Fringe is the best sci-fi TV show i've ever watched. Hands down. No question. I've seen the whole series 3 times over. You pick up more things each time you watch it. It's a shame this was created and aired in the era of converting from prime time TV airing to streaming services. If it came out 5 years later than it did and hit the streaming services, it would've garnered a much wider and more captivated audience.
I loved it more than the X-Files actually. That ended up lasting too long, especially with the "return" seasons. They stretched it toooooo long and too thin to be as fun and scary as it used to be. Fringe never (IMHO) reached that point with me. That was one of the few shows that began strong and ended strong and didn't overstay it's welcome. I miss it being on. YES...it IS very worth watching.
As a huge fan of X-Files, I could definitely see the influence it had on Fringe. I'm glad Fringe developed its own personality and grew on it and didn't become a copy of X-Files.
Agree with everything said here. I watched Fringe from the first episode all the way to its bizarre final season during its original run. Its odd and get's, well, odder, but it all feels so refreshing. If you let your mind be enveloped into the Fringe world and just go with the craziness of all its revelations and twists, it makes for an amazing Sci Fi show!
Fringe it's soooo good, i freaking love it. The only tv series that recently gave me Fringe vibes, was the german netflix series DARK, if you loved Fringe, Dark is at the same level.
I'm just after watching season 1 of Fringe (and the whole Dark series a while ago). I don't think the comparison is fair. Maybe it's just me, but I find Fringe to be a jumble of wierd medical / sci-fi ideas mixed together and "mass produced" - just a typical TV series. Dark is a masterpiece in my mind - it's on a totally different level. I don't know, it doesn't hit the spot for me personally. Maybe it just gets better after season 1? Or maybe your opinion is somewhat clouded with nostalgia for the show? Don't want to tear your world apart, just presenting my thoughts.
Fringe is my all-time favorite show and I'm super happy to see it getting some recognition all these years later. Great video! I also watched it during its original run and want to do a complete DVD rewatch at some point. The fifth season IS weird, it almost feels like a spin-off rather than the actual final season. Despite there being some unanswered questions and a lot of logical inconcistencies (hello Bad Robot style), Fringe had a great finale with wonderful emotional closure. Just a small note: Kurtzman and Orci did develop the show with Abrams and had a lot of input in the beginning but the showrunners were Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman.
The love between father Walter and son Peter, and the love between Peter and Olivia is so touching that I really felt it (something that usually doesn’t happen when I watch stuff). I also love that the Start Credits & Theme Song changes, according to the context of the show (like that 1980s version). Fringe is one of the best shows, it’s up there with Babylon 5.
I watched Fringe when it aired and I'll admit, I got close to quitting on it during season 2, but I'm glad I didn't because it really kicks into gear in season 3 through to the end. It's well worth a watch.
Just started watching it again after its original airing. Bought it on DVD after it finished on TV but never saw it again, till now. Now I remember why I loved it so much. Love ALL the characters, but John Noble is, perfect as Walter. No other word can explain his performance. Up to season 2, so far.
This is one of my favorite shows. For those that watch it from beginning to end, I think you are left with fond memories. If you jump in somewhere in the middle, well it's probably not going to work out for you.
saw one episode randomly on tv like 10-12 years ago and instantly knew i wanted more, since then i have binged the entire show every 2 years or so, 100% underrated!
I watched this with my mom, downloaded just a little bit after it's us airing. Such an intriguing and unique show where Noble absolutely steals every scene. I think it's his best performance. It's absolutely a hidden gem.
oddly enough my favorite season was the 5th. but in order to get the full benefit of that season you need to watch season 4's "Letters of transit" first. this was a brilliant piece of storytelling. this season was one long tale and it was awesome. i loved the entire run though. got the blu ray set and have watched it several times. it is quite possibly the best sci fi show ever.
I was waiting for this show before it started. I watched the first one and was like "Wow! This is awesome!" Then after looking things up on the internet..there is so much more involved than just the story. I def loved this show. It did kind of reach too much, but it did, for the most part get there.
Yes but their too many episodes in the 1st season and half that are skiable. Then the show become a like a back door pilot to another level with a seemless transition into something great and engaging. brilliant, now I have happy memories of all the great characters and performances in fringe
A supreme YESSS! A million times John Noble not winning an Emmy is highway robbery. I love this show and I bought it on itunes a few years ago and watch it all the way through almost yearly. Would have been great to get a movie a la Firefly/Serenity style to see, maybe, after the end a bit. There are some powerful episodes with deep cut guess stars. Peter Weller, Christopher Lloyd, Martha Plimpton, Chadwick Bosman, and the always creepy Brad Dourif.
I liked season 5. Well, I liked them all, but I didn't have a problem with season 5. If it had been the fifth season of a super popular show that was guaranteed to have more seasons to follow, it would have been awkward. I think they did the best that they could with the time that they had. And, as far out of left field as it felt like it had come, they did a respectable job of wrapping things up, so that the long time fans weren't left with a cancelled show cliffhanger.
My favorite show when it was airing and just recently rewatched it. It's a bit weird after being used to streaming shoes as you can see it's written for commercial breaks but a small issue and still a fantastic show.
Highly recommended. I am a bit biased being an Aussie as Torv and Nobles performances are terrific but then the whole cast does a great job. My only complaint is that it didn't continue but its well worth the time invested to watch.
They're both aussie? Damn. That explains why Anna Torv is unbelievably good lookin then. I always assumed she was like Swedish or some shit like that lol
The first couple seasons are actually stellar. Walter's character alone is worth watching for. But once they start bringing in the doppelgangers it goes downhill pretty fast.
I became convinced of Fringe's greatness during season 1 when the focus of the film became clear- childhood trauma- and many "one off" shows were stunning. One with the great character actor Steven Root ( and his real-life wife) was one of the greatest- and most heartbreaking- tv shows I saw. A man invents a time force field but why- finding the reason is heartbreaking . Jasinka Nichole elevated her assignments, particularly with the dual "multiverse" role. And Peter Weller's guest turn was awesome.
i can safely say that this was one of the best sci fi shows, and was certainly ahead of its time. i really wish it could have gotten more attention, since it really deserves it. such a unique premise and interesting and mind boggling storyline made it very fun to watch, and it had a good ending.
Fringe was my sister's favorite sci-fi action adventure horror thriller series. It's Twilight Zone meets The X FILES. They used to show this every Friday night. Too bad it was cancelled after 5 seasons.
I probably watched a loose episode here and there on TV years ago, and didn't really pay much attention. Recently I've started binge watching the show and just wow how glad I am that I found it. I recommend it highly!
Right I'm going to watch it now. The show keeps being recommended after all this time. Wasn't aware back then of how highly regarded it was. One of the best tv shows I’ve over seen. Top 20 for sure, more than likely top 10. Brilliant story arc, clever use of humor, very emotional at times (many times). It’s smart, it’s silly, it’s funny, it’s brilliant. I wish the last season was longer, but it does the job. 9/10
Truly one of the most viewed shows ive ever watched utterly addictive the cast and they sinergy is nothing short of perfect i am on my 5th time around since it aired and will watch it countless more times !
Yes, push through season 1 and the first half of 2, focusing on character development. Be prepared for constant gross deaths. 3 is the peak for most. Then let your expectations down for season 4, as it goes slower but is still awesome. Let them down more for 5 and you'll have a good time
That is one of the best series I’ve ever seen, absolutely minds blowing, if your not a person with a restricted minds and admit that anything is possible even the weirdest things just because we don’t understand it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist kinda things, you will get hook on this for sure, and they have all ingredients, form the most extreme serious situations to the funniest, the actor playing Walter should be praised for this roles he’s the special thing good series or movies often missed, it’s really sad that it has only 5 seasons, I would give this a 10 out of 10 love it ! 😍😍
I never watched it back in the day, just binged watched it, definitely worth it. It was at that strange time in TV, between Blueberry phasing out and Apple IPhone phasing in, when TV shows went from over 20 episodes a season to 13. I still want to see Walter’s universe.
I didn't watch series Fringe until 2022. I was bored after watching great 3 seasons of Westworld and all episodes of series The 100. I decided to give Fringe a chance. A lot of time has passed but series Fringe is worth watching even now. One of the best shows ever. Now I'm looking forward to watching the fourth season of the Westworld series but the Fringe crew will stay in my heart forever. I miss the character Walter Bishop.
I always wanted to watch this growing up because my dad loved procedural cbs shows, but he never let me and it's been on my mind for so many years, I feel like I owe it to myself to watch it now that I'm an adult 😂
Great video mate, but i just gotta add something. Apart from the small detective game with the symbols that you mentioned, there is also the Observer game. There is an Observer in each and every episode of the series. Sometimes you see the hat, part of his bald head, his briefcase, somewhere lost in the crowd and i clearly remember 1 episode where the action was filmed basically from the middle of a crowd and the closest person in an observer, but he;s hard to notice because your attention is totally focused on the main characters
Nice... aptly and plainly touted. Perhaps my personal fav Sci-Fi show of all, it's got everything from the Range and Scope to the depth to extent, in a near perfecting fashion that ticks every Facet Box, wether Cast, Story, Originality, Longevity....err, you get the Picture, right? Brilliant
It was good til the last season which felt rushed. They seem like they had jammed 2 seasons archs into 1 which was a disaster. I think fox gave them a heads up that they were gonna cancel and the writers just thrown everything in last minute to wrap up the series.
still, they sticked the landing and ended the show on a great note which is rare to see. and you have to give them credit for doing something so risky and innovative in the last season.
Binged watched it during the lockdown and have to say it was awesome albeit a little too filler heavy. I would have been annoyed had I watched it on TV but it's perfect for streaming. At least they were good fillers unlike the stupid flashbacks of Lost! Lost left such a bad taste that I felt like not even watching the pilot after seeing JJ's name in the intro sequence. Yes, it had the typical JJ-ism: intriguing first season, excellent characters/relationships and a plot full of McGuffins (esp. the last season) but it all tied up pretty well (unlike lost; fuck that show). John Noble was incredible!
One of the best shows EVER. John Noble/Walter Bishop will remain one of my all time favorite characters for life.
Firefly, Fringe, X-Files. the golden trio of Sci Fi shows, and yes Walter Bishop is fucking awesome!!!
He was terrific in this
The answer is A RESOUNDING HELLLL YESSSSSS FRINGE TOTALLY IS A MIND SCRWW IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY

One of the best series to ever air. You'll not be disappointed.

I Fringe binge once a year. It is such a great series.

Fringe was such an incredible show. Fantastic acting and storytelling all around. John Noble is everything!!!
"Should I Watch?" Hell yes, you should watch! Glad to see this underrated gem finally getting the attention it deserves!
I think this and person of interest started simple and evolved into something amazing.
I agree. Person of Interest was amazing
You remind me, I loved Person of Interest and somehow I stopped watching around an early season. Will resume!
Omg i never find people that have watched both. You're awesome

Fringe is one of my favorite shows. Bought the box set and re-watch every few years. Definitely worth a watch!
Same here. I also have the entire series in boxed sets. Best part about watching the shows on DVD...no commercials.

Agreed. Fringe is a much better show than X-Files. Fringe's 5 season stretch was perfect. That finale always bring me to tears.
