I think we have all just witnessed a phenomenon. A once-in-a-lifetime conversation with a man who embodies head, heart, and hands. What a gift to this world!
I said to my son, this is what the Holy Spirit looks like on a person. Excellence personified! It also speaks volumes of the host to be able to create and hold space for such a dynamic expression of the soul. I am so touched moved and inspired. A heartfelt thank you for allowing us to partake in this experience. ❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥
What I find beautiful about this is not only experiencing Jon's soulful perspective and personality, but also getting to see how Tim has developed into the person ready for this conversation. A deeply sweet and meaningful collaboration by both. Thank you.
I listened this in the podcast app twice. You were right, Tim. This interview has to be seen, and not just for the piano moments. "What we play is life." The subtraction/quiet that happened when he did the "Be still and know that I am God," exercise was a treat. Pure brilliance.
I don’t really know Jon’s work (yet) but I think some of his insights and observations here just caused a root-level psychic shift in me. Conversations like these are a gift to humanity. Wisdom for free.
I have always been a fan of Jon and, I just love his light in this world. His genius is palpable. His knowledge and connection to Spirit, Humanity and Music is otherworldly.
Truly he is a Mystical Musical Shaman, which is why he hears what other's don't. A Spirit Mover. So Yesss, he's still listening intuitively to his calling .The Medicine we need in the world. . Beautiful Interview. 🌬💞
BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I BE STILL AND KNOW THAT BE STILL AND KNOW BE STILL AND BE STILL BE Powerful!!! ❤❤❤❤
This whole thing fired up so many emotions out of nowhere, even tearing up. I get it all and it's beautiful. Thank you for the both of you for this one Tim and Jon. Just wow.
Jon Batiste, you're pure light. It's so beautiful to listen and hear about the way you think and create...as someone who spent her working hours teaching people to stop reacting but to instead respond and create, this touches me not just as a lover of art but as a teacher....Beautiful....we are so lucky to have your art in a form that can be shared and listening to you at the Radio City Hall was AMAZING!!!!! xo
Very likely Tim best episode ever. Great job Tim and Jon and thanks for allowing us all to be flies on the wall on this vulnerable and spirit-filled conversation.
Being able to listen to him play a perfectly tuned piano, right next to him, with your own ears, so close that you can hear the thunk of the keys even! Heaven.
Even the silence before the statement of “Be”….. 💜🙏💜 My wish for all the folks on RUclips, for their algorithm to send them this interview, and they choose to view it. 😘😘😘😘😘
Jon's reaction at 1:01:38 was exactly how I felt about that question. What a great question and incredible response. "We have so much bestowed upon us and you wake up everyday as a steward of it all."
I’ve followed Tim for almost 2 decades and this is hands down my favorite interview. Jon is a beautiful human and so full of light, but it’s also so amazing to see it reflected in the awe and joy on Tim’s face. So many deep, important lessons and messages of wisdom. This man is here to change the world and connect us all - not just through his music. So inspiring.
I always listen to podcasts through the podcast app on my phone while working out, cooking, cleaning, etc. This episode was so unbelievably good and had so many layers to it that I have to actually watch it on YT. Wow. Such a beautiful, transformative conversation. Thank you.
I discovered JB during Covid. I also saw a magical mystery tour of his beautiful house in Brooklyn, shares with his wife. It is the manifeststion & extended architecture & interior design of their twinned souls in rare physical form. What a privilege to listen to.
I had chills during the whole interview...Wow, what an experience...Thank you, Tim and Jon, and Molly. Listening to you two, and looking at Molly brought me into a truly peaceful and calm state, I rarely get to. Speechless.
I really like the way you posed your questions... your depth of insight and the questions that really made Jon say stuff that he might not have said if he was not asked. Pls when will you interview Hiromi too? I like her soooo much!
A quality conversation with an incredible human who is so evolved, intuitive and seems to channel the divine effortlessly. He creates through his music an experience of how the world could be. Words cannot capture his vision, ability and dedication. He and Sulieka seem from a more sensitive and heartfelt galaxy. They are both a blessing and example of human potential. Beautiful to witness.
It’s been a while since I’ve listened to one of Tim’s podcast, and the algorithm gods did me a favour this time. What a beautiful conversation, so much depth, wisdom and pure soul goodness was shared here. This is a re-listen again and again kind of episode. Deepest form of gratitude to you both. 💞✨
One of the most soulful, connecting, present and unrushed conversations, where both people feed inspiration to each other, engage with their full attention and go deep. And the use of silence with so much comfort from Jon reminds me of the Rick Rubin's 2015 interview with Tim. Inspiring
Love the slow pace format and dimmed lights that allow for intimacy and depth. It is as if Tim has a different sense of wander in his eyes. Not one that it trying to understand the world through logic, systems and facts but one that let's him experience it through surrender by listening to his guest and just being there with their energy.
Dear Tim, Each Friday, your 5-Bullet Friday newsletter is like a gift that continues to inspire. The discoveries you share always feel like new windows opening, and I’m grateful for the thought and energy you put into curating such meaningful gems. Your podcast with Jon Batiste was one such gem! Thank you for creating something so vibrant each week-it’s truly appreciated. Warm regards, Victor 🙏
Offfffff, what a timely pod for me. Been a Lil rattled and anxious as of late and this one hit the spot. What an articulate and warm guest. Thank you Tim for not following the current path of podcasts booking the guy with the hottest book coming out, stay true to your art, we love you
I listened to this interview on my podcast player, then I came here to watch the whole interview again. I needed to see this interview, not just hear it. Jon Batiste is on a different level. He is an artist with many layers and I needed to look at his expressions, hand gestures, and most definitely his playing of the piano, especially in his response to Tim's question. You can treat yourself to this completely improvised 'stream of consciousness' by Jon Batiste at [1:16:16]. It gave me goosebumps. This conversation was deep and inspiring. What a delight to hear and see Jon share his wisdom and talents. Thank you Tim for this interview 🙏🏼😌
Another amazing conversation from the best artiste ever as far as we are concerned. the richness of Jon Batiste's thought process is really astounding. The depth of feelings and emotions and the honesty are unique and mind boggling. this is a unique individual who just started putting his mark on th e world;
The part when you admitted how nervous you get is going to help me with my performing so much Bless your soul! I completely have that same reaction to performing! So good to hear that someone as talented as you has it too!
This is so lovely! 🥰 As a lifelong lover of both Jimi and blues, this is very enjoyable and added a little something extra special. I agree with the other comments, Jon is on a very different frequency than most. Such a fabulous human and example to all of us. Thank you for sharing 🙏 keep up the good work.
Wow, what a beautiful conversation between two people who deeply understand and respect one another. Tim asks incredible questions. Jon answers them with care. ❤ Thanks to both of you. I learned and felt so much.
Two of my favourite humans hanging out?? Oh hell yes! Tim, this was so precious and exquisitely profound. As a neurodivergent creative animal, I can relate to everything in this session on a cellular level. I was crying on & off through the last half of it. SO good. Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou.❤🙏
Jon: your played stream of consciousness gave me the shivers, and some tears, accompanied by a quiet smile… all deeper than it sounds. Uffff… TY. 🙏🏻 And bravo for this interview, Tim.
Jon makes music into a lifeform that feels like we can interact with it on a deeply personal level. Like a sage passing wisdom onto us we can't even understand. But we can feel the words resonating deep within us. Connecting us to our heart.
One of the best. This is what it sounds and looks like to have spiritual clarity : "Take your time to find the prize." "Own what you've been given." BL: In life, there is so much to be said for thinking about, finding, and then investing time on doing what you're built to do (The Gift).
Kudos to Tim and Jon for this transcendent ode to creativity, originality, and humanity. This ought to be prescribed to anyone filling a bit anxious about what's happening in our world right now. Their exchange s a testimony to our resilient human spirt and to the transcendent nature of humanKIND.
I can’t believe i was shooting hoops next to this dude and didnt’ really know whose he was. I knew he was on colbert’s show but didnt’ know much else. He was shooting hoops like everyone else sharing the court, what a privilege to be near him.
Thank you for this moving, deep, magical interview. It is a privilege to pull up a chair (virtually) to experience this inspiring creation of a very real manifestation of energy and sharing. Jon Batiste has been on my radar a lot lately as an extremely talented and accomplished artist living from a unique and authentic place. Tim, you asked questions and made comments that both allowed Jon to naturally share and to bring out even more. The piano jam at the end brought tears to my eyes.
I've taken a lot of notes on this episode. I thought I learned so much from Tim that it would be hard to have breakthroughs again. This episode proved me wrong. Thank you Tim and Jon!
Oh my God, the level of depth is unmatched 😥, wish I could have these kind of interactions more often. Loved it, thanks Tim 🙏🏾❤. Jon I have no words.. just pure, intense inspiration, you are precious ❤😅
Totally, totally LOVED this episode!!! Tim mentioned his episode with Jaime Foxx and that was another fantastic episode. Both were similarly AMAZING! I only discovered Jon Batiste a few weeks ago but what a multitalented man and seemingly beautiful soul!!
I agree with another commenter that it’s very confusing why the views are lower, especially when the audio points the listener towards the video. The small/medium sized company I work for introduces new employees by asking a few questions, one is their favorite podcast (or a good show/book/etc)… I predate this new question but when I reflect on it I always come back to The Tim Ferris Show. I listen to A LOT of podcasts (trying to slim down my intake and be intentional about books and a good input diet) and they’re all high quality interviews with amazing guests. What sets Tim apart is the precision-like quality of his question asking. As a long-time listener it’s a joy to watch the improvement and dedication he’s taken towards becoming close enough to the interview guest that they feel comfortable sharing deeper insights. Cal Fussman is one of my favorite episodes (ep 1) and I believe that’s who inspired that particular skill. The breadth of guest quality and timeless wisdom to be gained is refreshing in a time when most guests do their podcast circuit, promote their book, and spout out their story and light gloss of insight or opinion about topics du jour. Love you Tim. Keep it up. Also, props to Jon for my favorite response to the billboard question and soulful gems dropped. Beautiful interview.
Divine masculine embodied in both, amplified exponentially . LOOOOoooove expressed! Oh - I am so grateful. What a gift to witness you and feel you together. Whaaaauuuwwwh!
An utterly engaging, emotionally compelling, yet thought-provoking interview. Both the guest and the questioner were articulate and eloquent, with a deep sense of purpose. They translated experiences they’ve explored throughout their lives while keeping it simple, like a friendly chat between two chaps who just met on the sidewalk. It’s Jon Batiste himself, seasoned by experience, who acknowledges that life is full of peaks and troughs, but it’s up to us whether we decide to take advantage of it, using it as a life lesson, or give up our dreams in favor of leisure and seemingly trivial activities. Hardened by life, the musician perfectly articulates how he transformed his obstacle-filled life into a beautiful story. 41:49
To go from brilliance to illumination for all, and to connect art to a path to life was so helpful and a true blessing. A gift being given and so gratefully received and needed. Mahalo nui loa.
I still don't understand why Tim's YT videos don't get more views. Does the algorithm not like his content?! The algorithm prefers controversial aggressive content over non-political uncontroversial, evergreen content. :/
Because the messages aren’t always for everyone. Everyone isn’t vibrating or ready to receive such information without mentally spiritually being lead to them is how I see it. Same as the billboard opportunity he passed up.
Incredible episode, especially toward the end. Jon’s description of how improvisation influences his composition was eye-opening and truly fascinating.

I think we have all just witnessed a phenomenon. A once-in-a-lifetime conversation with a man who embodies head, heart, and hands. What a gift to this world!
I could not have said it better!
WOW! John Batiste has such a strong and clear awareness, He is a next level human being. I had no idea, I am in awe
The clarity is astounding. Like no fluff.
One of the smartest conversations I have experienced in recent memory on a soul level. Truly inspiring.
Gist of basically every Tim Ferriss episode. Single most inspiring instance of my life.
I said to my son, this is what the Holy Spirit looks like on a person. Excellence personified! What I find beautiful about this is not only experiencing Jon's soulful perspective and personality, but also getting to see how Tim has developed into the person ready for this conversation. A deeply sweet and meaningful collaboration by both. Thank you.
Jon is a gift to humanity. He is one of one, a generational talent. He just vibrates on a different frequency to us mere mortals.
Amen to this!!
I listened this in the podcast app twice. You were right, Tim. This interview has to be seen, and not just for the piano moments. "What we play is life." The subtraction/quiet that happened when he did the "Be still and know that I am God," exercise was a treat. Pure brilliance.
Very few podcasts are a spiritual experience. But this...❤🙏
love seeing Tim standing in the back happy as a kid in a candy store when Jon starts playing. super special moment
“Finding the muse in the mundane” … this is going to be wonderful
I want to live in the world Jon Batiste envisions.
I absolutely adore this man! May he always be protected! ❤🙏🏽
Coming back here again to say how much I love this conversation.
I don’t really know Jon’s work (yet) but I think some of his insights and observations here just caused a root-level psychic shift in me. Conversations like these are a gift to humanity. Wisdom for free.

That was honestly one of the best podcasts/conversatons I've seen between two humans period.
This man speaks in poems ❤
Being able to listen to him play a perfectly tuned piano, right next to him, with your own ears, so close that you can hear the thunk of the keys even! Heaven.
Jon Batiste, you're a very special person. The way you share your art is a lesson of life and humility for Human Kind. Thank you🥰

Podcast + documentary + improvisation… seems to me that this was a whole different category of product ✨
What wonderful and cathartic energy from this video. Thank You

Wow! This was a beautiful episode! The creative, the divine all in one. Thank you Mr. Ferris.
This interview feels different than Tim's other podcasts. Looks like the time off this summer has done Tim well. Way to level things up!
Enjoyed this so much. 🙏🏽✨
I'm speechless.
Wow!!! That is wow! Tim, so glad to see how happy you are !
Wow!! Watched the entire thing and I feel so honored to have witnessed this intimate and powerful conversation 💗
I needed to hear this. My soul was craving real inspiration.
Very inspiring, thank you ❤
This podcast was awesome. I'll have to check out more of Jon and his work
I am so grateful for Tim and Jon. They are both feeding my soul frequently ❤ 🙏
What a beautiful mind.
Tim. This conversation was amazing.
Dense in valuable thoughts about creativity and pattern interrupting ideas about looking at ourselves as humans.
Thanks, Tim for going more spiritual! Amazing episode.✨
