- How to replace the power steering fluid in a 2002-2006 Toyota Camry. Quick and simple with a basic fluid extractor, jack, and stands.
Power steering fluid takes a real beating from the high pressures and shearing forces associated with turning the vehicle. Replacing the fluid every 30-50k miles greatly reduces the likelihood of leaks and premature component failure.

Drives me nuts that the Camry says ATF (red) when any clear power fluid will work fine, maybe better
How many liter of fluid you use for flushing. And thanks for adding the fluid link to the video not many ppl do this appreciate it
I pull the return line off the reservoir and suck the oil fluid out. Then fill the reservoir with fresh fluid and suck again until it comes thru. Easy peasy.
I couldn't find the dexron III at the local auto parts store. I used the multi vehicle ATF but the color is different; it is red. Am I hurting my system?
I'm sure it's fine. ATF is hydraulic fluid with additives. The power steering system isn't as picky as a transmission.
Mine did the color change right after we got hit with freezing temperatures with snow ... and now noise is there and when I open the cap it's gushing out . Any suggestions??
Might be a bad pump
I don't have access to a jackstand to lift the front wheels off of the ground. Can I still move my steering wheel lock-to-lock while tires are touching the ground?
The power steering loads are at their highest when the vehicle is stationary. It can handle it, but there's no rush on the service. You could exchange the fluid, drive it around for a few days, then repeat the process until you like the fluid color.
Perhaps there's way to much fluid in the reservoir try emptying it some,,mine worked,,but i do have a bad pressure hose
Since it's ATF can you use the Toyota brand transmission fluid?
yes
I heard that yes you can
No! It's Dex 3-5.
