People have died from the heat waiting for a bus at a bus stop in Greece. In this kind of heat wave locals only go out when it is not the peak heat time period! Going for a hike in 40+ degrees weather is not recommended no matter how fit you are!
A few weeks ago it was that warm I had to take my jumper off, so I can relate to this very well 🫠
Great point and just like to add, he wasn’t that fit. He didn’t like exercise and claimed 3 minutes of High Intensity Exercise a week was equivalent to longer periods of exercise.. which as you can probably tell, is utter tripe.
He said that he wasn’t feeling well so why would he choose such a difficult path !
@@christinasmyth5674 cos he wasnt feelin well?
I just checked website Time and date where you can see past weather. Highest temperatures in Rhodes in the last week have been between 29c and one day of 36c. The media are exaggerating to say the least.
The poor bloke, man. It's horrible to imagine. I really hope he's found soon.
Guy was bipolar and struggling
@@shazanali692where did you get that information
Bipolar, haven't heard that before.
Sadly he’s been found deceased near a remote cave , no one with any sense goes walking in 43 plus degree heat….sadly I think it was a plan for his death .
@@Thisworldisgoingcrazy Stop. It's this type of speculation that is gratuitous and unhelpful
So strange to go towards a very rocky area, surely the footing would have been so difficult when you’re holding an umbrella in one hand, that you’d turn back very quickly. My heart goes out to his family and I hope he will still be found alive
With no mobile phone either
And he's a health expert advising people how to make healthy life choices
@@leebryantravelsindeed .. madness - literally 🙄😯
@@leebryantravels He was also human and who knows what the heat did to him or what happened to him physically to cause his death. He was a human not a perfect machine
@cupcake0480 correct, we are all human but as a health expert in the spotlight , you wouldn't make that walk without a phone or water, that's basic stuff
This is so sad. Why on earth would he go out in this heat. It never ceases to amaze me being Australian how these Brit’s do not seem to understand the danger f exposing one s self to such high temperatures. N a recent trip to Thailand I observed the British and Scandinavian tourists laying ytbn the intense sun all day sun baking. Day after day. All looking like lobsters. Are they not educated the way we are about the danger of sun exposure. You would never catch an Ausie or local out in the midday sun. It’s deadly
Well us Brits are told its dangerous of course. But then we live in Britain; wet, soggy, damp old UK, so we dont fully take it in!! 😂
My Norwegian relatives insisted on walking in 103° Fahrenheit along a tarmaced road in the middle of the day in Australia. We were all watching from a window to make sure they were ok.
When it got hot, my aunt took off her dress and walked along in her flesh coloured underwear! When a car passed, she held the dress up to her shoulders so it draped down her front, mimicking her wearing it!
We had the binoculars out at that stage, we were so amazed... but it seems common in Scandinavia - looking through my old photos of us skiiing in the mountains in summer, she's there in her bras with her shirt tied around her waist!
A small island, but remember how long it took to find Nicola Bulley in a small area.
Good point, sometimes the most obvious thing is the thing least looked at. My dad was a policeman so sort of know a wee bit.
Yeah, they keep repeating "small island", but looking the aerial photos of it, it doesn't seem that small to me.
In fact it's quite extensive when you have to find one bloke and have no idea where he is.
Just read its about 24sq miles, which is a lot more than I thought
@@sarahbarnes942 I live on an island that's 24sq miles, yeah it's small but there's still areas where people could go missing, especially cliffs where the bottom is pretty much inaccessible to humans
Exactly, he could’ve passed out behind a tree or rock and be out of sight. It’s a small island but still big enough to get lost.
I hope with all my heart that somehow this lovely man is found safe and well.
Lovely man? in what way is he lovely?
He’s an enthusiastic educator, one of the few medical doctors passionate about the benefits of diet. There are people I know who have been helped by Michael’s programs.
@@NickBrown22230Go away, some people are actually caring and passionate about what they do!!! You obviously aren't one of them 🤨
If he wasn’t feeling well, why wouldn’t someone have gone with him back to his house
Maybe they proposed to do so and he convinced them he was fine on his own?
He managed to reach the nearest town (and potentially a bus stop), so he should've been perfectly fine!
goodpoint. I thinnk he fell in the sea
Who says he wasn't well?
@@michelles2299his wife apparently
Not feeling well, could be anything....just a headache or a stomach ache. There would have been no need for someone to go with him.
The mayor of Symi has said that troubling questions remain. QUITE - why was Mosley going on this walk if he was feeling below par particularly given the heat. Not the first time I have seen someone using an umbrella in the heat. Have done so myself and seen others doing so.
Maybe he thought the walk would perk him up.
Was he going for a walk or going to his villa? Cctv says he was seen going opposite direction of his villa makes nonsense of these reports.
Why nonsense? He told his wife he was feeling unwell so wanted to go back to their accommodation.
@@Finnfreya1 OPPOSITE direction
They had only arrived the day before, and he was feeling unwell. Maybe he got confused with the direction? Wish he had gone onto that cafe he passed on the cctv, I'm sure they would have let him rest inside.
The man is/was a doctor and knew about heatstroke and dehydration. He carried an umbrella and hat. He had passed places which sold water, brinks, etc. So we can rule out heat and dehydration. He probably fell somewhere.
Heatstroke and dehydration can happen SO quickly, though. I’m in Portugal and all the water in the world won’t help me unless I put some salt in it. On the Greek islands it can also be deceptive because the heat feels fresh and light by comparison to the UK. Medical or not, I wouldn’t rule it out, especially for a Brit who isn’t acclimatised.
Dehydration and heatstroke are massively big issues ... and heatstroke
You've got no idea. He needed a lot water but didn't seem to have it
You can't rule out heat or dehydration in those conditions.
@@ppuh6tfrz646do you think so??
If no one walks that path I would have thought a top tracker dog could follow his scent?!
They were saying that the tracker dogs can only go out for an hour at a time because of the severe heat.
I read that they have had a tracker dog in this area, but the dog can only do short spells of time because of the heat.
Dogs are not robots, their ability to stay under sun in +48C is as limited as humans'. There was a team of dogs since day one of the search.
We have protective boots and clothes. How a dog is supposed to run on that hostile rocky terrain in 47-48c without hurting / burning its paws? As for myself I wouldn't be ready to sacrifice my dog...
Though I have a question here - how his companions let him walk away across very rocky paths, 67 y.o., alone in unbearable heat 52c in unknown surroundings that could be very challenging and confusing... If one doesn't feel well then they all, his wife and friends, should have left together.
@@think-and-check Totally agree and actually less so than humans. Hope he's ok
I hope that Dr Mosley is found very soon for his family's sake and, of course, his own.
I don't understand why he would want to go for a walk in that horrendous heat!
Got to be honest, that scorched landscape isn't my cup of tea
Yes.. their tourism marketing images are very misleading..
Maybe got delerious from dehydration and wandered off, not thinking in the right state of mind with lack of water
Seems a plausible explanation.
That's what I thought also.
he would be easy to spot with thermali imaging, doubt he had no water at 40C he is an intelligent doctor
@@beaulieuc8910 Agree; though how long would a bottle of water last in that heat?
@@sarahbarnes942not very long at all 😔
Prayer for Dr Mosley safety. 🙏 ❤❤ 🇬🇧
It seems as if he knew what he was doing in the darkest of honesty. No phone. No water. "I'm just popping out"....?? .... errrr
That is sadly what a few of us are thinking could be the answer.... but still an odd choice
😢
he is a dr so very weird he had no water in heat. he even had an umbrella to protect himself
@beaulieuc8910 unless he didn't intend to either go far, or to be quick.
he wasnt popping out, this wife was taking water taxi back he said he'd walk for the excersise he is a heath doctor, should have only been 20 minutes, you don't need a phone at the beach like kids do
Possible heatstroke, if he then went to cool off in the sea after not eating or drinking much that day.....
Police are adamant that he did not go into the ocean.
@DJSockmonkeyMusic how can they be adamant though when they can't find him
@BigCronic Possibly because they know where he isn't? I know they've had divers in the sea and found no trace. Still seems a definite possibility to me though.
but he would be easy to spot
Like they were adamant about Nicola Bully not being in the water and that’s where she was later found
As a rule I would not go with this but always remember travelling to Gibralta and having spent 15 mins walking had to go back to the hotel and colapsed on the bed for at least 2 hours so yes this is a massive issue and lets hope he has just done something to survive and will come back to us all a.s.a.p. !
How has he just disappeared?? Something not right they would have found his umbrella or something if their was some sort of accident
Not necessarily.
If he was struggling with sunstroke or even struggling to walk along a rocky area, he may have closed his umbrella
Why oh why did he go out in the hottest time of the day? This is baffling.
Mad dogs and English men ...🎶
He was going home
Yes he was already out and going back to his holiday villa
@@HLB313 Yeah but why take the hardest, longest route possible when he could have carried on and been at main town in 10-15 mins?
Yeah, and especially if he says he wasn’t feeling well.
It's time to face reality. This is now a recovery and nothing more
Well, we don't know. It's looking more and more like that. But you never know. Amazing things do happen. This man knows more about survival than most of us, so although the chances of survival are by the hour becoming vanishingly small, we should wait and see.
I’m surprised they haven’t got about 20 drones checking the area unless this is a search on a budget?
Does it make you feel good to say things like that? Just curious.
I didn't realise hot ment more than 40 degrees. If it was that hot for me the mystery is how on Earth an educated person can leave a cool room and go for a walk. I wouldn't even let my husband to get something from a shop. This temperature is insane. Why didn't they realise it was not okay for a walk?
You obviously haven't read the stories. He was not in a cool room before he embarked on the journey.
I know he wasn't. I meant at 39 degrees they close schools and there is heat alert. To be on the beach at that temperature is already insane.
This smells of a heatstroke episode. I used to see it all the time when I worked in the Canary Islands.
I hope they find him.
he had a sun umbrella, he is a doctor and would be aware of heatstroke, and if he collapsed someone would have spotted him on the path anyway. I think he took a tumble andfell in
@beaulieuc8910 Yes I agree. He probably fell in after a heatstroke. 48 degrees and he's over 60. Being a Doctor wouldn't make him immune to the heat. Especially coming from the UK.
Fell in where? It's been confirmed he made it over the coastal path to the town of pedi away from the sea he then took a wrong turn somewhere into the rocky hills.
I guess when you get heatstroke you stop thinking rationally don't you? Seems to make sense.
@@chriswilkinson7636 Yes, you could easily collapse unconscious and completely stop thinking.
You think he would have been very aware of the risks
Yes, indeed. Being a doctor.
He could have got confused.
exactly, he had a sun umbrella too, he is older and more wise too
@@marycull3607 I wondered about that too; if he was unwelll, getting heatstroke ...
i really think he fell into the sea off the coastal path, possible heart attack or passed out from the heat 😨

@@angelaramsay1778police have said they are certain he didn't go into the water. He was seen on cctv taking an inland track through a rocky area.

In the circumstances I can't fathom why he didn't take his mobile phone with him in case of an emergency. Its all very strange.
He left the beach because he felt unwell according to news articles, so maybe in the urge to just get home & out of the extreme heat, he forgot.
@@sarahholland2600 the temperature out in Greece in horrendous. I couldn't bear it.

He wasn't a boy scout.

I heard there was no signal around that beach, but yes even so
He is a very intelligent man. Had an umbrella and cap to protect from sun, but no phone and walking with conviction in the wrong direction in treturous conditions - sadly i think he knew what he was doing and i dont think he wants to be found.
I'm thinking the same now.
It's not sensible to wear a cap in the heat when he had an umbrella up - the cap stops your body heat leaving via the head.
Yes. Perhaps just overwhelmed and couldn't cope. Much was expected of him.😢
Wow, people….
I hope what's happened is that he's become overcome by the heat and some local has found him and taken him home to let him recover. He may be with somebody who doesn't know who he is and doesn't realise he's being looked for. I don't know how big that island is or if there are any of the original locals left on it. Could Michael Mosley have found his way to somewhere remote and been taken into a farmhouse?
LOL!
I’m sure Dr Mosely could tell them who he was and he would realise his wife would be worried sick. 🙄
Perhaps he was delirious and his rescuer,if there was one, didn't speak English and was unaware of his identity? The whole thing is very strange indeed and very worrying. He always came across as a very caring, clever man. Let's hope there will be some positive news soon.
You’ve been reading too many novels. As romantic as this story would be it’s just completely unrealistic
Something doesn't add up here. Why would you leave your phone behind, and why would you walk in that heat?🤔🤔
Maybe he left the phone charging as others on the boat had their phones? Walking in 109 degree heat makes no sense though.
Terrible. I just don’t understand why people vacation in Hellishly hot places in summer. Doesn’t some place cool appeal at all?
The average temp for Symi this time of year is 26°C only the heat wave has pushed the temps to over 40°C and they wouldn't have known that when they booked this trip probably months ago..
Some like it hot 🥵.
@firebird4240 I understand. But with global warming, so many places are not at average temps at all. Heat harms more quickly than people expect.
The thing is it’s a different kind of heat, it’s not like the uk
@@babyamy3884So true. In Greece you can lose 2 litres of body water in 2 hours. Brain is boiling... Walking through rocky terrain in +40c is a very wrong decision.
We were in Greece two years ago at this time of the year and it’s really hot 33 - 35 degrees that time. Not a good time for a hike
There is something off about this story, apparently he was going back to the villa as he did not feel well. It does not look good, 3 days and no sign. I honestly think the search teams are now looking at a recovery.
He may have wanted to disappear. It’s odd to suddenly want to hike in those high temperatures. He may have been picked up and is in hiding somewhere or even off the island.
I can’t imagine he would do that to his loved ones ,he strikes me as a very caring man .
People don't realise how easy it is for the body to overheat - moreso with age. Also, rocky areas can be 10° or more hotter than the recorded in shade temperature.
It's very easy to get lost on nature paths.
Plus, he was carrying a dark umbrella that absorbs heat.
Prayers to the family, in extreme heat, no mobile no water and rocky areas ..poor man its a mystery 🙏
So sorry to hear the bad news, but still have hope Dr Mosley will be found safe, cos he's a talented knowledgeable guy, will know how to survived under the bad conditions he's in. IMHO
He's not a survival expert.

Sadly I think he,s drowned in the sea. His body will wash up shortly on the coastline.Very sad.
Yes, Im not sure if they have sharks there. Here in Australia sharks are very numerous at 0beaches although authorities keep it quiet so as not to affect tourism. I found a guys's body who had gone missing 10 days previous in the surf.
Occasionally, you hear of people wanting to walk out on life...

Yes, I wondered too; but he has a wife and 4 children ... and "missing" is a terrible life sentence for them to carry.
My husband's a social worker. That is what he thought from the start. Guys who do that aren't really thinking about all those things:-(
I remember he did a sophisticated personality test years ago on a TV programme and he was quite high up on the psychopathy scale, although not a fully fledged one.
I had the same thoughts. Maybe his marriage wasn't as happy as everyone thought it was, maybe he had had enough, maybe he wanted a fresh start? Who knows what goes on behind closed doors.
Praying for him for days - even before the news came out he was on my heart and mind!!
He's in my prayers God Bless him and is Family's 🙏🙏🙏

He's a doctor , and he seem to be fit and healthy ......... , and must've known about the terrible heat and to bring water if he went for a walk by himself?
I don't get it!
And he should have phoned his wife if he went on a boat or left the island , like some people is thinking - from ANY phone ,since he didn't bring his own.
Still PRAYING for him!! 🙏 ❤ (and his whole family that is going through this nightmare)
Is there a Monastry & Windmills up in that area? 2 brothers say they saw him & he had his head in his hands- this though is unverified- but that causes some concern.
Absolutely. 😢
How about using freaking Google Maps (or any other service) and freaking find out hey?
The windmills are in Symi town, roughly where he was heading, but a long distance from where he was last seen on cctv.
He made the journey… they have cctv, he then needed to catch a bus to where he was living, this is where the trail goes cold
The police checked cctv and found the bus lead to be false..it wasn't him.
It doesn’t look good now however miracles do happen at times .. My thoughts are with his loved ones.
He is very cleaver. 5 min in this path , he would realised it is too hot , I have no right shoes or water. I am coming back . Someone closer to the path must have seen something
I think you're close to something. Someone that he met did something to him. I think he may be alive and held captive somewhere
Fallen down a well!?
Didn't he tell his friends that he wasn't feeling well?
Could of been kidnapped and taken away from the area. Should of never walked off on his own. We always stay together when on holiday
Why would someone want to carry off an old man? No call for ransom, and that''s about it for motive.
The fellow who saw him at the bus stop - is he credible? All sorts of weird people come out and say all sorts of things… for strange reasons!
Have they checked with the police to us the bus drivers? Others on the bus?

The main fact is....he left his phone behind....is very suspicious.....i don't think it's good news at the end of the day....so sorry to say....he knew exactly what he was doing....sad indeed.
The lack of a phone has been discussed elsewhere...he may have simply forgotten it, or felt that with a group of people he wouldn't need his too, or that he didn't want to risk dropping it overboard in the boat, or that it needed charging, or had a tendency to overheat... The possibilities are many and not having one with him is no real indication of 'malice aforethought' ! Let him just be found, he may be in need of urgent treatment for a number of reasons, including dehydration which can cause hallucinations and general fatigue and confusion... If (hopefully, though as time goes on...) found alive, he may eventually be able to explain his actions, or, if some are right, a note... Either way... Please. Let him be found. Soon.
Possible.
But he could also just have left his phone behind as many people do on a regular basis, especially because he was with three other people.
We'd have to know if he used to leave his phone at home sometimes or if this was really out of the ordinary.
There are other cases of people going missing in Greece. An older man same age as Mosley went missing there few years ago and they're still looking
