I think that scene looks, objective-wise, much heavier in the PS1 original. In the two remakes, when grandpa dies, there's a weird pause before he suddenly falls flat dead, which makes the whole drama/scene look cringier, "funnier" and less serious (when it shouldn't). To add to that, Klonoa's scream sounds forced and not as better as the PS1 original, and the whole scene aesthetic-wise also looked much darker/gloomier.
@@Twinklethefox9022 worse, indeed. See your "grandpa" dying, and then know it was a lie, still pretty mess up. Klonoa could be like: "You make me watch my grandpa die in a dream?"
@@FindingsOfAnArmouredMind I didn't understand why don't let the old scream from PS1. It suits better :7 And yeah, it looks cringier after that quickly fall to death.
Joka is the best villain in this series. That evil little sadistic bastard! First game has a better story IMO but I also love the King of Sorrow and Leorina! Leorina and Guntz should be playable in Klonoa 3 with their own stories, level designs and bosses!
Yo también quiero un nuevo personaje jugable para klonoa 3 pero este tendría el anillo del caos un anillo muy diferente al anillo del viento de klonoa y sería un Antihéroe.
I'm gonna say some shit- the Wii remake looked a bit better. Not by much, but models had higher poly counts as well as more pronounced normal mapping for extra detail on characters like Pamela and Nahatomb For both remakes though, I think the opening and ending loses something by being in-engine instead of prerendered. The original game had this very dreamlike quality, a lot of games in it's generation did, but that feeling really aided the presentation and atmosphere for a game that's SUPPOSED to feel like a strange dream.
Kind of a nitpick but I hate they took out Ghadius space void cape during his boss fight, the Wii Remake looks way better graphically speaking during this fight
This might sound like I am hating, but am I the only one who finds the PS1 original far heavier in some aspects compared to its remakes? I examplify: 1 - In the PS1 original, when you meet Ghadius for the first time, just before he takes Lephise with him, he opens up his cape just to show you that inside of him there are stars and galaxies, a detail that is omitted in the two remakes. Then when he leaves the scene, rather than simply teleporting as the remakes show, his body becomes thinnier and just flies out of the scene, which looks nightmare-ish somehow. 2 - In the two remakes, when grandpa dies, there's a weird pause before he suddenly falls flat dead, which makes the whole drama/scene look cringier, "funnier" and less serious (when it shouldn't). To add to that, Klonoa's scream sounds forced and not as better as the PS1 original, and the whole scene aesthetic-wise also looked much darker. 3 - When Joka dies, the PS1 death scene is a bit heavier. You see, in the PS1 orginal, just as he is about to die, there's an explosion but this isn't as sudden and like happening "over" Joka as the remakes show, but from the inside, as you are shown flashes of light coming from inside Joka before actually exploding and dying. Also, he falls into the ground, he doesn't die while standing up as in the remakes (which is just weird). 4 - When Ghadius dies, just before his monologue, his body desintegrates slowly, and just like Joka, his head explodes with flashing lights coming from the inside. 5 - When you're inside Nahatomb, there are two details that the remakes omit. For one, these lazer thingies that he shoots with his eyes look extremely different. In the PS1, they were spinning orange/redish spirals, and due to their size, they were difficult to jump over. And secondly, just before leaving his body, Nahatomb would scream at you, before his face desintegrates into dust (his face just kinda disappears in the remakes). Now, I don't say this in order to hate on the creators and developers. I mean, if more people will get acquainted with the series thanks to this remake, then I'm happy for that. Just saying that these changes make the game less heavy.
Lord Monarch I own all the versions. What's your point? These are not "nitpicks", whatever the hell that means to you. These are details that do change the way the story feels. It IS less heavier than the original PS1. Deal with it.
@@FindingsOfAnArmouredMind I think it might have been toned down on purpose. Despite this being a World of Dreams being invaded by Nightmares, Namco probably weren't intending their game to give children _actual Nightmares!_ While I have no proof that the original PS1 game _did indeed_ give children nightmares, the extra 'heavyness' you implied might have been just a little too much for younger audiences back then...

It's such a shame that Namco didn't remake the fmv (full motion video) from the ps1 game and improved it. That would have been a really emotional ending. And it's such a shame that they removed the adorable intro of the first game, because it's the cutest video game intro ever.
