BOB CRUSHED IT !!!! Bob is new to tig! Its ok to be a beginner. In fact its great! You will just get better.
Paul is really comfortable. This is great. Have Paul teaching folks. He isnt worries about the camera. He is focused on teaching Bob and having fun. I bet Paul has taught a lot of code welders how to do the things. Just record Paul teaching somone he can joke around with, and it will be great!

@Bob(FrankenFab) You did pretty good for your first time. As they always say -- "practice makes perfect " and "Roman wasn't built in a day".
I am sure that camera makes it awkward to handle that torch as well. Would be like trying to weld with a bowling ball chained to your wrist.

I've tried vertical down on thin sheet metal and works fine, much more stable arc/puddle than mig or stick process and more controlable.

This vid is ok I’d get rid of twisting the rod it’s not necessary and is confusing bob. Everyone has little things that are diff but I’d check out Jodi from welding tips and trick his advice, vid’s and lots and lots of practice has gotten me a lot of certs and $ tig welding I’d so much fun once you get over dipping tungsten it’s an art form and a ton of fun. Wait till you start doing 8” stainless pipe or inconel it’s so fun it’s not even work good luck in your welding journey don’t be afraid to practice straight beads till you run out of wire and keep doing it. All about practice

    Thank you.
I know you felt nervous about this but it’s perfect for newbees to learn from.
I’ve flux core mig welded for a few years .. without gas …. mainly because I bought a strait argon tank by mistake and never bothered to change it but this week I was going to buy some c25 -- $378…..
Cheaper to buy yeswelder inverter DC tig and use the argon so … it’s in the mail.
This is the only way for me at the moment to move into tig and stick so it is what it is…
My mig is too strong even on 110 for my truck bed with rust above both wheel wells ..
I did the left side and it is actually pretty dang solid but still has a couple of micro pin holes.
Time to clean that up and move to the right. I could and may use body filler but that’s cheating….
I enjoyed the challenge which is vertical 22ga metal rusted in an upside down 3” wide banana but I’m stubborn and patient so it will get done.
I could braze it but where’s the challenge in that?
    Keep up the good work

Loved the video man, keep up the good work. Can I use 6011 for open root work? My inverter can't run 6010 and 6010 rated machines here cost 4grand at least. But I want to practice open root groove welds but I can't use 6010 so can I use 6011

Are there thinner gloves you can use for TIG? I feel like he needed more dexterity in the hand feeding the wire. I think this would be especially true for beginners. Then once you have the technique down the loss of dexterity caused by the thick glove becomes less of an issue. No?

When you twist the filler wire is the motion like a windshield wiper changing direction or a continuous circle always in the same direction (CW or CCW)?? Very helpful video!!!

Why would you not use high frequency if you have it? That makes no sense to have it on lift tig.
Is anyone on this channel actually a qualified welder. Seems to me like a bunch of hobbyists.

    • @jeepwk6.5L
      @jeepwk6.5L Год назад +3

You sound like the hobbyists with that statement. “Qualified welder” would know in the test packet they don’t allow pulse or high frequency. In most cases the test are taken without a foot pedal. Lift arc is typically ALL your going to get in the field…. Shop cat.
