    As someone who has struggled with weight my whole life, this video was very relatable. I lost a big chunk of weight in 2019, gained about 30 pounds back after trying to eat without counting calories. I have also never been able to intuitively eat lol. And then lost it the right way, but gained it back after my brother passed away. and now I am in the process of losing it again. This video was super motivational

      Emma. I feel you I’ve always(and still do) carry a couple of extra pounds. My heaviest was 260 at 5’8, the break though for me was jumping rope. I have scoliosis and while I was afraid of hurting myself I’m in less pain than I’ve been in years. On top of that I’m almost 50. Keep fighting the good fight

    • @MHGFTW
      @MHGFTW 11 месяцев назад +1

      If you ever go back to not counting, it helps to check portion sizes. A lot of the time, people that have/gain too much weight are eating multiple portion sizes of a bunch of stuff. I personally know someone who ate a bowl of nuts as a snack during movies, which was like 15 portion sizes. They thought nuts were "healthy fats", so healthy. They are healthy... In their correct portion size. They're also high in calories.

    • @MHGFTW
      @MHGFTW 11 месяцев назад

      @@Rob.S- "a couple extra pounds" is an understatement. At 5'8, 260lbs puts you in the class 3 obesity range. This used to be called morbid obesity.
      "Obesity is frequently subdivided into categories: Class 1: BMI of 30 to < 35. Class 2: BMI of 35 to < 40. Class 3: BMI of 40 or higher. Class 3 obesity is sometimes categorized as “severe” obesity."
      It's good to hear you're a dressing it. Jumping rope might be hard on the knees, but you should do whatever workout you enjoy. I'd still look at what high calory foods you could cut down on from your diet. Perhaps you could add some low calory dense options that you like instead, like yoghurt. Sport is great but it's only a small fraction of weight management compared to what you eat. Best of luck!

    Calorie counting brought me from 334 to 283 lbs. Still have a long way to go, and I have rebounded 9 lbs due to a few months of moving, travel, career change etc. Getting back on routine now. Really annoyed me that my doctor never recommended calorie counting, just said to cut out meat and sugar. Meanwhile I have lost lots of weight cutting carbs and eating more meat than I ever have before. I can eat what I want, but know that everything is a trade off.

      Nutrition is about as hard a science to make sense of that exists aside from the most obvious things like not eating empty calories and processed foods.
      In my experience doctors have huge personal biasis, little consensus among peers and a ton of cynicism towards anything that deviates from the standard food pyramid and moderation style way of eating.
      Even more difficult making sense of what they have to say when you throw in gastrointestinal issues or diet related maladies.
      Trust a doctor to sow you back together and take out your appendix. Unfortunately, figuring out how to live is something where we're all blind mice in the same rat king.

    Something that I think not a lot of people understand is that your body wants you to work out or exercise so badly that it will give you a rush of dopamine while you do it. Like it's not all pain and having a bad time. I started with pull-ups to help me get over a very traumatic experience in my life and after a few days I realized that I actually couldn't wait to do my pull-ups the next day. So on top of the good feelings it was giving me, I started to look like a badass. Everybody started noticing the change in me pretty quick, and that did nothing but explode my confidence. It's a weird thing to say... But pull ups probably saved my life. Since then, I married an absolute knockout of a gym badass, and she put me on a Great track with bodybuilding. Now, I wake up between 3:00 and 4:00 in the morning so I could go to the gym for an hour and then come home to relax before my kids and my wife wake up. I couldn't imagine not going to the gym in the mornings. I look forward to it every night. So yeah, if you're worried about the pain, the fear of waking up early, not eating what you want, etc. all I can say is give it a try. A solid and honest try. It just may save your life too, or at the very least, give you a much better quality of life.

Both of you have had an incredible journey and I've been fortunate to be able to be entertained by both of you throughout it and to see where you are today and hopefully gain some inspiration as I am heavier than I've ever been and I know that I need to make a change for myself so that I can enjoy life for as long as possible.

    A lot of people do their weight-loss differently. When I was 26, (I'm 5'10") I weighed 260lbs. Controlled my portions per day, so I'd wake up eat breakfast. Wait 4 hours to eat lunch, wait 4 hours to eat dinner. Then weight 4 hours before I slept. No snacks in between and drinking only water. Did this for over a decade and I am now on a steady fluctuation of 190-210lbs. As far as exercising I never went to the gym. I did push-ups everyday starting off slow with 5 push ups an hour. Then 10 push ups an hour after feeling comfortable to do more. Now I do minimum 40 push ups a day. Did that for a year straight, no days off till after one year. I also ride bicycle year round, I do not own a motorized-vehicle. I turn 41 this year (2023) and feel healthy. Started dropping energy drinks or supplements, I do everything natural. I eat a lot of chicken, fish, red meat, rice, Brussel sprouts. Been finding creative dishes that are both delicious and healthy.

What's a bummer is when it's a metabolic issue (i.e. the "eating less and exercising more" doesn't work) and people keep talking about how much weight they lost by exercising more than walking to their mailbox and ceasing with eating whatever they want. Cognitive behavioral therapy and having someone hold your hand so you don't eat out of boredom, nerves, etc., just doesn't work. However, it's nice that you educated people on available options.

After that, I didnt skate anymore, and was pretty sedentary (i work from home). My only calory burn was from playing drums. After gaining over 40 pounds, i got frustrated and got myself into fitness and nutrition. Through learning how to meal prep, how to find my TDEE + macros needed and hitting the gym 3-5 days a week, i shredded that 40 pounds in 6 months. This was years ago and i remain lean today and in the best shape of my life. Sometimes you just need that internal push to get things started but you also need to keep that endgoal in sight. The benefit is there to obtain!

But thank you to you and Mrs Lush for showing yourselves now and than. It's truly amazing what will and courage for change can do for someone. Salute 🫡 to you both 👏🏽

    Thank you for this video, it came at a perfect time for me. I'm currently on my big weight loss journey counting calories and it's so tough sometimes and I'm in the biggest slump right now since I began back in april. I started at 115kg and am down to 94kg - goal is 80kg so I can qualify for fertility treatment, but I've been stuck here for a while, and listening to you talk about your mindset about not blaming yourself but treating the weight fluctuations as awareness has given me a new angle to keep going ❤️ I'm so happy for your strength and patience to go through this !

    I have been fat and lazy most of my life, not obese just fat and the best thing that ever happened to me was Covid lockdown. With nothing to do all day it was the motivation start exercising and being on reduced income there was no money to waste on junk food. At 51 years old I am now fitter, stronger and healthier than I was in my twenties. My only regret is that I did not start earlier since now is the life stage where building muscle is an uphill battle you can't win, still it is better than being fat with no muscle.

    I started working out almost 4 months ago, and even though I knew I wasn't gonna see a huge change after a month, I thought there'd be more of a noticeable difference, if I hadnt enjoyed working out I would've been discouraged, so I changed my mindset and realized my muscles are stronger, exercising is way easier than it was a month ago and were starting from nothing its gonna take a little time for the results to show but I can feel a difference so I'm 4 months in and I feel good and my muscles are stronger

    I think it should be noted that consistency is also really important for weight training/weight loss. You probably won't noticed changes for a while, but you still have to keep at it regardless. Eventually you will see the changes you want, so long as you're doing this properly.

    I found Mr Lush’s main channel just around 24 hours ago, and loved it! As soon as I came to a vid where he talks about Lush Life, I instantly hopped over, and have been nonstop binging since… As someone in a terribly lonely, and unhealthy marriage 20 year marriage, it gives me such unbelievable JOY to see the two of you together! You both warm my heart so much! You were instantly my favorite RUclips couple, and that was BEFORE I found THIS video!!!! Holy fucking shit. Mrs Lush, you are fucking GORGEOUS!, and were drop dead before you lost the weight as well!! I’ve lost 205 lbs myself (yes I was huge lol) I’m just so much more in love with you now, and I didn’t think it was possible!! ❤ Oh and you’re aight too Mr Lush 😜

    Aww, thanks for sharing this conversation and the process, you two are just so dad-gummed wholesome! I've struggled with severe mental health issues my whole life, finally started getting help for it fairly recently. The meds and self-work were able to lead me to the point of realising the things I put into my body can have a dramatic effect. I can see now how helpful it would be to my brain if my body were in better condition; I would like to get into boxing as part of my anger management, and am starting off with all the tone and musclulature of a newborn baby. The extensive weakness of my feet is still the most limiting, but no-impact dancing in place does not hurt so that's what I'm doing for now. Maybe in a little while I'll be able to go on a treadmill, but for now just doing what I can with what I have. Thanks for making such a nice space for your viewers.

    I have been battling with my weight for DECADES! I was always a chubby kid, but i ate well and was an athlete, so i thought it was normal. NOPE! Middle school passed and by 8th grade i was at a high weight, 150lbs, and just quit everything. I was teased, beat up, and isolated from my peers, so that kept me in the house even more. Now i am 42 and I'm pushing 350 lbs and want to get rid of it. My boyfriend looks like Slender man and i look like Jabba The Hut. You two are great motivators! Thank you!

    I’ve done both methods of starting with diet change first, then incorporating exercise and vice versa. For me, the initial motivation to get started was easier if I focused on diet changes first…but often I would go off the rails before I would even get to a point of incorporating exercise.
    The biggest successes (85-100lb losses) were when I started with exercise first-and I also much prefer strength training to cardio. I just felt better physically & more accomplished, which gave me more motivation to preserve those feelings by eating more healthily.
    That said, I may have won some battles, but I’m still losing the war, so take that for what you will. Congrats to the Lush fam for your results!

    I started running at about the middle of the year 2020 a mile every day. Not really watching what I ate or anything, but this was a big step for me as I'd never really done anything like it. But the past summer I decided to really step it up. Looking at my progress almost makes me emotional, cause I wasn't the fat kid growing up, but I wasn't the fittest. It feels so good to be making this progress. Thanks for sharing y'alls wisdom and process. Ps, the reminder that it takes time is very helpful and important. Appreciate y'all so much.✌️

    This was a great video and I think this was the most honest way of sharing the way to loose weight. The take away for me is to burn off more than you eat. It's very simple but also very hard to get started 🥵
    I gained a rather huge amount of weight from I was 40-45 due to a job change. I worked as a lumberjack and did martial arts and although I ate a lot I still ate healthy, oatmeal, rye bread, chicken or turkey and fruits and vegetables. After quitting as a lumberjack I still ate the amount of food as I did before and that's where it all went tits up for my weight. Now, I've dropped almost all the weight again simply by eating less and exercise more. Not someone who've weighed myself reguarly but when I'm at my "normal" weight I'm at around 175, right now I think I'm around 190. I'm 5' 11".

    My wife and i have such a similar story. My wife got triggered into working out 5 times a week from us looking at our wedding photos on our anniversary two years ago. She realized that she didnt look like that anymore. She gets up at 4:30am every day and goes to her crossfit gym. I was sliding too and she inspired me to get back to the grind.
