Hands down the most romantic ballad ever written by Death Cab for Cutie and definitely one that would have been on my Spotify wrapped as a teen (if that was a thing). Went with a goth look because it felt right.

One of my closest friends and first romantic partner vanished 2 years ago. She was found nearly 2 months later, after a long manhunt. She had fled her appartment, travelled back to the part of the country where I had known her before she moved for her studies, walked into the mountain forests above a small village and hanged herself.
It wasn't until later that I would find out she'd lost a pregnancy just before doing it. Not mine, we had separated but stayed very close friends.
The hiking trail she was found on was the last one we ever did together before she moved.
I still listen to this song almost daily thinking of her, and keep a photo of her on my desk. Likely always will.
Can't thank her family enough for accepting my showing up to the funeral and taking me in as one of their own during that week, despite nobody having a clue who I was and me randomly appearing from the other side of the country.
I might not be a big believer in afterlives, but I hope you've found some form of peace, Charlotte. I miss you.
