I can't remember a show with an opening that grabbed me right from the off as this one does. Brilliant storytelling from real recollections, brilliant Irish rhythms, brilliant harmonies, brilliant movement and that wonderful proud proclaiming of I am an islander. This is how a show should open if you want to immediately engage your audience.
By far my favorite musical that i have ever seen live. The parallel between absolute tragedy mixed with horror and humanity and the absolute kindness of strangers. Faith in humanity 🙏🙏🙏
Agreed! The facial reactions of Annette, Beulah, and Bonnie after they turn on the radio and get the news is subtle but devastating, paired with the harmony, especially the note on the second "here"... I'm not crying, you're crying!
im in the state show choir, and this year, for our may concert, we were going to sing this, but i got sick so i missed out, but out of all the songs ive rehearsed, id say its my favourite
Such a moving musical. It absolutely shouldn't work. A musical about 9/11? But it's not about 9/11, it's about human connection and the power of kindness. Honestly think everyone should see it.
LOVE the musical. But can someone tell me how she dropped off her kids at school, went and fed the dogs and cats and then had to pick up her human kids again?!? It’s still morning?!? Only bad part of the entire show. I saw it at a matinee and wanted to see it again that night.
This has always bothered me as well, because they also explicitly mention this is where she first hears about 9/11, which happened at like 9am. Maybe she has kids who go to different schools with different start times? High school vs elementary school?

An SPCA is a large holding center for animals waiting to be adopted. Mostly dogs and cats.
