an extremely steep ridge - in stomach-churning fashion, providing access to the snowsure Pissaillas glacier.
The ski resort Tignes Val d'Isère is located in the Tarentaise (France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Savoie Mont Blanc, Savoie, Albertville). For skiing and snowboarding, there are 300 km of slopes and 20 km of ski routes available. 82 lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between elevations of 1,550 and 3,456 m.
Tignes and Val d'Isère are connected by lifts and slopes to form one of the largest ski resorts in France. The winter sports resort was previously called Espace Killy. It is located on the upper end of the Isère Valley. The ski resort and its slopes are partially located on glaciers. The Grande Motte Glacier in Tignes also attracts skiers in the summer.
The winter sports resort at the foot of the Pointe du Montet (3,428 m) and the Grande Motte (3,656 m) offers slopes of all difficulty levels for skiing and snowboarding. It is also considered a paradise for freeriding. The men's skiing competition for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics was held in Val d’Isère. The ski resort also regularly hosts World Cup races.

40 years ago it was a double chair and my 2 kids were ahead of me talking intently as the chair approached the summit of the ridge. They flipped up the safety bar ready to glide off when they suddenly realized they weren't supposed to exit. They threw themselves back in the chair and hung on scared in silence. I hadn't realized that this was an up and then down ride and wondered what I would have done if they hadn't stayed aboard. Can't remember if there was a warning sign, but it sure was scary.

Yea, people tend to flip up the safety bar too early.

The first time, I rode on this chairlift, I had to close my eyes when it went over the top. Thanks for your videos of this beautiful ski resort. Let's all hope, that Corona is over soon and we can go skiing in France again.

Nice video, have you ever taken the Rosael Chairlift from Orelle to Val Thorens downhill? I had to go down when they closed the slopes due to 50cm of snow in 2 days. It's almost 46 degree and crosses a high mountain ridge. And you had to hold your skis and poles in your hands for added challenge.
