Located in the Rhône-Alpes region of south-eastern France in the Tarentaise Valley sits Tignes's wonderful ski resort. Tignes shared with Val d’isere what used to be called the Espace Killy ski area, and today’s called Tignes-Val d’Isere ski area officially. Here you will find a natural arch, two lakes, 300 km of continuous ski runs, and lots of freeride terrain. The modern 29 lifts move visitors from 1500m to the highest point at 3656m. With Val Claret, Le Lac, Le Lavachet, Les Boisses and Les Brevieres, you have fives villages in Tignes. Containing unrivalled off-piste, two terrain parks and plenty of blues, reds and blacks, Tignes is suitable for all.
This video will show you the most important things you need to know before heading to Tignes. We will share excellent tips to help you make better decisions, save time and money, and have an enjoyable Holiday in Tignes.
Villages Overview
In the upper valley there is Val Claret, Tignes Le Lac and Le Lavachet. Lower down are the smaller, and quieter, villages, Les Boisses & Les Brevieres.
Tignes Les Brevieres is based at 1500m. This area is connected with the 8-person Breviere gondola, which runs Mondays to Saturdays until 8 pm and Sundays until 5 pm to Les Boisses. Les Boisses, at 1800m, is the newest village - opening in 2013. These two villages are quieter and more suited for families. Both are located on the west side of the ski area. They are generally more quiet, with fewer services and less nightlife; however, both offer affordable & more traditional options than staying in the two main upper resort villages. Tignes 1800 is connected to Tignes le Lac with a free shuttle every day until after midnight. The valley from 1800 to 1500 is north-faced and has on show the most beautiful runs in the whole ski area - some say in France.s
Then there is Tignes 2100. Tignes Lavachet is separate from Le Lac only by the Lacachet and Petit Col runs and the Paquis and Chaudonnes chairlift. It is quieter and cheaper than Tignes le Lac and has the highest concentration of hotels in Tignes. Most are hillside, and only a short ski/board or stroll to the lifts, which will take you up, up & away!
Tignes le Lac is the heart of Tignes. In a picturesque setting, Le Lac is at the shore of a frozen lake connected to both sides of the Tignes natural stadium. Le Lac and Le Lavachet are connected almost 24 hours by free shuttle.
Tignes Val Claret (2150m) is the most connected village to all areas and has the best nightlife. Its location is adjacent to lifts facing in all directions providing fantastic first lift and fresh track possibilities. But with all that convenience comes a price - in contrast, to lower down the valley.

Ski Area
The map simply does not give justice to the vastness, complexity & quality of the terrain available. Your heart will be thumping all the way up the gondola from the bottom of the resort at Les Brevieres to the cable car at the top of the Grande Motte - a vertical drop of a lazy 1,906m.
The Grande Motte, one of the two glaciers, is above Tignes Val Claret, alongside Val d'Isere; the area is now called the Tignes-Val D'Isere ski area - previously, it was called the Espace Killy ski area.
Tignes' combined ski network with Val D’Isere features 300km of runs linked by 78 lifts plus over 10,000ha of diverse riding terrain. Easy runs consist of 170km (57%), intermediate runs make up 78km, and 52km of advanced terrain. 82 lifts connect all runs with the resort. Many of the easy runs are in fact combining well with the numerous long, cruisy intermediate runs.
The snowiest week in Tignes is week 1 of March. There are typically 4.2 snowy days during this week with 53 cm of snowfall.
A testament to the quality of the snow & terrain at Tignes is that it has the longest ski season in France. 6 lifts create access to 12km of piste on the 700m vertical on the Grande Motte glacier from late June to early August. Then, opening again from mid-October through to the end of November, the glacier provides quality autumn riding until the whole resort opens for winter through to May.
Adult prices range from €51 (half a day pass) to €378 (6-day pass). The Tignes ski pass comprises 300km of ski runs. children's and seniors range from €41 (half-day pass) to €318 (6-day pass). In Tignes, there are six free beginner lifts.
As a seasonal worker there, that pros and cons summary at the end is spot on
3 times in Val Claret, and Tignes/Val Dísere is our favourite region to ski.
Wife and kids love the slopes, and I love the free-riding choices......massive and beautiful
A stunning looking resort. The shots of Boisses with the lake in the background...
Good review. Biggest surprise: the lateness of that snowiest day.
Thanks for the review and good luck!
This is a proper review. Was going to head back to VT but this has me tempted.
If youve done vt but never tignes, do it. Or val d next door. With val d you can ski back from the folie without having to leave early for the last lift to tignes
My favourite resort!
I loved it here. It was so beautiful! While I was staying there, on the green run bolin, they built 2 new tunnels but they had a jump at the start and I go whip lash 😭😭😭
It’s extremely expensive there for me but I managed to pay it off.
Gorgeous ski area, awesome review
Thanks so much, JBP,
we agree with both of your observations😉
if you liked this video, it would really support us
if you'll subscribe for free to our channel

Bravo!
I've been there twice and it's lovely. I will hopefully get back there one day soon.
You should! really one of the best
Great review was expecting you to talk about the best restaurants too
Next time!
Im here rn
Great video, we fly next week and are staying in Le Brevieres and now know how the resort is laid out. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! have fun!
Going to Val Claret for the first time in Jan, looking forward to it!
How was you holiday? is the Cocorico apres ski in Val Claret good?
@@SkiResortsVideo It was good, weather was perfect and the snow was very good! To be honest we didn't sample much apres ski as we were all too old and tired, that said I recommend NOT staying in any accommodation on the Grande Motte road - it was noisy til the early hours with drunk people meaning I got little sleep. Not impressed!
Good review. Do one with Vialattea? Sauze d'oulx/Sestriere
we do. in oct-Dec we will upload 2 different reviews on both resorts!
do a review of livigno in italy 😀
gr8 review btw (y)
We are doing a review of Livigno/ it will be uploaded on November
Could you do a « best runs » review/analysis for Les Arcs as well?
I watched the video but I feel like it’s missing the runs to not miss!
we would have to go back to do so and it won't happened soon, I appreciate the request. from 2022 we try to do the recommended runs section on all of the reviews. you can check ski resort info website
You've already done Val Thorens and Courchevel, but could you do les 3 vallées as a whole?
you gave us an idea! we will be there this month for Meribel shooting, so we will plan the shootings, with that in mind
@@SkiResortsVideo thank you!!
Are you guys going to do Verbier this year?
Yes we do, the review will be uploaded only on Oct-Dec
Great insight into all that Teenyah has to offer - Where do I park my 9m Motorhome when I drive to Teenyah in a few weeks time ? ;)
I am not sure, there is a big parking lot next to Val Claret and i saw some Motorhome in a parking lot next to Les Boisses, but i don't remember a designated one. maybe in Val d'Isere?
He could've said Tigg-ness 😅🫣
Can you review monterosa please cause I’m going there soon
we will, film there at the end of this month! but the review will be ready too late for you sadly. but have fun there!
Do nassfeld please
Avant Garde only club ? What about the "La Blue Girl"... And there are so many slopes missing that are far more interesting that the ones displayed, especially the ones that allows connection with Val d'Isere....
you are right regarding La Blue girl. I guess it was close when we filmed. regarding the slopes we show only the more recommended. we also show slopes in our Val D'Isere review
Pls can you Review Les Deux Alpes and Flims-Laax-Falera
hopefully, we'll upload both Flims-Laax_Falera and Deux Alpes this coming winter. The latter will be uploaded for sure. I lost my Insta 360 in my last days of filming there with the footage, so I might need to come back there
5:01 what app is this to get a 3D view of the slopes???

Hi! I'm going to France in June this year. Could you please tell me will the Tignes be open at that time? I am a beginner. Is this snow resort suitable for me? Thanks!
June is perfect time for mountainbike ;) i spend one year of my live there, but was covid time. Its incrdublle beauty , belive me.
i recommend you to begin ski in the winter. even if slopes will be open it is only on the glacier and it will be very hard for you because of the low oxygen levels in these altitudes( above 3km)
Would like a review of valmeiner
We will consider that for the future
Nice video. Just a comment: Cocorico is in Tignes Val Claret. not in Val Diesere
Have fun
The Cocorico is in Val D'isere( the one you see in the review) but it is good to know they opened one in Val Claret, It is brand new
There’s one if Val d’Isere AND Val Claret 😊
Thanks for the info! the Original, the one we shows on the video is in Val d'Isere. I guess the one in Val Claret just opened this winter
Can you review Livigno?
we are . we will upload it only on October - December
Please do a Les Deux Alpes Review!
Its a very ok resort, i enjoyed it but theres only one run
we do. It will be uploaded on Oct-Dec.
@@djscottdog1 what do you mean only one run?
הלוואי והייתי שם
Update some older reviews from 2018-19-20 to 2024 info. Also make the older videos longer in the process.
Also review saas fee switzerland
Hi Lorenzo, Saas Fee review will be uploaded for the coming winter. regarding the older reviews, did you find info there that is not relevant any more? I have to make reviews for another 40-50 ski resorts before i will make new full reviews for the old ones. Thanks for the advice!
No mention of Cocorico though!
we showed the Cocorico in Val d'Isere. we read here that they opened one in Tignes which is a great news. is it good as the original?
the best resort in France.
Do you think val d is better or tignes?
Been to all, i think three valley better
@@terencetcf nah tignes and val d have better glaciers and apres. They are on a par. Orelle behind val t is amazing
@@Hello_there_obi just visited both for two weeks. They are different but equally good. You can easily ski to both places. People are nice, food is great, and ambience tees francais.
I mean both Val and Tignes are good.Val does have slightly better snow.
Average cost for a decent lunchtime meal is super expensive. As a couple we are spending around 80-100 euros for lunch. The ski pass is also now €396, significantly more expensive than Saalbach-Hinterglemm which we rate higher than Tignes. Everything is significantly cheaper Austria. Will not come to this resort again….
Austria is great, but for those of us who can only ski at Easter, there are very few choices for reliable snow.
Drink a shot every time he says Tignes... it's good fun 🥴
LOL, Be carful on your liver!
Hallo..I'm windi oktavia from shandhika widya cinema the keajaiban dunia program Net TV. Want to ask for this account video and permission to play the net TV kejaiaban dunia program, and then we'll include a source/credit title with this account name, thank you

been there and I can tell you that the off piste is nothing to brag about, neither is the difficulty.... then again I been skiing in Alaska for over 30 years.......
Can u Review Morzine ⛷️
Why there's no snow there its a mountain bike resort right now🤭🤣🤣
@@utd927 haha I see that , maybe wait a couple of weeks 😂
@@markcarnegie531 haha🤣 I think alot of the alps are getting some snow in a few days
Overrated imo. Still bloody good though.
we will. it will be uploaded on Oct- Dec.
