  • Niccolò Ceria, or Niky, knows that bouldering can connect far beyond our immediate sense of touch during a climb. An undeniably emotive endeavour, bouldering in Finland has drawn Niky Ceria back time and time again since his childhood fascination first formed, attracted by the diverse ascents this unique part of Scandinavia offers climbers.
At 60 degrees north and only a couple of degrees short of Arctic circle bouldering, Niky's passion for climbing in Finland is boundless, attracted by the diverse ascents this Scandinavian superstar of bouldering offers climbers.
In 2014, he visited Aland Island, his first trip to Finland, yet it would take more than three years to organise a trip to the mainland. “I love the lakes, the fiords and the forests. I enjoy sharing time with the local climbers and we had some very pleasant moments during these trips. They also helped me quite a lot with precious information in order to visit the best pieces of rock.”
A fan of how nature's architectural forces have shaped and forged this part of Europe's bouldering catalogue over millennia, Niky visited Finland, or Suomi, on a reconnaissance style trip. The journey saw him arrive with handful of climbing coordinates and leave with a wish list of those he would seek to solve on his return in this documentary.

As a Fin you gotta love the route names 😂 Thank you for a great video! Cant wait to see you explore to different areas within Finland. Ahvenanmaa, Vaasa etc. Huge variation awaits and is not that known outside Finland!

Niky is such a refreshing personality in the otherwise pretty bland climbing media. Thanks for the inspiration!

Sisu project continues to not really be projected or filmed :/ would've been cool to see some footage on it.

Because it's too damn hard! I don't think it really goes. Nalle's blog post about it says he did one single move on it in 4 sessions - that suggests a boulder that does not actually go

And that Nalle update was from 13 years ago! Something like this is a mark for the next generation of bouldering.

Are those NIAD VCS in white or does he get custom shoes? I've seen him wear them in 3 videos and it's not a shoe I've seen available to the public

There's a list of the boulders at the end of the video. Looks like its Listerie 8a+, first climbed by a local legend Tomi Nytorp.

Hey, why are there grades!? @adidas this is a Niky Ceria video. It's supposed not to have grades! It seriously distracts from the beauty and virtouosity of this great video.

The name of the last route translates to "ass crack". The finnish naming convention is pretty distracting too lol.

@@justinmoran5751 I've been myself really hard into climbing and bouldering, so I can relate. Just wanted to say my opinion about it :)
