Vlog #44 | Bali | Mt. Batukaru, my hardest hike ever!!!

Unfortunately I hit rock bottom only three weeks into my trip in Australia. Not only did my travel plans for the summer die, but also my van that I was renting in Switzerland broke down with an engine damage and to top it off, my mates van in Australia also broke down and wasnt repairable...
After some thinking, I decided to stay a longer time in Australia, but for that I need a Work and Holiday Visa on which you can only apply from outside of Australia. So during that visa process I'm just gonna adventure through Indonesia.
First stop was Medewi in Bali, where I surfed everyday two or three sessions and lived the dreamy surflife. After a while I decided to also do a hike to Balis lesser known Mt. Batukaru, the second highest mountain on the island. I did my research, although it was hard to find anything usable, and planned a two day trip. It turned out to be my biggest hiking challenge so far, the path just went consistently steep up, was super slippery becuase it was pouring down all the time, there were almost no indications and my 12kg backpack with a rented tent and mattress, didn't make it easier. On the top it was just to cloudy, I had a view for about 20 minutes while being up there.
Summed up, I underestimated this 4 hour hike (one way) and the weather made it worse, but I could still finish it, althought it took everything out of me, I even blacked out for a second.
