Nice video! It’s amazing how much different the Little Calumet River is for fishing in Porter County. So much less polluted. I’m used to fishing in Trail Creek and Salt Creek. I’ve caught steelhead and coho, but no chinook as of yet.
@@nickfeczko I wonder why that is? I mean Salt Creek is a tributary to the East branch of the Little Calumet River, so one would think if there are fewer fish there, so should Salt Creek. I remember seeing lots of Steelhead, Coho, and Chinook in Salt Creek.
@@jk22222sd Salt creek, in my opinion is a little bigger/deeper so I think is one possibility that allows for more fish. I think the biggest factor is the dam I am fishing below in this video. It has made for sentiment to pile up stream with no where to go. This destroys the gravel beds and other holes, thus making it hard for fish to do their thing. If it is harder for fish to survive they won’t continuously come back.
@@nickfeczko Ah I see, I don’t know much of the fishing on the Little Calumet River so I’ll take your word. I’m from Lake County, and even from the ditches out here that connect to the Little Calumet River, I’ve seen big Salmon in October. I like Trail Creek but soooo many people go there.

There’s not as many fish in the little cal, but it is definitely cleaner than the rest of the tribs.
