Wrapping up your series here. Absolutely fantastic and goes to prove what you can do with a "small" bike, without all the comfort and ammenities and cupholders etc. People need to remember that here in the West these bikes are "beginner bikes," but they're aspirational bikes for people in India and other less developed parts of the world. This is a bike someone would buy and own for decades in the third world and use it for everything a bike can be used for. We should be fortunate for the abundance of wealth and options we have here!
Thanks Jared and true words about these bikes being cherished and long term daily transport for people, I think that is what makes Royal Enfield such a great company as they have survived as a brand as they are real world bikes ridden daily by real world people and not just weekend toys as most are in the Western world, Just home from 700 miles round trip to Isle of Skye so be the next mini series starting this weekend! 👍😁
Absolutely fantastic - I did the same route two years ago on my Tiger and your videos brought every turn and landmark flooding back. An amazing experience that every motorcyclist needs to do (twice). Thoroughly enjoyed watching your adventure - thank you so much.
Went back to Scotland the other week, friend got married in Stirling. And it reminded me how much I just love the land, the people. And this reminds me of all I didn’t get to see over five years as a properly skint student. So I’ve decided to tour Scotland when the boys are big enough for me to piss of for two weeks, live back home in Sweden the now. I just hope I get the weather you got!
I am just home from a spin on my classic 500 and see this video. I love this channel. I have had dozens of bikes, harleys, jap cruisers and my Enfield is the most comfortable bike I have ever owned and I am a tall guy at 6'3".
How can such a new retail priced bike be so good value for money! I have massive respect and admiration for this bike after riding so far in 3 days and not sore at all! Amazing! 😁👍👍👍 Cheers Bruce
Glad all went well with ya ride. I think i agree with you, that starting off in the east and end in the west. Thanks so much for sharing all 3 parts of the NC500. Stay safe Cheers Phil
Thanks Phil, it was an epic trip!, doing those miles on 3 days but proved a few things; I’m not done yet!, Tge Classic 350 is mot than capable of touring here in Scotland, and the Scottish scenery is stunning! 😁👍👍 cheers Bruce
Amazing! I did the NC500 as part of the LeJoG route in 2018 Nathan’s Mailwards “Garbage Run” and it appears we stopped in the same places you did even for tea and cakes! Great memory jogger and you filled some of the history I missed. Well done, a reall good 3 volume NC500 route. Worth a watch and fantastic to ride!
Hi Graham, That’s great my film brought back memories for you of your trip ! 😁👍 I really like Nathan’s channel, top bloke who proved mid to smaller bikes can be more fun in the right places! 😁👍 Cheers Bruce
Interesting to hear how a bike costing a fraction of more expensive bike’s was more comfortable, have to say can’t understand why manufacturers don’t ensure this a a must as it’s first thing everyone seems to upgrade
Thanks for sharing these 3 episodes, I have learned more about what I have seen on my trips around the NC500, it's been an education. ps like your style!
Three vids that were terrific!! The NC500 by motorcycle is on my bucket list. Thank you so much for sharing your wee expedition. You showed all the wee extra details that I would do myself. Got to agree with you about the West Coast being more rugged in its scenery. Just what the doctor ordered. Thanks again for a great job well done.
Always amazes me when you get down to Cromarty and Nig Bay and see big oil or gas rigs just sitting there, not something I see every day, great series Bruce, and not a Trip Machine bolt on bag to be seen😂, Atb Chris
We cycled around Cromarty last year and it was quiet and in it own industrial way charming, bit to mention the North and South Souta Naval gun defences we explored and were underground in the gun magazine stores 😁👍 returning around on the 350 soon, along with the Moray coast which is also stunning! Cheers Bruce
Hi Bruce, thanks for posting these 3 vids on the NC500. Very helpful incite to the route, which I am planning to do in June 24. Thinking of going around anti-clockwise, but have quite a trek up from Wareham in Dorset to get to the start. Keep up the good work with the channel, all the best..
Well done on the series it was brilliant. I love how the wee bike performed, once again, it shows that here in the UK, we're obsessed with bikes with big displacements. In Europe, most bikes are around 400cc
I can almost see the big grin on your face as you’re taking them bends. I must admit you’ve done a fantastic run on your little classic that some people think you can only do on a 1000cc an upwards. More power to you my friend💪. SS😎
Thanks and after 920ish miles in 3 days I felt brilliant and the Classic 350 I have since washed and tidied up a bit as found a new respect for this ace motorbike! 👍😁❤️ Cheers Bruce
Glad you enjoyed them Mike, I have an even bigger admiration for my 350 now as it preformed faultlessly, I’ve even washed it twice and spruced it up a bit 😁👍👍 Cheers Bruce
3 cracking vlogs Bruce, I first did this route in August 2002, sounds like the classic 350 never missed a beat, will try the route on my Himalayan in the future.
My partner is up in her new van this week and was at Durness and the pics look stunning, check out her RUclips channel; Glenda and the Pink War Rig 😁👍 Summer has finally properly arrived! 😎👍 Cheers Bruce
I think you done yourself a disservice by going over the Kessock Bridge, rather than through Beauly, following the route to Inverness and Strathcarron. I loved the sound track of your RE.... and there's a Chippie in Fort Aggie, every day is a school day.
What a great series Bruce, some of those roads around the coast can be a little steep, and the traffic can be awful at times. Loved seeing you run through Fort Augustus, one of my favorite places. They do braw ice cream there 🙂
Dito to other commenter just back in after localish 350 run and looks like same weather as today yu had 😂....my first bikes where xl250s xl250r xr250r and first new bike in 2007nwas 650 transalp....but i prefer new version of my vstrom as to new transalp...purely my choice ...anywaz that was cracking trip....
Those are nice trail bikes you have owned!, almost cult status in the trail world 😁👍 yeah the weather while dry has not been the scorchio weather it should have been, it it was like that I would have parked up at Ullapool 2 nights and then again at Durness 😎👍 Cheers Bruce
I still prefer to do the route clockwise, but I leave out a lot of the top section, especially John O’Groats and turn around Bettyhill, either coming back down through Strathnaver, Lairg and Bonar Bridge or via Forsinard and Helmsdale. Much more preferable to me than the A9.
Hi Tim, having done the full route just to have it on film for folks to watch I too will be changing the route next visit and turn off at Bettyhill 👍 Thanks for your comments 👍 Cheers Bruce
Hey, Im putting together a video about speed/power on small displacement bikes... do you mind if I use about 30 seconds of your footage (roughly from 3:00 to 3:30) to show along side my footage of hills on a Himalayan, a Meteor 350 and a Super Cub? I'll give you full credit of course. Im trying address the question of "How fast does it go?" being the wrong question to be asking since the answer is "well, that depends."
Fabulous trilogy. I do have a question as the east coast has a different scenic perspective. Have you ridden up and down the west coast on one journey? See the route from both sides?
I have rode the west side years back and that’s exactly what I would do if up again, only go as east as Bettyhill on the north coast then cut down to Lairg then west 👍😁
If I were ever asked what way is best for the NC500 I would always say; Up the west coast, along the north coast to Duncansby Stacks Back to Thurso for any necessary shopping Then back along the north coast and back down the west coast to see things from the opposite direction. If you are coming from afar then remember the Trossachs, Glen Coe and Cairngorms. I am not surprised the roads near Inverness are so good as Highland Council are biased in favour of their own door step rather than the rest of their massive region... 🤬
That’s a good route you suggest Carl 👍😁 I also love the Moray coast haven driven, ridden, and cycled it offroad and it full of history! 👍 I need to go explore the inland north/south roads from the north coast also, have done tounge to Lairg which is ace! 👍 Cheers Bruce
Great video. You mentioned that camp sites weren’t clearly marked on the roadside, can wild camp on this route if your were in a pinch? Still legal to in Scotland right?
Hi I repainted my bike my own Army theme with Royal Tank Regiment markings, This bike was the Halcyon Grey when new - at the time the signals models were not being imported into the U.K. so I did one myself 👍😁 Cheers Bruce
Hi Alain, on the first day I rode 434 miles, second day about 180 miles and 3rd day nearly 250, only the 3rd day the last 100 miles I started feeling a bit sore however 10 minutes parked up I soon felt ok to continue 😁👍 Cheers Bruce
