This is one of my top 5 Nightwish songs. The theatrics, her absolute control, Tuomas's keyboard playing, Marco's devil voice. Those sustained notes. Perfection.

In my top ten. Majestically composed, brilliantly executed. Everything is perfect: the drums are an urgent train that is running over, Emppu's guitar is outlining heavy chords, the keyboard is a blanket that covers the song and gives it the perfect environment. And the voices ... ok, you know. That superposition to tell the story and the dialogue so well adjusted to the beat ... ufff. It is a beautiful song, a brilliant display of talent.

When you see this “wild” side of NW with Floor “crazed” singing then watch her sing Shallow on Beste Zangers tv show where she is super delicate and NW sing songs from the Human Nature album Harvest, Music, Procession you fully appreciate the depth of their talents !

this concert performance was awesome for a number of reasons. the crowd was out of this world. every reactor who knows has said South America has the craziest crowds. Floor had wanted something custom from the designer of her outfit, but she didn't have time, so Floor bought that one she had made already. Toumas has said that the songs on the Decades album and the setlists for the shows were not the "greatest" Nightwish songs. any compilations of that sort that have come out were all put together by the record company. he called these songs the "essential" Nightwish songs. i don't have a link to that interview, but, i'm sure it's pretty easy to find. Kai, the drummer, is back for his second tour with the band. he does an incredible job at this show. "Slaying The Dreamer" and "Dead Boy's Poem" really showcase how good he is.
7:58 is always my favourite part, when Floor runs her fingers through her hair and smiles. Loving these reactions Jacqueline.
This wasn't one of my favorite Nightwish songs at first. Over time it has moved up into my top 5. From the frenetic drums and keyboards, to the back and forth vocals by Marko and Floor, to the theatrical nature of the performance...just amazing. Thanks for the great reaction and appreciation for this song's virtue!
Like I said. Best tour costume of all time. Floor Jansen, Valkyrie Goddess queen. If I am not mistaken, her tour costumes have been donated to a local museum in Kitee, Finland. Another RUclips content creator made a pilgrimage to Kitee and showed off some of the museum's collection. Take care JVB. Love the reactions.

I don't think The Goddess can sing two parts in two different styles at the same time....but I wouldn't bet against her, LOL!
So many songs are lost without Marko, sadly. They still have a lot that they can rearrange or without a male voice, but we are going to miss this kind of stuff.

Love the back and forth dynamics here between Marko and Floor, he's like a devil and she is the goddess of the ocean going at each other till the end she "seems" exhausted, but still, she won the battle, her voice, her little stacatto notes are like weapons against him

I didn't make it to the premiere, because i had some technical problems. This song is from the album "Oceanborn" (1998), and this BA 2018 (Decades tour) live performance is one of their most powerful one. Haha, Floor's "Warrior Queen" outfit there is hot (maybe even too hot for me 😵). I consider her always as a "Lady of the Class ". 😎🌷👍

Nice to see an new NW reaction from you! I always like and enjoy you reactions! I like this song very much and this is the best live performance from this song, i've never seen a better one. You have right, i also think to myself Floor looks really majestic here, how she stands there with this outfit, i like this costume very much! 🖤 Really beautiful! This conzert in Buenos Aires is so cool, i've seen it complete and it's one of my top 5 conzerts, with Wacken '13, Tampere '15, Wembley '15, the End of an era conzert with Tarja 2005 and this one. Nightwish play in Dez. (hopefully) here in the City Hall Vienna, i can't wait for that! 🤘

This song indeed is like a musical, but that's only this version, the original is with different vocalists, both male and female, who did something a bit different.
It's a Tarja era song before Marko arrived so they had a guest deep voice vocalist called Tapio Wilska.
The original is pretty good but this one surpasses it for me.

A little taste of mythological Musical Theater in this one. Marko plays the role of the devil who is amorously pursuing Floor's mermaid character. He fails and Floor escapes to live another day. Great analysis JVB. Floor never blurts out the lyrics. She hold out her lines to the very end. Marko sings a lot, but usually he plays a role of the masculine character within the song. Loved the commentary my friend. Is it time for The Poet & The Pendulum? It is a deep and tragic song. Inspired by the firing of Tarja.
Make life easy just put every recording since the end of 2012 on your play list, with Floor singing there is not a bad performance, Marco has a fantastic voice as well, Troy adds a different feel to a lot the songs since Marco left, but is still great.

When I saw you were doing this one I just knew you'd love it and the look on your face didn't disappoint! I love your enthusiasm and what you were saying about the band and Floor is so correct. They are all true masters of their crafts, and then you got Tuomas the keyboardist, he is the founder/songwriter/composer for the band, he is a musical genius and is known by many as Metal Mozart. Floor is the greatest vocalist I have ever heard, completely jaw-dropping amazing. Just when you think she or Nightwish can't top themselves, they will shock and amaze you again. One of the most intense songs in their discography (not THE most intense, though!). I did not actually like this star-crossed duet between the Devil and the Siren at first - but I was just a kid getting into Metal, and the original version had straight up Death growls for the male singer. :)) Even then, I could sense the final release at the end of this fiery song was something special... and oh, it left me craving more!
I got into NIGHTWISH at their 3rd album in 2001, and went devouring the available catalogue like forest fire. :) "Oceanborn", the second release, still is the one that contains the most "hit" songs for my taste... while others have legendary tracks of their own, not all are SO consistent! If you ever decide to react to a full NIGHTWISH album (and, sure, there are also live versions of the most famous songs!) - this ought to be it. Next in line - "Imaginaerum"; place of honor - "Human. :||: Nature."
