Excellent video and once again a flawless performance from 70000, Nothing better than the superb two cylinder beat and throaty exhaust from a britannia, regards.
Hi Vincent and thank you for your kind and I am sure; inaccurate description of your good self, although I will take the "happy"!! Very pleased you enjoyed the clip and thank you for your subscription, welcome aboard! Best regards, Alan
Superb video Alan. Brilliant panning at Netherton. Its a fabulous sight seeing steam along the Dawlish sea wall. They've made a fantastic job on the sea wall defences. Enjoyable video C&A
Hi C&A and thank you for the kind comments. You are so right about the sea wall, I can't wait to inspect things up close when they finally finish. Best regards, Alan
Hi Keith: many thanks for your kind remarks. It certainly has been interesting to follow the progress on the sea wall and to see just how much manpower has gone into the work so far. Best regards, Alan.
Cracking footage Alan , your video through me at first as the title makes it sound as though it was a 2014 video . Britannia on top form as was the cameraman .Steve
Hi Steve and thank you first for your very kind comments and second for pointing out my slip of the key. I usually make that mistake in the January of a new year but June must go down as something of a record! Always nice to hear from you. Best regards, Alan
Now that's what I call.... Steam, Sun, Sand & Sea Not often one can combine a steamy train journey with making a splash on the beach. Alan Steamclips was hot and bothered, as he sat on a deckchair on unspoiled sand. He was munching a Dark Chocolate Magnum ice cream, just to quench his thirst. "Toot!" wailed a whistle in the distance. Alan stood up and turned round quickly. Britannia came flying past at full speed. Alan just watched, there was no way he could take a photo with an ice cream in one hand. The steamy soon disappeared and silence settled, except for the cry of the seagulls wheeling overhead. Very comforting inevitably. Alan finished off his magnum and put the stick in the nearest bin, he was not one for being a litterbug. Sitting down on the deckchair once more, the young man fell asleep under the shade of a borrowed parasol. The breeze was blowing strongly enough to cool him down. However.... "Peep!" A shrill Swindon whistle woke the fellow up with a start. He jumped up and whirled round. Rood Ashton Hall and Angry Ollie swung round the curve, on the fly in the opposite direction. Alan was so startled, he nearly tripped over his own two feet. Talk about a rude awakening. "Oh well, can't win them all," he sighed smiling. There was nothing he loved more than being rudely disturbed from his slumber. The two steamies whistled together cheekily. At the end of it all, Alan woke up from his dream of steam, sun, sand and sea. He realised he'd slept so long, he'd forgotten about Christmas Day. What a sleepyhead. No use crying over spilt coal and water.
Thanks for the "young man" Kelly, that proves we were both dreaming! I'll try to come up with something special for Christmas although we very rarely get snow down here!! Best wishes, Alan
I heard a while ago that Mark I coaches were going to be banned because of safety issues? Not because they were worn out or anything, just that they aren't as crashworthy as MK II or MK IIIs. Evidently I was wrong.
Hello Mark and thank you for your kind comment. Langstone is a special place to film but I have yet to film from the very top which I imagine is quite a thrilling location. Thank you also for your subscription, welcome aboard! Best regards, Alan.
