I called my GP for an appointment every morning from Monday to Friday at 8 am. No appointments were available. I called NHS 111 and after 20 minutes on the phone was told to go to A&E within an hour. I had to ask my daughter to rush over from her home, 23 miles away. I got to A&E at 10:30 am. At 11.45 I was called in to have blood pressure ETC taken and sent back to the waiting room. At 5. pm I was called in to see the doctor. I left the hospital at 6.20pm. 15?hours is the normal wait at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Last month I was treated in the acute care unit on a chair after suffering an acute trauma arachnoid hemorrhage. I had all the trauma treatment while in that chair. Then moved onto a gurney for a few nights then admitted to acute trauma ward. A total of 10 days before a bed was found. In the end I decided to come home as there were 9 acute patients waiting for a bed in the acute assessment unit. I am now having care in the community to take the pressure off of A&E. As a retired nurse and NHS worker I find this appalling. The doctors, consultants, nurses and health care workers are miraculous dedicated professionals. They refuse to let patients suffer so treat them in their consulting rooms, 4 patients to a one person cubicle, patients on the Acute assessment ward supposed to stay maximum of 48 hours still there after 2 weeks, that’s with a brand new state of the arts Louise Martindale Hospital building opened on 25 July 2024.
How can we go forward with a crumbling NHS system ?

A&E waiting times are often down to not having enough free beds because social care is underfunded and on its knees and so hospital beds are filled with elderly who can't go home as they need extra care. Also in areas with difficulty seeing a GP because of the lack of funding people go to A&E because they can't get in to see their doctor. As for the housing crisis we need to stop investors from buying homes, inflating the prices and letting them out at ridiculous rents.

I have been an NHS nurse for 18 years, it had slowly got worse over the past 7 to 8 years but in the past 2 years I have seen a dramatic decline, the investment is not there and there are to many middle managers and office workers rather than clinical staff, but another problem is the large increase in foreign patients, people who have arrived in the country a few days before their admission and present unable to speak the language which holds up the process as staff need to admit and wait on translators, and a large percentage of these patients are arriving with pre existing conditions, this then results in patients on the waiting list been cancelled and then increases the waiting list times, it is a never ending cycle.

I complained to no avail. In fact, the response was heartless. Since then, if any of mine are cruelly treated, I'll bar the nurse from going near them. That was my final decision after contacting the Head of Nursing, who at least replied sympathetically, adding that her goal was to bring back compassion, care, and respect.

Immigrants from af1ka and those from mu$l1m countries earn less than the average Brit and a higher percentage of them are on benefits. 70% of Somalians are on benefits. That's why our public sector is in such a state, importing people with no skills, who can't benefit society, who don't contribute their fair share, but reap the benefits from those who do.

But we are importing groups of people who do this at higher rates than our domestic population. We can stop non-essential immigration tomorrow and fix the problem, disenfranchised people on the dole need a plan and investment to help them. One issue has an easy solution - stop them from entering the country, whereas the other requires thought and effort.

I also don't recognise the term "non-essential" when talking about immigration. People should be free to immigrate whether it is essential or not.. (just so long as they are able to contribute or if they need sanctuary)
Not the point though... The problem is not with those who have the least. (benefit claimants, asylum seekers, immigrants etc..), that is a red herring thrown out to distract people..
