The Secretary of Transportation is Roger Millar. Roger Millar joined the Washington State Department of Transportation as Deputy Secretary in October 2015 and was appointed Secretary of Transportation in August 2016. Time for a change in upper management.

Over working employees on equipment that is dated and not paying them enough to have a life outside of working the boats is utter non-sense. Union rules, coast guard rules, to have the number of personnel per passenger numbers, and qualified people on board for safety reasons. The rules also state that if, as a worker, you are late enough to miss the ferry departure time, you can lose your job. If you fail a random drug or alcohol test, and there is no replacement, there is nothing the company can do but to cancel a run. There are always legit reasons for someone not to show up for work BUT if you don’t qualify for one of those reasons, you will no longer have a job great, well paying job.
