Yes!!! You are very lucky to have a husband who isn’t afraid to tackle an unknown project….to have the interest, challenge, and WANT to do them! I am also lucky to have a husband that is like that. We are both now in our early 70’s and he’s slowed way down, but still will do some “projects” I come up with😜 In the past though, he built a brick wall and hearth for our wood burning stove, then a 2-car garage (he went to a neighbors house…looked at his garage, did some measurements and built it!) Over the years he has done so many other things I am thankful for. I just can’t list them all!! Our son, who is 49 now, is the same. Thankfully, he learned much from his dad. Your boys will do the same….make sure they watch, listen, and learn from your husband. They are never too young to learn. I REALLY enjoy all your wonderful videos💕
Love your tips! It’s amazing how a good declutter & deep clean can transform a room at no cost. Also- love how you build up and speak highly of your husband. Thank you for this GREAT video! ❤️❤️
Your husband is so very talented! I tackle many projects for the first time but I’m no where near as talented as he is. He has God given gifts with his wood working and tile skills. You are very gifted and talented with decorating your home and with your paintings! Love and appreciate all your household projects and the love that you both put into your home and family. Thanks for the tips! 💜
In the 50s and early 60s , My mom and dad taught us 4 girls to go for it. Not to be afraid to tackle anything. They raised independent women who can change a tire and fix plumbing or run a company. How lucky I feel. Please teach your children to try anything. Research, either with your parents if your lucky, or RUclips. You can do anything, minimum wage to COO.
Andrea Sweetie, Love All Those Ideas!! Thank U For Sharing! I Put Scripture On The Walls & It Made A Difference! Pray That Y'all Have A Very Blessed & Prosperous Week! 😇💖😘💋😀💖😇
I too had a talented husband that could figure out how to do just about anything. We were married for 51 years. He passed away two years ago. He made my dinning room table from wood we salvaged from a pre civil war era house. I enjoy you tips so much and you are just stunning!
I just recently displayed my sons artwork from 2nd-5th grade that I had put on plaques. He is now 18 and he was shocked to see his artwork displayed in my dining room . It’s absolutely beautiful and I have kept it packed away forever until my recent move when I asked myself what I was waiting for and why I hadn’t opened these up after all these years and displayed them. They are now front and center on shelves in my dining room and bring back such wonderful memories!🤍
So, so true Andrea! My suggestion would also be that Better Homes & Garden at Walmart has some beautiful lighting. I bought a foyer light there for $22.00 and saw it at Lowes for $67.00. Also baskets! Spray paint them! They look great! Also peg rail! Cheap & what a difference! I had been wanting this round black mirror. Home Depot's on sale was $127.00. Picked one up at Walmart for about $40.00. Hopefully this will help others as my husband had to retire at 57 due too health problems, so trust me I know what a budget is. You know that saying...." Where there's a will, there's a way!" Have a wonderful blessed day Andrea! How are you feeling?❤️🙏🤗
my dad did just about everything, too. He would go get library books to learn about different processes. I admire that. They saved a TON of money, when they really didn't need to (he had a great job); doing things yourself has to do with more than money! great video!
Yes, the power of paint!!! 😊 I’ve also spray painted old dated light fixtures to give them an updated look! We live in a repurposed barn filled with vintage finds mixed with repurposed materials and decor! You inspire me!!!! 💕
You're adorable!. I think your husband is channeling my Italian father. He could do anything! Plumbing, electricity, restoring vintage cars and trucks, restoring antique houses. I could go on, but he was very much like your husband. He just did it. I live in the Chianti region of Tuscany and sadly most of my beautiful antiques are back in a barn in Connecticut. If it's ever really safe to travel again I want to return and ship a container back with my favorite items. In the meantime, I've spent years picking up furniture literally at dumps sometimes or from carpenters who had old wood lying around. I love making my own paint, sometimes with oil, but a lot of times with skim milk. You should try that. I think you'd love it and it's really easy. Also lasts forever. When my father was restoring the last farmhouse we lived in he stripped 17 layers of paint off of the old woodwork. When he got to the 18th layer it was casein, probably there since 1800. He needed a blow torch to get it off. I can't wait to see all of your videos and your blog. We have incredibly similar taste. I especially appreciated your video about hiding the refrigerator. I'd been looking all day for a video about how to glue wood to your fridge. There was nothing, until I found you! Please congratulate your husband for me on his beautiful work. Watching him brought back so many lovely (and funny) memories of my father.
Thrifting, make-overs and DIY's is just a way of life for us. lol One thing that I like to do is switch things up, move furniture from one room to another, use a dresser as an entryway cabinet, use a pie safe in the bath and so on. Congrats on the new bundle of joy!
My mother was born in a family with multiple kids, my grandparents made sure each kid knew how to solve any household problems on their own. It really saves a lot when you have the knowledge of how to fix things.
My boyfriend is the same as your husband, he will hire out very little. We've even built our own fireplace mantel, and it's no plain mantel. I really appreciate this aspect of his personality.
Andrea, you remind me of my second daughter. She is always redoing things and on a budget. You are so right about painting pieces you already have. Great tips as usual. God’s Blessings to you and your family. 😘
Another thing that makes a big drastic improvement is beautiful fabric. I use them all over the apartment to cover up furniture. There is fabric for every theme.
I completely agree with your comments about throws and pillow covers. I find that to be the easiest way to change rooms out for differing seasons. I love your idea of gathering items together to display a collection. I'm going to try that!
I needed this today! This is where I feel like I am this time year....every year lol. I just paid the kids tuition 💸 , Im not ready for fall, not ready for summer to end, but I got the itch to switch! I'm trying to declutter the boys things and assess what I have first. 💙
.....I've said for 25 + years....." paint is your friend..." 😉😁🙂....I paint almost everything, unless I really love the finish it already has. ...I've got an antique upright Grand Piano, made between 1901- 1908 , and I'm planning on painting it with the resin paint , ( soft white) because I basically like wood, ...but NOT the colour ! Lol. Your husband is so talented, I know you appreciate him, and he appreciates you, since you " put it all together to be beautiful!" . Blessings to you and your Family. 🙏🏻🙂💛
I would recommend getting on youtube and learning to crochet. It is super fun and easy and you can make throws, pillows, bedspreads, baskets and tons of decor for your home for the price of yarn.
OMGsh, I'm SO glad the YT algorithms just blessed me with seeing a post from your channel! Love your decor style, and that you/fab hubs make such a great partnership and loving home for your family.
Beautiful home. Well done you two. Plants and flowers can make a huge impact while waiting to do those big projects. Thrift a beautiful vase or jug and fill it. Pop a plant(s) in an object other than a traditional planter (like an old wooden toolbox for example). Brings the rooms alive.
Exactly the type of help I needed to hear. I am a antique junkie but I dont like to over buy and then not have a place that works for it in my home, but I do have some that I really needed ideas in how to display them, and just decorating tips different from what you know or like , can bring fresh ideas and insight you thought you never had or needed, so thank you again for sharing I truly appreciate it.
Andrea beautiful encouragement from a beautiful person! Getting to know you I can understand where this drive to make thing nice in your home and the willingness to attempt to tackle all that is possible in your husband is his overwhelming L0VE he has for you.
I covered my sofa with an Indian Kantha and added throw pillows. I enjoy textiles. Lamps are wonderful and they add so much. Yes to collections! 😊👍 Good suggestions, now I need to go purge and edit.
Great video!!! So many times we think we can't make changes in our home because of a tight budget, but you and your husband have proved it is entirely possible! Thank you so much for sharing these ideas!!!
Thank you so much, that is exactly what we want so many to understand. It may be easier without so many DIY's, but it is more affordable to do it yourself!
Pine and Prospect Home yes, I agree. During the 49 years of our wonderful marriage, we have learned to do all kinds of home projects, because we have found out when we "do it ourselves," and we educate ourselves, we do a better job, and in most cases we really enjoy doing the work! You have given me so much inspiration, and I really appreciate it so much! Thank you! I pray you and your family stay happy and healthy
Andrea that was some great tips and idea's. So many people think they must buy everything new. Most of those homes are boring and costly. I am not saying all homes must be diy's or used item's. Also not everyone can do what you did or aren't confident enough to do it. But for those that can they accomplish many beautiful things in there home. TFS
Thank you Andrea for your practical ideas today. May I suggest the use of flowers cut from the garden to bring inside to make our homes fresh and pretty. Also if we take the time to learn how to propagate plants for indoors (and outdoors too of course) this is a fantastic way to enliven our rooms with beautiful plants. Being in a garden club and swapping cuttings with other members is another way to source new plants from which we can propagate. In no time our house (and garden) looks so beautiful with the addition of foliage and flowers. May I also compliment you on your philosophy of frugality. Love your channel, thank you for your inspiration. xx
So I bought a little dresser for the kitchen and painted it the grey color and I love it ,its so pretty I'm moving into my new home in a couple of weeks so I'm going to put 3 shelves above the dresser in my new home. I love your style. Luv karyann
I am currently building a dining banquet with built in shelves I my builder grade home and I can't believe I waited this long to do it. I am building it with enexpensive bookcases and so far I am under budget and I am loving how it looks.
Thanks for sharing! I've been on a very limited budget too over the years. One thing you can do if you have no money is to rearrange your furniture. Another one is to make covers for furniture from a drop cloth and curtains. I have done both. They give you a lovely neutral backdrop to work with.
I loved these tips! I recently put out my china on our hutch and was thrilled with the difference it made in the room. Rearranging furniture really helps me when I’m tired of things and want a change without spending a bunch of money. 😊
I totally agree with you. I consider it a challenge to buy furniture from a yard sale and clean it up and paint it. I have people ask where I have purchased items and I get a kick out of telling them “oh I got that at a yard sale for $2.00 and just painted it. You save so much money. I am also blessed with a husband that will make my dreams come true with doing DYI projects.
I have a 1970's espresso looking side table. It's so sad and dark. I'd even be happy with that piano orange at this point lol. I want to transition to all french provincial/french country but this is what I have that's solid wood with drawers right now. I just need to decide on a paint color and pulls. I'd love to work toward that pretty airy vibe you have. You guys have done a really nice job. ❤
I have a collection of dog decor painted plates, that I never displayed until I moved. Now they are on the walls and I love them! Just had to rethink the way to show them off. You are so right about the clean slate!
I so agree, Paint can transform anything. I "shop" my home first, I was able to furnish a family room just by switching things up in other rooms. Switching out pillow covers , I also love throw blankets no matter what time of year....they add a certain coziness....even in summer. Great tips Andrea , thank you.
Thank you for your advice what you said is so true. Most of the time when I watch videos about home decorating , I reach a dead end because I have no budget to do it. I cannot be changing my stuff every time there are new trends. Your advice is very inspiring and helpful. Take care.
I noticed in the dining room you have a lighter brown buffet/dresser rather than white. That looks good. I do like your antique cutting boards. Some of your decorating I have used some of the ideas in my home. I like milk glass and collecting it. I have a red shelf above my sofa and I display it on that. I do enjoy decorating but of course some things right now are not in our budget but we are in the near future looking at Bead board for our living room walls . Doing it half way up and also shiplap or something along those lines for our ceiling in our living room. I do like farmhouse but I do have reds blended in my home. So not as much white as some for their farmhouse. My kitchen has white cabinets and I have white with some gray in it counter tops that are quartz. So my kitchen is one of my favorite rooms. Thanks for sharing your home with us Andrea. Take care. God bless you.
Changing place mats, table clothes for those that use them. clearing out my buffet from things I didnt love, to things that were handed down form our family farm house to me.
When I moved in to my current home I hated the doors so much. They looked antiquated (not in a good way)to me. Since they’re double doors, they were too expensive to replace immediately. Instead, I painted them. Now I love it! All the gold accents it had, pop so much since I painted it a dark blue color.
Thank you for these amazing tips! Please keep them coming! I've been refinishing a few pieces of furniture this year and getting reading to makeover my kitchen table to a farmhouse style.
Thanks so much for the ideas! I love the ideas to clear out a space and organize it. Sometimes I can't spend any money on decorating and my creative side wants to create a beautiful space so bad and I get frustrated that I can't do anything with all my decorating thoughts! But I could at least start with that step! Your videos are so enjoyable to watch, and I love your decorating style! ❤️
I make sure pictures have frames in the same color. Like gold, white, silver, block, get. Or 1 color frame for a room. Yeah paint. I have also used a picture ' s matting in 1 for in a room or for a group of pictures. It can look dramatic. Grandma also carefully wrapped - and taped matting with gift wrap papper. It's awesome in effect !!!! Try it. Use a color or print that emphasizes an aspect of a picture - or that contrasts without. I use this to " dress up" framed holiday pictures. It's fun. 😄
Would you mind doing a video with your husband showing us the tools he uses and how he figured out installing and fixing some of the things in your house? Thank you! Like what is that saw thing he’s using to cut that white board?
You have such a lovely gentle spirit and your ideas are so wise for someone so young. How much joy a life of collecting and editing can bring! I wonder if you might share your window shades are and a source for them. Thanks!
Thanks for all the inspiration. 🤗 truly! We moved into our own cute little cottage back in December & we love it, though outdated & in need of love. Several of your ideas have found their way into our Ever-changing-cottage... thanks for sharing what you’ve been learning along the way. Next year we plan to redo all the landscaping & garden... I can’t wait to tackle the river rock idea around the perimeter of the front gardens. (Another idea from you...) God bless
You can paint a sofa. A friend of mine bought a sette on FB. She wanted a different fabric, so she painted it with chalk paint. It looks beautiful. I'll paint anything.
I made some neutral curtain panels for my bedroom out of flat sheets purchased at Walmart. Whenever I want to freshen up the space, I change the valances. Sometimes, when I’m feeling lazy, I just drape fabric over the curtain rods 😄
Sometimes, just switching out lamp shades makes a big difference too. Buying new kitchen towels and new plants brighten things up. I changed buy dining area by adding a vintage blanket as a tablecloth; wow what a difference.
Would add that if you sew you can save a lot by making pillows or curtains and other things for your home. Agree that paint is great for change in thins also
I buy almost everything used on fb marketplace, or thrift all my home decor and even larger pieces. Or I diy. The only new things in our home are mattresses, our king bed frame and soon new couch and living room chairs...after almost a year of searching for used, but not finding what I want.
Great advice declutter is the magic word and change of colors I had just de cluttered then my sister gifted me with a China set I'm not into dishes I just couldn't say no what would you do
I totally agree with your ideas. I’ve done so much on a budget with paint, lighting, etc. you are an inspiration for everyone who watches your videos. ♥️. And off the subject, what color is your lipstick? I love that color.
Sometimes it is as simple as rearranging furniture from one room to another and using things you already have, but in a different way. Example a heavy tea pitcher use it as a vase.
All great tips. Drop cloth goes a long way too when recovering and repurposing. We’ve also bought lights at hobby lobby on sale and my husband adapted the wiring to be hung from the ceiling. Such a cheap update!
Love everything in your house! Did your hubby make your dining room table? Love it! Thanks so much for the inspiration! . changing my paint colors on some furniture pieces! Thanks to this video! Have a great day!
Hi,cleaning the Windows and airing the rooms on a nice day is good.💖
Yes! Every time I clean my house it looks so much more luxurious and I just love it so much more plus it's free minus a few cleaning supplies.

51 years! You must miss him.I'm so glad you have the table.
Taking things slowly allows us to define what we love. Your home is lovely and inspiring.

Yes that is so true shopping around can make such a difference! I am doing well so far, baby will be here soon!
thanks - great tip - who knew - i never go to walmart
Cheryl you said it right.
You are so talented. Congratulations on baby boy. Quite the experience! What Moms go through for our sweet babies.
my dad did just about everything, too. He would go get library books to learn about different processes. I admire that. They saved a TON of money, when they really didn't need to (he had a great job); doing things yourself has to do with more than money! great video!

Love it. “Never let fear stop you”. Thank you for sharing.

“Itch to switch” - LOL 🥰
Love your sweet voice, and how kind you are! you understand that everybody doesn't have a lot of money. and your tips are so practical
Great video and ideas. I use IKEA pillow covers. Gold for fall, red at Christmas, Beige linen spring & summer, definitely worth a trip to IKEA!

We have painted so many light fixtures and lamps. A can of paint is cheap and now they have the silver, gold antique gold and so forth.
I have a collection of dog decor painted plates, that I never displayed until I moved. Now they are on the walls and I love them! Just had to rethink the way to show them off. You are so right about the clean slate!
Yes, it helps so so much!
I so agree, Paint can transform anything.
I "shop" my home first, I was able to furnish a family room just by switching things up in other rooms. Switching out pillow covers , I also love throw blankets no matter what time of year....they add a certain coziness....even in summer. Great tips Andrea , thank you.
Yes, I love blankets as well, and thank you so much!
I feel we all need to talk about how impressive it is she can paint drawers on her dining table no drop cloth and without drips or splatters!
Love, love, love your home and ideas. ❤
Thank you for your advice what you said is so true. Most of the time when I watch videos about home decorating , I reach a dead end because I have no budget to do it. I cannot be changing my stuff every time there are new trends. Your advice is very inspiring and helpful. Take care.
Andrea great hints! I ❤️your cozy home!
It sounds beautiful Patricia! I am so glad you enjoy me sharing as well, thank you for your kind words!
Great video! Great ideas! Thank you
Thank you so so much!
Everything you do is always so pretty!!
Aw, thank you so much!
Such great ideas and I have done some of them !
You are so sweet and helpful with your ideas. Thank you! I also love to decorate with thrifted items that I paint and touch up as needed!
Thank you for these amazing tips! Please keep them coming! I've been refinishing a few pieces of furniture this year and getting reading to makeover my kitchen table to a farmhouse style.
Hi Andrea. Thank u for all ur good tips on transforming our spaces on a budget. I'll start tmrrw.😊
Love the huge beams. You have excellent taste.
Thank you so much, we just recently put them in. I LOVE them!
Thank you Sarah, I am so encouraged to read that these were helpful for you!
It's fun. 😄
I love your ideas. I need to get started.💕
Thank you Nancy, I hope it all goes well!
Would you mind doing a video with your husband showing us the tools he uses and how he figured out installing and fixing some of the things in your house? Thank you! Like what is that saw thing he’s using to cut that white board?
I love throw blankets and throw pillows on my sofa and chairs. It does make such a difference.loved your tips
Yes, it really does! Thank you!
I need this ! Thank you so much ❤💓💗
You are SO welcome!
(Another idea from you...)
God bless
How exciting! I am so encouraged to read that some of my ideas will be helpful to you as well!
You can paint a sofa. A friend of mine bought a sette on FB. She wanted a different fabric, so she painted it with chalk paint. It looks beautiful. I'll paint anything.
Yes, I have actually done that before and it does work, you are right!
Wow cool, but Sounds uncomfortable to sit on!
So many great ideas, I really want to do crown molding in my home, but maybe I will start with painting the trim work first!
Yes, it can really make such a big difference!
Great ideas as always.❤️
Thank you so much!
🙏🏼 Thank you, I needed this video! Finding my motivation again! 😊
Great ideas, I've always bought second hand items and yes painting items makes a huge difference.
I made some neutral curtain panels for my bedroom out of flat sheets purchased at Walmart. Whenever I want to freshen up the space, I change the valances. Sometimes, when I’m feeling lazy, I just drape fabric over the curtain rods 😄
What a great idea!
Great tips. Ty.
I absolutely love watching your channel..thank you very much for sharing it.it's so beautiful 💕
Sometimes, just switching out lamp shades makes a big difference too. Buying new kitchen towels and new plants brighten things up.
I changed buy dining area by adding a vintage blanket as a tablecloth; wow what a difference.
Ohh so true about paint and pillows, lol. I love grabbing covers off Amazon cuz sometimes I can grab 2 for under $15
Yes, me too! Love switching them out!
Would add that if you sew you can save a lot by making pillows or curtains and other things for your home. Agree that paint is great for change in thins also
Thank you Becky!
Great ideas as always.
Thank you so much!
I buy almost everything used on fb marketplace, or thrift all my home decor and even larger pieces. Or I diy. The only new things in our home are mattresses, our king bed frame and soon new couch and living room chairs...after almost a year of searching for used, but not finding what I want.
Yes, some things you just need to purchase, but I do utilize all of those resources first as well!
Love all your inspiration. I also get all my pillow covers on Amazon. Hope you are doing well. Blessings !
Yes! This is so true, I love new lighting too, it can make such a difference!
Love everything in your house! Did your hubby make your dining room table? Love it! Thanks so much for the inspiration! . changing my paint colors on some furniture pieces! Thanks to this video! Have a great day!
Thank you so so much, and yes he did!
Great tips! Need to do a few myself. Like other comments, I too get the itch to refresh around back-to-school time (mid August here).
Thank you so much!
I love your home!
Thank you so much!
