Saw weather report in early to mid August in 1973 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Heard about Weather Report concert in very August in Grand Rapids, Michigan when the concert was announced at a Mahavishnu Orchestra concert. Weather Report was awesome and that was the best of the 4 times that I saw them in concert in 70s and 80s in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Minneapolis twice. CR was with Jaco Pastorious on bass.
I saw Weather Report at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago (12th row) in 1979 with the Heavy Weather lineup. It was a second show which started at 11:00 pm. I will never forget the powerful rendition of "Nubian Sundance" which started the show. I was fortunate to see The Zawinul Syndicate on the opening night of the 2006 Chicago Jazz Festival that September. They were phenomenal.
Saw WR premiere Sweetnighter @ Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood. '73 - June I think, may have been July. Columbia invited music critics to hear the band play the album. Had no prior knowledge of WR, & little knowledge of jazz (I was 18). Hearing Boogie Woogie Waltz (especially) played live that night set my mind on a new course regarding music. These days, Wayne Shorter tunes are among the favorites in my band's songbook and to think it all started that night at The Whisky. (I play vibraphone).
Always wanted to hear Greg Errico in my fav band! Zawinul always said he was great and maybe they nay release some live material he played on. He didn't do any studio recordings with them. Wonder if he did any originals. more great music!
+HURST KEVIN You waited, hoping for it to happen and got your wish? Or you knew it had happened and couldn't wait for a chance to hear it? The former scenario would've taken a heck of a lot of courage, don't you think?! If so, bravo!
Wow, if your age is correctly stated, you must have been pretty young! Sadly, I never got to see WR in concert, but I did see the Syndicate twice. The last time was with Paco on drums, a mere month before Joe died. It was still an awesome band and everyone played beautifully.

To all viewers: this starts off a bit slowly with some free, atmospheric Don Um sounds. Give it a minute or 4½ if you want a beat.
Don't worry about this men :)
