Actually! Fan theory #2: This game is about queer identity. This character starts out as a stereotypical flamboyant gay man; purple, shirtless, long "trunk", constantly dancing. But she still feels like a monster. So she goes to you, to use your magic ray gun to violently blast away at all her imperfections and reveal the princess underneath. It's a metaphor for the modern miracle of gender affirmation surgery! I don't feel like the moral implications of such a ray gun are fully addressed in this game. Maybe they're saving it for the sequel.

There's something weirdly disturbing about that monster, I don't know. Reminds me of a fever dream or something.
That "game over" somehow creeps me out on a visceral level, i don't know why, maybe it's the noise, maybe it's the janky animation, maybe i'm insane, or maybe i should really be going to bed.

You know, shooting bodyparts off a transformed Princess who does nothing but dances with magical bullets has got to be one of the weirdest premises for a videogame ever.
I would assume the monster is laughing at you when you don't shoot it in time. Sort of like that damn dog in Duck Hunt...

Actually, I DO find the monster doing that weird sliding thing really freaky for inexplicable reasons. It's like it's possessed.
This dancing monster truly frightens me, I'm not going to sleep at night because of this. Don't have me talking about this 10 years later in the therapist's office.
This game has tons of untapped meme potential.

It says the princess is destined to dance forever to the wizard's evil music, so maybe she has no control and isn't really doing it because she enjoys it. That would be pretty horrible, actually. People used to think a long time ago that fairies would force you to dance with them until you died of exhaustion, and it was the original and very un-Disney fate of the queen in Snow White. Which is funny since the Skeleton Dance cartoon at the end of this video was made by Disney. :)
Oh yeah, I saw that cartoon. I learned what little buggers leprechauns can be. If they even *think* you're going to steal their gold, they'll sentence you to the dance of the green shoes or make you think you've gone insane. lol
that game over creeps me out.
I've seen a lot of horror and a lot of unintentionally horrific weird stuff but this was the one the actually disturbed me

I find this game incredibly disturbing and I don't know why.
I suspect this was a bored programmer making a cartoon on his computer for fun when the boss came in to look at the video game he was supposed to be making, so he had to quickly make a game out of it.
This is so uncanny and weird, it's basically nightmare fuel! This would of terrified me if I saw it as a kid! Heck, I'm seeing it for the first time at age 33 and it still gives me the heebie jeebies!

I imagine animating that monster must have been difficult since it was basically a bunch of respawning targets you had to shoot in a certain order.

Not really. The animation stays the same but different parts of the creature turn on or off depending on the timer.
I've played this a few times during my livestreams, it's a favorite there just because it's so absurd and weird.

the beta version of undertale was weird
That was a joke because this game seems like the beta version of Undertale since it has dancing, monsters, and other strange things. The real beta version of Undertale is actually pretty similar to the initial product.

Dismember-em-ups aren't too common. Three years later the arcade game Chiller came out, which is a very weird game but perhaps not quite in a sense befitting this channel. The genre experienced a major renaissance in 2008, when both Fallout 3 and the original Dead Space were released, Mortal Kombat also famously incorporated dismemberment mechanics albeit in a very limited way.
Perhaps the monster is a parasite, and shooting off the monster limbs is like cutting off a malignant growth.

Oh... it's just when I see the Skeleton Dance, I think of the music from the cartoon.
I like it better this way, honestly. After watching this video, I found the skeleton cartoon and was disappointed by the official music. I think it's really cool that The Hall of The Mountain King syncs up so well with that animation, and I was more annoyed that Tom didn't play the whole thing.
I've seen some weird real life videos like that on the dark corners of the web...

The game keeps score by how fast you can beat it. The timer at the top centre is what your current time is, and the top right is the current high score. The default high score is 50 minutes for some reason.
Doomguy would be pretty good for this job if Eternal is any indication.

this is the most pointless game you put in the show, really it didn't have any purpose!
It had an objective. How is it more pointless than the others?
Because i think this game doesn't have a real purpose over than shooting a character for doing... whatever the "dancing monster" doing at the game over screen, and saving the princess from the dancing monster curse.
But i found it a very loose objective for making a complete game out of it.
