Features: Duane Bartok and Ken Hudacek are developers of a Haybine Header Reverser. At the time of our visit they had made over 100 for sale to farmers wanting to make haying more efficient. The hydraulic unit can be retrofitted on a number of popular mower conditioner units of all colors. At the time of our visit in 2012 they were selling them for $1550.00 per unit.

Gentlemen, I had a sickle bine for a few years and had nothing but issues with plugging up in heavy hay crop. I was talked to trying out a 7430 disc bine and I did. Should of bought one few years sooner. Absolutely no comparison. None what so ever . Old sickle bine 2.5 to 3.5 mph and disc bine I cut 7 to 9.5mph. And I cut around sloughs with hay 6 to 7ft tall. Sickle bine is the thing of the past. But they did do the job. Good video men.

    1. if its binding, the hay is TO WET to cut
    2. get a discbine.
    old days, old ways

If you are running a haybine vs a discbine...you are a $ buyer. There is a reason why there are a lot of old haybines running and why old discbines go for scrap. Gear boxes...if you get a milk cheque... discbine. If you rely on a calf cheque...you may only want haybine; and a reverser.

I can see using a sickle machine for certain crops, but that looked like old, tough hay!

i cannot understand why haybines didn't have reversers 50 years ago

Things were manual/mechanical driven. With hydraulic pumps and motor setups you can easily reverse the directions, pending if the rest of the machine can do it without damaging something.

Just buy a discbine. You'll save yourself so much time and headaches.

Only if there was a way to do it on a pto driven. We have a NH 477 haybine.

We have a Volvo bm 400 and if you put it in reverse low range and let the clutch up to half way (it has a cluch for the pto on the pedal on the first half an the secand half is for driving) it wil turn the pto backwards
sorry for bad englisch I am dutch.

@@superwceend5526 Not all tractors are that way. The 2016 mahindra 4530 i sold was sync. I shredded ground in reverse taling out stumps 5in in diameter. The old Ford 2100 (if i recall) i could do the clutch trick. The larger 4500 ford couldnt. Now, im thinking of hydrostatic for my bad leg though Mahindra is still the cheapest clutch tractor new.

Every trailed disc mower can have a conditionner... Each manufacturer has some to propose!

Some people don't have that much money and they like them better because that's most likely what they grew up with

Well, if a disc mower with a conditioner "isnt that much" you are more than welcome to buy one for this farmer in the video, oh and buy him a tractor that is capable of using one.
